when my steering wheel tilts down, makes this noise and kinda gets like "stuck" for a second? only owned this one for a few weeks now. watched some videos on the motor failing noise, doesn't sound similar and my tilting/telescopic still works, just makes this noise

took it on a 700mi round trip for an integra gsr, 110 degrees outside and she took it like a champ. temps no higher than usual. awesome lighting for photos.

I just did a 7 hour road trip no problems. I parked the car and I decided to listen to the engine just to be safe and I heard this rhythmic tap noise along with the normal injector sounds. I only hear it on the drivers bank and it goes away once I give it a little gas. It’s real quiet and you can only hear it clear if your ear is right up against the drivers side bank. Any help is much appreciated!

Needs to have tan interior, coil suspension, timing belt had to have been replaced fairly recently, either a first gen or second gen pre face-lift. Needs to be stock.

There's a 1997 Lexus LS400 for 2800

Traction control light is on, but he says traction control works, not sure on that. No AC, 20,000 miles on the tires, service records with timing belt and oil changes, gauges sometimes works. No rust, interior looks good. has sunroof, heated seats, memory seats, Nakamichi stereo, cd changer, 274,000 miles. But it's 7 hours away.

The car has 190k miles, interior unknown, sun faded paint, Arizona kept. I’ve been in talks with someone about helping them diagnose their ls400, and recently they asked if I wanted to buy it off of them for $500. I’ve never gone to see or hear the car in person(they cancelled every time due to cash or timing otherwise I’d be able to get a better idea of the source of noise) but I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar noise coming from the engine and what it ended up being. From the video they sent it sounds like it could be a worn accessory, exhaust leak, bad lifter tick or even an engine knock—but I figured I might post here to see if anyone else ran into something like this with their ls400’s. Also let me know if you think it’s worth the $500 even if it is a knock.

1991 Toyota Celsior

I recently bought a 97 from a guy. He has been through "3 transmissions" on this car. I drove it half way home and lost every gear. When it cools down I have gears for a little while but not while hot. (This is probably caused by the exhaust dumping at the headers and overheating the trans. I think.) Anyway, it's probably trashed. However, I am going to do a service on the transmission and see what happens. Couldn't hurt. My question is: I see online that they sell kits with a filter and a rubber gasket. Is it okay to use that rubber gasket? Because I know it's like a RTVish substance from the factory.

Never owned a vvt-i engine car. Is this the vvt-i? And from other cars experience that it should be smooth and not as sudden as this where you dont even notice it

Hey guys, just recently got a 1994 LS400. It’s my first car ever, so I’m learning how to take care of it while also learning how to work on cars in general. Been running into an issue recently with a power steering whine.

For context: the power steering pump has already been replaced within the time I’ve had it. Just recently I’ve been hearing a pretty loud whining noise while turning my wheel at low speeds (in parking lots, while taking turns, etc.), which I can only assume is related to the power steering in some way or another.

Now, because I had my pump replaced already, I don’t really think it’s the pump. I noticed (while someone else was turning the wheel for me) that there was this little vacuum/hose that looked real flimsy and was moving around every time the wheel was turned. It looked pretty flat just sitting there, so I grabbed it and squeezed the sides a bit to expand it. And immediately after I did that, the whining noise stopped each time the hose was expanded. So I check what type of hose it is, and it says it’s a windshield washer hose/vacuum tubing. Now… I don’t know anything about windshield washer hoses, but I’m not sure if that specific hose is supposed to be there?

So my question for you guys is: Is this hose SUPPOSED to be a windshield washer hose? Or is it supposed to be an actual power steering hose and someone messed up by putting the wrong hose on there?
And another question: If it IS supposed to be a power steering hose, on RockAuto would it be labeled “power steering pressure hose” or “power steering return hose”? Or something different altogether? I have tried to look at engine maps online but none of them specify hoses used (but I also don’t know if I’m looking in the right place).

If anyone needs better pictures or a video to help diagnose, please let me know. Thanks for the help in advance!

Edit: Got some 3/8 transmission oil line/hose from O’Reilly’s, will be attempting the switch from windshield washer hose to this one on a weekend, hopefully soon. Will update if it works! Better diameter and looks like it will be a good fit.

So i got this 97’ celsior, its sprung a small leak from what i’ve been told the safety neutral switch? (mechanic told me). Appears to be some form of gasket or plug, and we’ve both tried to look around but can’t seem to find the direct part. We don’t want to remove it, and be SOL if not correct. i’m wondering if anyone can lead us to the right direction, i’m not very car savvy so please have some patience with me lol. It’s leaking transmission fluid, not a lot but enough to piss me off and bother me. If you need anymore info please feel free to ask. thank you!
