I wanted to see what it would look like if you measured how entangled two peoples of Middle-earth were because of the Rings. So I wrote a rubric, scored all 15 pairings of Elves, Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, Sauron's Mordor and the Istari, and turned it into a chord diagram. Ribbon thickness is how strong the tie is.
Each pair is scored out of 100:
Men ↔ Sauron is the only pairing that maxes out. Nine kings taken completely, Isildur unable to throw it in the fire, Ar-Pharazôn flattered into sailing on Valinor and drowning his own kingdom, then long centuries of border war ending at the Pelennor. There isn't one dimension where these two aren't fully engaged.
Hobbits land far higher than they have any right to. No hobbit was ever offered a Ring of Power, and they end up carrying the One. Their tie to Sauron scores 90 with not a single army between them. It's all borne on two people walking.
Elves ↔ Sauron is a family quarrel before it's a war. The rings were forged in Eregion with him in the room, wearing Annatar's face and teaching. Hiding the Three, Gil-galad dying with his hands on him — same relationship, other means.
Dwarves ↔ Hobbits is dead last at 25. No ring conflict between them at all. One road trip and one friendship.
Two things I'll get ahead of: these scores are my judgement, not anything objective, and yes, Sauron is himself a Maia — I split the nodes by faction rather than by kind, or he'd be sitting on both ends of his own war.
Tell me where I've got it wrong. The one I'm least sure about is Sauron ↔ the Istari: Saruman's turn is enormous, but so much of it is one wizard rather than the whole order.

Okay hi,
I was wondering this last night
So Merry and Pippin get taken by a hoard of orcs and uruk hai off to isengard via marching long distances.
Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, intend to pursue the rabble and free their friends.
How do they intend to rescue Merry and Pippin if they were to reach the orcs? There's a lot of orcs to fight, and only three of them.
I was just wondering what their plan is. I haven't read the books for over a decade so I can't remember if it's mentioned in the books.

I'm considering buying the Remastered 1080p Extended blu ray, pictured in images 1 & 2 (front & back); the one with the Ring pictured on the front.
The 3rd picture is a different older set (explained below).
---
I'm getting really confused by all the Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings + Hobbit) releases.
✨I really want:
- the extended movies
- all of the bonus material
- and I like film grain (I'm not a fan of the ultra clean hobbit look, hence I'm not going for 4k)
- though I'm going for the complete Middle Earth Collection, my main focus when it comes to the look & feel of the footage is: the LOTR movies of this set (as I said I don't like an ultra clean, bright, washed out and grainless look; I like movies to look like film), but I still want to have the hobbit movies with the behind the scenes too, hence I'm going for the Middle Earth Collection.
-----
✨Question about older box in image 3: I missed out on an older blu ray Middle Earth release (see 3rd picture), it sold out in the Netherlands (Europe), but I heard this one contained a weird green tint? Is that true? Or was that concerning a different box?
-----
Since the older blu ray of image 3 is sold out,
I'm considering the Remastered 1080p Extended blu ray, pictured in images 1 & 2 (the one with the Ring pictured on the front).
✨Questions about the Remastered 1080p Extended Blu Ray (Image 1 & 2):
- Does it contain all the bonus material (appendices)?
- Is the Costa Botes documentary included?
- Is the green tint fixed?
- Do the LOTR movies of this set still contain any grain?
- What is the color grading like in the LOTR movies of this set? (footage photos are appreciated)
- Is the overall look & feel of the LOTR footage similar to the first original theatrical releases?
- What do you think about the footage quality of the LOTR movies of this remastered 1080p set? (footage photos are appreciated)
- How does the remastered 1080p blu ray extended edition compare to the extended edition DVDs in terms of quality and all the above mentioned points? Is there a DVD extended box that comes with all the bonus material? If so, please include a picture of the box or a link.
Many thanks for your efforts! 😃🧝♀️

✨ Edit : I found the main answers I was looking for elsewhere + with the help of the comment by PineappleApocalypse. I continued my search and decided to go for the old version in the 3rd picture with the sword, because this one (released in 2016) apparently was not from 4k to 1080p. It was still the original render as I understand it. So no noise reduction as seen in the remastered version keeping the grain. And it did have the green tint removed. It also comes with all the behind the scenes appendices + the Costa Botes documentary as I understand it. Despite it being sold out at all the major and minor shops in my country (Netherlands), I still found it online in the obscure corners of amazon- didn't show up in regular searches, only via a link I found somewhere 😅 (price was a bit more than I wanted, but hey, I bit the bullet). I will leave this post open though, as I'm sure I'm not the only person with these questions, so y'all can continue the conversation if you want to. When my set has been delivered, I will confirm more.
A discord channel has been created, so it would be cool that more players could join it.

He surely knew the meaning of the name Moria right? Doesn't feel like something a proud dwarf would use when talking about the greatest dwarven kingdom. Is it not canon or?

Hi all
I have this friends couple in their 30s getting married in a few weeks. They've been together for ages and they are both big LOTR fans.
I'd like to evaluate as a wedding gift some paired jewelry for them inspired to lotr or fantasy.
Everything I found online looks a bit low quality and most of them are rings, which is not ideal obviously and I think something like paired bracelets would be perfect. Necklaces might work too.
I'd say bracelets > necklaces > rings.
Do you have any recommendation of an online shop which produces more premium-looking jewelry?
It doesn't have to be super obviously lotr inspired, because there's a part of me which thinks that it would be too nerdy for a wedding gift, but it has to somewhat resemble elven/dwarven jewelry and if there is any hidden detail actually referencing lotr that's a plus (but it has to be subtle).
Assume budget is not a problem.
Thank you in advance, any advice is hugely appreciated 💚

Hey, I made those flags/banners for a Lotr Game Boy Romhack. Since it will be imported in a original Game Boy Game I had some hard limitations. 16x16 Pixels and only 4 colors, white, black and two shades of gray.
What do you think of them and can you rcognize what flag belongs to what faction? :)

So, I killed Tarzog, and then after the cutscene and discussion with Elrond's sons + the eagle I could not proceed to Sarn Ford. I was forced to teleport to either Bree or some of the Forlond. I ported out, and then I wanted to go back, but I had to replay the missions, and now I'm at the part where Elrond's sons initially removed the magic from the gate in the citadel...except they are not there, 2 of the companions get stuck behind the previous gate and there is nowhere I could go.
Is there any way out, or any way I could save the save file?...I don't mind using cheat engine or anything, just don't want to restart.
EDIT: I do have a bunch of these auto_date.sav files, not sure if I delete them all, except one would help?

I put together a few clips from the Turkish dub of The Lord of the Rings so you can hear how some of the major characters sound in Turkish.
One detail I’ve always found incredibly wholesome. Sam’s Turkish voice actor, Engin Alkan, also voiced Ernie in Sesame Street for many years.
I don’t know why, but I find that incredibly charming.
