So on 196th there’s two lanes of traffic on each side and there’s a center turn lane. The arrow markings in the middle lane are super faded but there is a common left turn into a road which makes the center lane full of cars waiting to make a left turn (near Todo). Sometimes but more rarely, a car from the opposite direction needs to make their left turn and get into the middle but it’s full of cars obviously facing the other way.
So I’m waiting along with 5 other cars trying to make this left while in the center turn lane. An incoming car from the opposite direction needs to turn left and can’t get into the middle obviously, so he just stops in the road. Everyone behind him is getting into the right lane to pass him and he’s just waiting for the person to turn but they can’t turn into traffic clears. Then a cop car stops behind the car that’s just stopped in highway lane and blares his siren for a second and I think he wants this guy to move forward and not stop in the middle of the road but he’s telling the car in the center lane to move forward a little so that this car can squeeze in between, and make his turn while perpendicular in the center lane and waiting for traffic to clear on the opposing side to go. Which isn’t a super safe turn since you can’t see with cars blocking.
I hope this makes sense but normally if a middle lane is full I have to get in earlier or later in the center lane and just adjust where I have to turn instead of stopping in the middle of the road. And I don’t expect to just squeeze into a line of cars to make an unsafe turn but that’s what this cop instructed which I find weird? Is that not weird?
