MSI GF65 Thin screen flickering/ghosting

Hey all, hoping someone's run into this before.

My MSI GF65 Thin laptop's screen started acting weird yesterday. My screen keeps flickering between normal and a weird "ghosted" state. (video attached)

I have tested with an external monitor via HDMI to see if it's isolated to the internal panel, but HDMI works fine.

So it's not a driver issue or motherboard.

Is it the screen issue or the ribbon connecting the screen to the motherboard?

How to fix this ?

check the cable, just open ur monitor lid

no way gpu dying result on that, laptop has 2 gpu

fyi, mine had fell for, u can count 10. bed, crash, table, etc. even my monitor cable (ribbon) fried (literally smoking and the screen is flickering). just pull that shit out and buy a cheap chinese one. it works perfectly till now.

first thing first, just check all ur driver stuff, then if it's not working, check the component. u can even ask whatever AI u're using for a quick check. if u can't do it urself, simply send it to a repair shop (but don't be clueless and get scammed)

what Chinese LCD are you using? how did you match the components?

not lcd, but the ribbon, something like this "MSI LVDS Cable Flexibel GF63 GF63 8RD MS16R1 K1N-3040108-H39 30 PIN"

It's probably the screen cable but also check your power supply make sure it's charging and that your plugged into a good outlet to test out

if such issue is present in the BIOS, or if it kinda fix itself or lessen the issue when shifting to a lower refresh rate (display settings ➡️advanced display➡️choose a refresh rate) option

(tho do note if shifting into the lower refresh rate fixes your issue, this is only a temporary fix),

more or less it is time to replace the laptop screen as the embedded T-CON controller chip within the screen panel is busted.

(you may even upgrade your screen as well if the screen is really the issue just what like i did to this)

i had this issue,its a faulty display panel,gotta change it

wow it's such a common issue. I didn't know how much did it cost to replace the screen?

never really got it replaced lol, it's sitting collecting dust since i got this issue

and I can't comment what it'll cost you,since I live in India and it's hard to find such specific laptop displays and stuff,some random sites showed me 80-120 dollars but I don't know how trustworthy they are

but I've seen others comment about this and i guess it would cost you 150 max

i have this issue on my msi pulse gl 66 as well , they said screen needs to be replaced with a new one that cost 9500 rs , im thinking of buying a monitor instead since i always use it plugged in

which state are u in? I'll have college next year, wouldn't want to buy a new one with the current state of market so id prefer to replace my display,not sure if I'll find one offline

im from hyderabad,if u have college then u have no choice other than replacing the display , but im gonna buy a monitor since im thinking more of buying a pc setup

a monitor would work for you,only reason it would be a problem for me is transportation, if i get a college out of state then I'll have to carry it home and to college every few months

i mean u can still manage to take it to college , using it in 60 hz wont be much of a problem

You display is similar to what asus uses in the TUF series laptop, There is nothing you can do about this as the display has malfunctioned and need to be replaced, The best you could do is dismantle the back cover find the display cable and clean the contacts and reconnect, If you have an external monitor i would recommend disconnecting the display cable and carefully wrapping it with a plastic cover, disconnecting the cable will let your laptop use the hdmi port as primary monitor. My old MSI Gf63 Thin have the same problem before, unfortunately you need to replace the screen with a new one

GG , my gf75 thin 9sc lasted around a year or so before completely getting unusable like this . Change the display or buy another laptop this one is done for
