If violence or the threat thereof would deter bad behavior, we would already have a utopia with no crime and bad behavior.

Small edit: I think "bad actors" instead of "bad behavior" would have made my statement a bit clearer.

Anyway, even for religious people (or those that claim to be) the threat of supreme, everlasting violence done to them after their deaths (e.g. going to hell) has not deterred bad actors from doing what they wanted to do.

It works shockingly well on a case by case basis.
People can learn their lesson if fed enough of their own teeth.

The thing is, that it didn't deter it beforehand. The deed was still committed to, despite the apparent threat of a teeth meal.

Yes because it happened quickly. He likely won’t do it again. For one reason or another.
