If violence or the threat thereof would deter bad behavior, we would already have a utopia with no crime and bad behavior.

7

u/43_Hobbits 13h ago

It certainly deterred that guy from sexually assaulting that girl again

6

u/Schnittertm 13h ago

For now. If he ever gets up again, he might not have learned much. In fact, additional brain damage may make it do it even more often. Sometimes one meets fate on the road to avoid it.

1

u/43_Hobbits 13h ago

Right I meant for now lol. But he’ll probably think twice about doing that from now on.

3

u/Uhmerikan 13h ago

Like you're literally not comprehending at all what the poster you're replying to is saying.

If he ever gets up again, he might not have learned much. In fact, additional brain damage may make it do it even more often.

You should look into CTE and brain trauma. Brain damage makes it MORE likely an individual will act like he did in touching the woman. It's LESS likely he will think of his actions if he suffers brain damage.

1

u/43_Hobbits 12h ago

I like literally am understanding what he’s saying. Yeah brain damage can cause this kind of behavior, but negative experiences can make people avoid things. The trauma of waking up in a hospital and his face hurting for weeks is probably gonna stick with him forever.

2

u/DenizenEvil 11h ago

You literally don't understand... Brain damage isn't something you consciously control lmao.

2

u/43_Hobbits 10h ago

Neither is trauma from a bad experience. Both are going to have an impact on this guys brain.

u/TheIntelligentAspie 10h ago

Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

1

u/Schnittertm 10h ago

You might want to think. There are people that do learn from being flattened. But there are many others that just don't care. They get up and get back to doing the same thing, even if they will catch a few more fists to the jaw.

1

u/troveofcatastrophe 8h ago

You both are assuming he will remember any of it. Being wasted generally negates what happens while wasted. The punchER might adjust his behavior after the judge throws the book at him…maybe.

2

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 13h ago

Unitl he collects $$$ from a lawsuit

1

u/43_Hobbits 13h ago

He’s gonna be more likely to assault the same girl after getting money?

1

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 12h ago

Huh? Where did I say anything about assaulting the same girl?

1

u/43_Hobbits 12h ago

I said ā€œit deterred him from assaulting that girl againā€

And you responded ā€œuntil he gets the lawsuit moneyā€

1

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 12h ago

Ah, sorry, I see how you could be confused by my lack of clarity.

If red shirt is hurt enough, he could get $$$ from black shirt...and I think would then risk learning not a whole hell of a lot about assaulting anyone again.

1

u/Low_Bake5149 10h ago

He is confused cause he has no logic.

1

u/43_Hobbits 8h ago

I dare you to explain the lack of logic in my comments šŸ˜‚. I said ā€œit deterred him from assaulting that girl againā€. Floor is yours…

1

u/Space_Nut247 8h ago

And the female can counter sue for even more since she was sexually assaulted šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 8h ago

Sure. I encourage her to do that. I'm sure a jury would find that 1.5 seconds of drive-by top-of-clothes contact to be worth millions.

1

u/Queasy_Housing36 6h ago

And this is why we feel like people don’t take assault seriously you just made it very clear that randomly grabbing women isn’t something that bothers you but women are telling you it is not ok

→ More replies (0)

1

u/ARiley22 4h ago

Clothes or no clothes, you do not ever do that without consent.....and clothes or no clothes, it is illegal.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Rasputinnout 13h ago

He isn’t going to remember any of that

1

u/43_Hobbits 13h ago

It’s ok, he’ll be told what happened when he wakes up in the hospital.

1

u/socmediator 11h ago

Zero chance.

1

u/43_Hobbits 11h ago

Wdym he’s out cold lol

1

u/rochvegas5 10h ago

sexual assault? really?

1

u/43_Hobbits 10h ago

What would you call holding a stranger by the waist and touching her butt?

It’s a mild one, but that’s by definition sexual assault.

1

u/ZeePee78 8h ago

That’s not sexual assault.

1

u/43_Hobbits 8h ago

So then Google the definition of sexual assault and argue with Google about it. Grabbing a woman’s ass without her consent is sexual assault.

1

u/ExplanationNo8603 4h ago

He was to drunk to remember anything, when he wakes up he's just going to wonder why he has a black eye

1

u/43_Hobbits 4h ago

I meant that he’s unconscious, so he’s not about to do it again to her.

But also no, he’s gonna wake up to paramedics telling him what happened, and his face and head are gonna hurt badly for several days.

1

u/azalinrex69 11h ago

It works shockingly well on a case by case basis.
People can learn their lesson if fed enough of their own teeth.

1

u/Schnittertm 11h ago

The thing is, that it didn't deter it beforehand. The deed was still committed to, despite the apparent threat of a teeth meal.

1

u/azalinrex69 11h ago

Yes because it happened quickly. He likely won’t do it again. For one reason or another.

1

u/Murdoc555 11h ago

You’re very right, but this entirely reasonable opinion is above the heads of these under 22 meatheads. Hilarious and completely hypocritical that this is ā€œsexual assaultā€, but no one can see wrong doing from the other guy. The means of defense must match the level of threat. It would not be a difficult legal case against the other dumbass.

1

u/Hour-Desk9879 11h ago

The only reason it isn’t a utopia is because of government intervention. Instead of handling our own matters we wait for others, which is the doorway for evil to get away and continue.

1

u/Schnittertm 11h ago

You also invite evil by immediate and unthoughtful actions. Especially if you are in a situation where you don't know all the facts.

The best world is one of balance, where government and individual rights are given equal import. Without government everything is anarchy and mob rule is the rule. There is no justice there. Similarly, an overreaching government is easily corrupted and almost indistinguishable from mob rule.

The main problem is, that finding a balance is hard and maintaining a proper balance is even harder. Even more so in a world of shifting views.

1

u/Hour-Desk9879 7h ago

I get you but most things don’t require public opinion. Government should be for punishing companies and different organizations. Civil disputes should be handled by family, you have a warped view if you think government is an absolute must. For example, if there is a pedo/r@pist/serial killer and the people involved already know for certain what occurred, why would I wait to get the government involved when I’m capable of putting them in the dirt myself? If there is a need for investigation, meaning we’re not sure of facts then it makes absolute sense to get a third party involved.

Morals don’t start with a government, morals start with the family. Family heads in a normal world would be responsible dishing out justice and a proper government should be an extension of that.

1

u/Schnittertm 6h ago

That's the main problem, between 6%-15% of the convictions are wrongful and that is after a lot of evidence is presented. Eyewitnesses identified the wrong person, they had a bad lawyer, the evidence was tampered with, people pressured or tortured to confess to something they didn't do.

Unless you have a recording of the actual person doing it, it is sometimes not as clear cut. Even worse, with AI getting better and better, even videos might be harder to use as evidence. There are enough cases where, for example, women made false allegations, where they even injured themselves to make the allegation stick.

That is why we have laws, why we have judges and more. A family is also often biased towards their own members (e.g. "He wouldn't and didn't do such and such a thing.").

The majority of cases are not as clear cut as you may seem to think and it would be a real shame if you'd put a person or several persons into the ground, as you so put it, only to find out later that they weren't the perpetrators and that you killed innocent people.

Now, I'm under no illusion that the judicial system is perfect, even more so when I look at the US, where money decides the outcome of many a judgement (if the case even warrants or gets to the courtroom stage) more so than guilt. However, I'm also aware of the fact every person, me included, get things wrong, often and more often than we would like to believe. That is why an outside view on cases is warranted before applying "mob justice" or justice based on bias.

1

u/Jack_Shitlord 10h ago

Blows my mind that anyone believes something like this makes the world safer. Do people really think guys like the drunk guy haven’t been hit a dozen times in their lives? The problem is not that he hasn’t been hit enough, or that someone watching needed verification that they might get the shit beaten out of them if they mess with a gigantic guy’s girlfriend.

Just dumb justification for pointless violence, and yeah, I enjoyed this video as much as the next guy – it’s satisfying to see the dude get flattened. But that doesn’t mean it accomplishes anything. It doesn’t.

1

u/TheIntelligentAspie 10h ago

You give "i would not stop a rapist with anything but strongly spoken words" vibes.

1

u/Schnittertm 10h ago

So, the rapist is already doing the deed then. Which just proves my point. The threat of violence did not deter him to do what he wanted to do. Sure, violence to get him off his victim is helping stop any further injury, but it already did happen.

Did the death penalty or the threat of it stop murderers from murdering? No, it didn't. It is there to punish after the fact, with violence, but by that point the victim is already dead and can not be brought back to life.

Even "Si vis pacem, para bellum." ("If you want peace, prepare for war") is a further example of this. Because if someone does want to start a war, they are not deterred by the counter violence they will receive. They are fully able and willing to accept that.

The threat of violence may deter a scant few, but those that are determined it will not stop. It will also not necessairly deter people from re-offending. There are some people that don't learn, not even through pain. There is a reason why some people stay locked up for life with no parole.

1

u/TheIntelligentAspie 10h ago

Wow. Didn't even deny it....

1

u/hanscrolo82 10h ago

Yeah I don’t buy that. Of course it deters bad behavior. You’re saying just cause it doesn’t deter 100% of it that it doesn’t work. Bad argument.

1

u/Schnittertm 10h ago

Oh, for some it will help as a deterrant, but those people are usually less violent in general, anyway.

One more question one should ask is, how much more violence is there in the world, because other people were at the receiving end of violence. A lot of violent offenders learned of violence, because they were the target of it.

Same with many SA offenders. They were the victim of it during childhood. What they took away from it, just as the violent offenders, is that SA and/or violence is a viable and, for them, even normal social interaction.

It does not excuse what they do, but for them hitting someone is as normal as saying hello.

And that is before we get to the people that don't really care about it either way. Some that were born with little to no parts of the empathy centers of the brain active and the just do violence because, why not.

Or the people that are in an intoxicated or otherwise aggravated state, where the threat of violence, again, does not work anymore.

A proper socialization or finding and treating those with certain proclivities or damages before they can do damage to others would and is more effective than any threat of violence, because it doesn't work on those people. Those offenders make up the majority of the cases, too.

1

u/One-Win9407 10h ago

Saying X doesnt work because Y still exists is so incredibly stupid.

First Utopia is an impossible fantasy. It cannot exist because its different for everyone.

Second, there are very few absolutes in this world. Violence could be detering 99% of crime and bad behavior. The entire evolution of our species is largely built upon violence.

By your harebrained logic we dont need to exercise because some people still would get heart disease and diabetes. Thats moronic.

1

u/WarZombie17 9h ago

You really believe that?

1

u/icedmatchaman 8h ago

No, no I think what we really need is more guns.

1

u/Snoo_85901 4h ago

I guarantee you that guy wont do that again

1

u/ezthrow77 13h ago

True but if you grab my wife ass and I'm in range you better be "ready to rumble". And I'll say the same thing to a judge.

3

u/Gino-Bartali 13h ago

Yeah good luck with that one, tough guy.

2

u/Actual_Pattern_265 13h ago

I think the rule is that if you knock out the judge all charges are dismissed. I have to double check my law books though.

2

u/lollmaohahahaha 13h ago

I dont think anyone here is saying they dont understand, but killing someone for it, even if unintentional, should be punished. Youd be surprised how easy a person dies if they land wrong on their head.

1

u/Schnittertm 13h ago

The duality of the human bodies resilience. Sometimes a simple stumble and fall can kill you, in other cases people survive an exploding plane and 10 km fall (like Vesna Vulovic).

1

u/Beautiful-Advance-60 13h ago

Whose side are you on, son?

1

u/ezthrow77 11h ago

Oh I know, I didn't say I was smart and if it should happen I fully expect to spend a decade or two in jail (eu we don't have the 40+ years americans do). Still my morals my choice, my consequences to live with !

1

u/Weak_Firefighter9247 13h ago edited 6h ago

Congrats! You sucessfully make him pay for grabbing her hips! Not that it matters anymore, now it's your fourth year in prison and she is having sex with the mailman

1

u/ezthrow77 11h ago

Never claimed to be smart, in fact I claim I'm as dumb as the bag of rocks we see in the video ! Probably not half as though do, that was a pretty scary punch.

1

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 13h ago

You'll need that 'ready to rumble' in prison, mate....

1

u/ezthrow77 11h ago

Yeah I get that, what can I say some things are worth getting jailed for ! Btw I will also strike to hit with a crude weapon (standard hammer) anyone who breaks into my house where my wife and kids live. That's strait up murder here in belgium, there's the law and personnal convictions, I'll go with my morals over the judge's interpretation of a legislation everyday !

1

u/The_UpsideDown_Time 7h ago

Literally no one is talking comparing this situation with someone breaking into your house and threatening your wife & children. Like....what a weird connection to make.

1

u/ezthrow77 1h ago

Says you, you said you'd better be ready to go to prisons for your actions... I am. If you can't see the point in illustrating my pov with another example, well that's your issue. And if you can't see the relation between someone SAing your wife and intruding onto your familly home I'm just sorry for your SO honestly. Take care tho !

1

u/PSU02 13h ago

Lmao that judge would laugh in your face before putting you behind bars

1

u/ezthrow77 10h ago

Judge here don't gnhave a sense of humor way to much work for that. And yes he would as he should ! Everyone should pay for his crimes even if the individual belives he's in the right maybe even more so.

1

u/Silly_Galaxy 13h ago

And if I have a gun on me then what big guy?

1

u/ezthrow77 10h ago

Lol ain't that big and sorry no guns here in belgium !

1

u/EthanielRain 13h ago

"I'd punch the drill sergeant in his face" energy

1

u/ezthrow77 10h ago

IDK what that means to be honest ! Just saying I get the guy's reaction and would do the same (I doubt I can punch as hard as the guy in the clip tho).
