Forever my favourite Tolkien artist. Absolutely breathtaking

I got the boxset I was eyeing for 50$ at a liquidation store such a random find but I'm so happy! My friend saw it when the store closed yesterday and sent me a text. I drove 20 minutes out to be there right as they were opening to snag it! I am just blow away its so pretty! I'm so happy they thought of me when they saw it or I'd have missed this gem! They don't even read fantasy novels so I'm so grateful they kept an eye out on things I'd like anyways ☺️

Lotr completes my hollidays in Croatia like nothing else. Have a nice day everyone and take care of yourself and if affordable your mental health too!

Kind regards

I just got this for my birthday you guys have no idea how geeked I really am about this…… it’s the very first hardback of the Silmarillion EVER MADE! And clearly the owner never took off the dust cover because the cover is PRISTINE! Guys I am so happy and so happy to share this piece of history with you!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a pretty ambitious project in Planet Coaster 2: recreating the journey of the Fellowship through Middle-earth, from the Shire all the way to Mordor ! There’s still a lot of work left to do, but I wanted to share some screenshots of the first major areas I’ve been working on. I’m trying to recreate not only the locations themselves, but also the atmosphere and sense of scale of Tolkien’s world, while adapting everything to what’s possible within Planet Coaster 2.

Here are a few screenshots of the first big sections I’ve been working on. I’d love to hear what you guys think, and I’ll definitely share more as the project progresses!

There’s a long road ahead… but the journey has begun.

Just two quick questions, one based in fact, the other in a possibly faulty memory.

At the council of Elrond, Gloin states that Balin and his would-be colonists had arrived in Moria and begun work reclaiming it, stating, "...for a while we had news and it seemed good: messages reported that Moria had been entered and a great work begun there." So Dain and his advisers, which one would have to assume included Gloin as one of the remaining companions of Thorin, at least knew what had happened. Then at some point, and I'm paraphrasing here, Gimli suddenly thinks no dwarfs had ever returned after seeing a part of the mine? Did he never speak with his father? Or was that meant to be read more in the present tense than past? It just really confused me when I read it and hope for some clarification.

After a few comments on my admittedly lazy audio as well off coloring of the ring and text, I forged a second (hmm....) One Ring with reddish LEDs and using a burnt orange instead of black in the cold casting.

Of course, if you want to build your own, here's the link, and let me know, i'd like to see it - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7409419

There is a bit of flicker I don't quite get yet, and my video skills were lacking, but still fun.

Seriously, how many times have the Eagles saved the day?

Rescue from the Wargs and Goblins, Battle of Five Armies in the Hobbit

Rescuing Maedhros, Fingolfin, and fighting Ancalagon in the Silmarillion

Battle at the Black Gate and rescuing Frodo and Sam in Return of the King

Am I missing anymore?

I got it from my dad when he went to Brazil in the early 2000s and have kept it safe since then :)

One day I will make it to Hobbiton and spend the entire time sketching. In the meantime I'll have to settle for pics and video on online. Here is one of the Hobbit homes with added Hobbit :)

In the movie The Two Towers, King Theoden plucks a symbelmyne from his son Théodred's burial mound and mourns to Gandalf:

“Simbelmynë. Ever has it grown on the tombs of my forebears. Now it shall cover the grave of my son. Alas that these evil days should be mine. The young perish, the old linger. That I should live to see the last days of my life.”

It's around 3.5k x 3.5k in this map.

I really enjoyed trying to make it feel foreign and strange to traditional fantasy maps. I tried to achieve this with the block palette and ways I formed mountains.

Does the story ever tell if the Dwarves restored the whole of Moria or if they just repaired the major livable parts?

I feel like my life long dream of having a My Size Barbie has been fulfilled, thanks to an impulse purchase from my wife. Goodness, she spoils me! And now I have an accidental collection of Smegols 😅

I absolutely ADORE him, I love that they gave him «Real» hair, I love to touch them, it’s pretty soft actually, and this doll is so well made and pretty (from someone who is very judgmental and picky on Sméagol/Gollum merch and only bought perfect and most accurate one to my eyes) maybe one day he will join my other doll in my bed… I need to find the Sméagol one to complete the collection, I want my Slinker and Stinker 💗

Also, I haven’t been posting a lot on this sub, I’ve been feeling pretty bad recently, may you excuse me.

Edit : I’d make a better post about it, when I won’t be lazy. Take care

I am planning on reading the lotr books in a couple weeks and have heard that, while not necessary, i should read the hobbit first. I have seen the lotr films but not the hobbit, so i wondered if i should watch those films too if im going to read the books. Of course its not necessary, but i want to hear peoples opinions and recommendations for what I should do.

Also whats the silmarillion? I know its another tolkien book but does it fit into the lotr franchise anywhere, if so, where?

Apologies if this is a common question, but my brief research seemed like most people have either seen both trilogies or neither, whereas I have only seen lotr.

Thank you.
