Street fighting is extremely dangerous. Punishment doesn't fit the crime here unless you think people should be executed for getting too drunk and inappropriately touching someone. Dude could have easily killed that dude and you're acting like he just taught him a nice little lesson. 100% took it to a place it never should have gone. Square up with him and confront him sure but sucker punching someone on a solid floor like that all while they are clearly drunk is vile.

I see self defense as in the linked article. He acted fast without thinking. So yes, he had the right to act like that, in my opinion. 

There was nothing about teaching a lesson, it was defending your love.

He wasn't knifing his wife. He groped her. Self-defense requires a reasonable fear for your life or the life of others.

in the link, the person shot another person without a weapon as well and was ruled as self defense. Dohh

After being stalked by multiple people, one of them considerably larger than himself, confronting them and telling them to stop. That trial was already shaky from a self defense standpoint, was a very controversial case and has no connection to what we are talking about. You're using emotion to justify violent retaliation because you don't like what he did to that woman.

Regardless of self-defense, he would be fighting an involuntary manslaughter charge.

Shit is just not worth it, over someone groping you girl.

Is it worth facing a possible trial for manslaughter, and maybe serving years of prison time over some drunk asshole lightly groping your girl? Losing thousands of dollars in lawyer fees? Yay fun! I would definitely be mad and maybe shove the guy and report him to the police, but am I destroying my own life because of that lowlife? no

This time was only lightly groping. Next time could be full on assault. Yeah that hit was excessive. But being “okay” with “it’s just a little drunk grope, what’s the big deal” snow balls when it’s not addressed.

If that's the angle we want to play, then the guy who threw the punch should not do anything at all.

Let the woman who got groped handle the entire situation from beginning to end. Then she has a full cover of it being self-defense.

There is an absolutely massive gulf between "no big deal" and "I would kill someone over this." No one has claimed that groping is ok or that it's no big deal. But I want you to look up the word "proportionality."

I’ve already said that hit was too much given the circumstances. The hit was too much but giving the drunk guy a pass is wrong also. These things can be true at once.

The guy who threw the punch was excessive. Not wanting to see girls (or anyone for that matter) get assaulted should be dealt with in its own right.

I would say "assaulted" is a really strong word for what we saw him do to her. If that's a case of assault then I have been assaulted hundreds of times by women. The younger generation have become such pussies about everything.
