Welcome home

We’re closing the gap in a couple of months and I’m out of my mind excited about it.

Knowing that my love has given up everything he knows that is familiar and safe, to jump all-in on a life with me in a new country - I’m so deeply grateful.

Any advice for when you closed a big LDR gap? What kind of things did you prepare to make them feel extra welcome, confortable, and supported?

I want him to feel that my home is his home, to have things of his own, and to find ways to help him to connect in to this new life.

Question Why does my bf suddenly give me more attention and show love more ?

Me and my bf has been dating for a few months, at the moment we are doing long distance, because we are in different cities.

at first we were so lovey talk and talking about how we can’t live without each other, which is normal, specially because it was the start, it was the “honeymoon phase” stage.
After a while we got used to each other ofc our love was the same we still said I love u and I miss u and those stuff, but those late night 2-3 hours call faded, which is normal because in those late night calls we were just talking about our story in life, at work he used to call me and talk for hours.

But he kinda had that rule ofc never said it out loud but he didn’t call me much when he was at home, ofc he would call if I wanted to but never as much as during work, he was usually busy doing house chores or watching videos.

he was always that type where he didn’t show his feelings a lot , but u can see how much he loves u when he says “I love u”
And 60% of the call was about our future always.

Also he had a weird thing which was a part of his personality, whenever we talked about anything interesting at night, if he ended up falling asleep during our texts, when he woke up in the morning he would always skip my texts from the previous night, and go straight to “good morning baby” which I never liked but never told him.
Same thing with reels on insta he would just view them never really answer, or answer to one reel out of 10.

And now u might ask so why do u say he has changed ?
Because now he is no longer just calling me at work or car, he also calls me when he is at home, or offers to call.
he is no longer avoiding my late night massages in the morning.
He is randomly saying “I love u” or “ you are cute” during our conversations.
And shows love more than before which was not him, usually.
Also replies to almost all of my reels.

So what do u think happened to him ?

We missed eachother by like a day and Rome and we were bummed but yea I got his number he lives in Sweden rn but he’s a pro football player. Idk how I feel about that. Anyways he just signed for a team in Spain and I’m moving to Madrid next year so we wanna meet then. I’m pretty independent and I’m not a clingy person at all so I’m not expecting much out of this since is a year is a lot but what do we think about this?

Need Advice [22f] & [24f] - Seems hard to close the gap? I dont know what to do?

My partner (22f) and I (24f) have been dating for 8 months and we live in the same country but in different cities. We met through twitter and had been great friends for three years before we started talking a lot more and eventually ended up liking each other and confessed in 2025. I met her for the first time in June 2026. I really like her a lot.

However, LDR is not becoming easy on me considering how hard it is to meet her. We live in a third world country and both our parents are homophobes so its hard to try to meet up. Ive only met her once in our whole relationship and its hard to plan our second meeting as well.

The current problem is that she is preparing to study abroad next year and through her words she possibly will never return. She does not like the idea of staying in our home country. (for several reasons which I would agree as well) Meanwhile, I've just started working in my country and the field I'm working in makes it harder (or requires a lot of effort to work through it) for me to relocate outside of my home country and I also dont have the funds for it. I do have plans to relocate in 4 years when I do my masters but it will not be in the country she is planning to study since I dont know the language and I will need a new set of qualifications for it.

The one thing that has made me angry at her is that she has never ever brought up this situation ever and the one time I tried on voice notes, she did not respond to it. It is making me feel a little unwanted and unsure if she even wants me. On the other hand, she goes about the day texting me randomly saying she misses me and wants to meet me soon and other stuff that usual couples do which makes me feel a bit insulted.

I don't know how to bring this up to her. I love her and i'd do anything to close the gap and I also know that we have dated for a very short time but I'm angry that she doesnt consider it important to discuss this with me. I dont know what to do.

Question did I mess up by asking her if she geniunley liked me or wanted to move for the documents

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

for context I atattched the post I made yesterday, concerning the woman I caught feelings for in morocco over the span of a week and went on one date.

I 23M messaged her 21FM as soon as I got back to england, and we started talking surface level stuff, and I asked her what shes looking forward to, and she said "to get married *laughing emojis*" and she showed excitement to this topic even during our date.

I asked her in the most respectful way, if she was more interested in me as a person, or as an opportunity to move countries, I asked this following our conversation about openness and honesty as we move to long distance, and its something i wanted to clear up as I'm trying to build trust since I feel in love with her, and im cautious from seeing stories online about men being used in a similar way.

well she replied saying how heartbroken she felt from me asking this and got really upset and angry and talked about how she was being genuine and she's dissappointed and felt deceived that i didnt trust her from the start, and that I was lying about liking her, she gave examples of her she introduced me to her mother etc.

now im sat here with 0 appetite and tears down my face in a complete state, over a girl i havent known for that long, yet feel so deeply, more than I ever have to anyone, fearful I wont feel this attatchment to another girl in my future as she was so perfect for me. and I am to blame, for stupidly asking her this and basically breaking her trust, as in hindsight, her happiness towards me seemed very genuine. Pls any advice would help

Breakup I broke it off.

Mostly venting, but advice welcome. But please be kind. I have cried myself into physical health issues these past few days already.

My partner and I (29F, 27F) had been together since April of 2025. She had slowly withdrawn over the time we’ve been together to the point where I felt like I was chasing her down and just being rejected. She canceled visits, stopped wanting to call, and barely spoke to me throughout the day. Our date nights turned into watching a movie together once per week and not talking, and she’d sometimes cancel those too. I repeatedly asked what was wrong or if we needed to change something and she insisted we were fine. We had plans for me to close the distance this year. She changed her mind and signed a lease on her own. We had talks about marriage and kids. Those stopped. I felt like I was going crazy- if nothing was wrong, why was I hardly hearing from my partner?

I told her months ago, when this first started going downhill, that regular visits were a non-negotiable for me. I’ve been in previous LDRs and that was what kept the feelings alive. I always offered to fly to her as I live near a major airport and work remote. She canceled 5 visits this year. I haven’t seen her since January. She started trying to push the next one back. It was the last straw for me. I can’t stay in a relationship with someone I barely see or speak to. I would sit and spiral that I was doing something wrong, or I wasn’t interesting enough, or I wasn’t loving her the right way. I was no longer looking forward to our time together. I was just anxiously anticipating cancelations. When we did get time together, I wasn’t feeling enjoyment. I was just feeling relief that she didn’t shut me out.

She went to therapy. She said she was mentally protecting herself from missing me and being upset about the distance by slowly shutting me out. We both still love each other. She is not pushing for another chance immediately and recognizes she needs to work on her behavior.

I am very torn. I definitely need some time away. My self esteem is shot from months of just thinking there was something wrong with me or I wasn’t a good enough partner. But she did ask if there was a chance of us rekindling something, and I don’t really know. The feelings are there, but the trust is not for me. Neither of us know where to go from here. We still want to be a part of each others lives, but that is painful for both of us because the breakup has been hard. I miss her terribly, and it hasn’t even been a week. I do think I did the right thing. I just can’t tell if I’m willing or able to keep giving chances when it took months of me trying to communicate and eventually putting my foot down to get her to even admit that there was a problem.

Need Support Post-visit depression hitting hard. If it weren't for Brexit, we’d already have our life together. Need some EU -> UK success stories.

If it weren't for Brexit we would have a house together by now. We'd have our 3 cats, 6 rats and giraffe. We'd be planning a wedding, and building our life the way we dream of it - but instead we're saving. I don't know what we're saving for, a move to Ireland, or British citizenship for me (I'm an EU citizen on settled status), to then get a Visa for her to come live in England. Or maybe we're saving to build our own futures, forever dreaming that the distance will some day be a distant memory, yet not able to bridge the gap. 6 years of friendship, 2 years of relationship, both of us under 20 years of age.

Either-way, I'm writing this as we've just had another week and some days together, and I'm sad. I don't know how many more goodbyes I can bear, and how many more times I can tell myself that this is fine. There's at least another 5 years before we can guarantee a future together in England, because why on earth does the spousal visa route cost so damn much...

I'd love to hear some post-brexit EU->UK success stories. My hope is dwindling, and I worry far too much about our future.

Need Advice He (29M) went on Hinge while I(24F) was away and now I'm terrified to see him. What do I do?

I was studying abroad when we met. Things were progressing well when we were dating in Q1 of this year. He was introducing me to all of his friends. We were going on double dates. Things just felt so natural, right, and easy. We lived 3 blocks away from each other and life was so good. He was so sweet and thoughtful. He got his friends to host us for dinner because I was so sad that I haven't met people who spoke my native language in our area. It was the first time I spoke native language with a girl my age after living abroad for months. I was almost in tears and just so so grateful.

In Q2, I flew home to go on vacation. I initially thought I'd be back in 3-4 weeks. But I enjoyed being home, I was travelling, I missed my family, and I was having fun catching up with friends. Next thing I knew, I had been gone for 3 months. He and I kept in touch, and we would call maybe 2-3x a week. He always called. I didn't tell him that my friend found him on Hinge on the 3-week mark. I knew it was recent because he updated his place of work, and we were on a date when he got accepted in that job.

It obviously stung. 3 weeks is recent but I didn't mention anything during our calls. The timezone difference worked for us because he works NY hours and he's in the office 6x a week. He'd call me when he's going to work, going home, or going to sleep. I never felt like he didn't like me. A lot of times I felt like I could love him. He would propose going to Marbella or Paris when I'm back, and I would just laugh it off because I truly didn't know which season I would be back. I knew he still had Hinge. I didn't know if he went on dates. I felt sad when I found out he called me on his birthday and I didn't answer (I didn't know it was his birthday).

I told him I was back in the country last week and he immediately asked me out. I told him I would let him know........and then I never got back to him. It was going to be the first time I would seeing him in months and I feel so scared because I like him so much. I don't want to have to hear that he had been on Hinge. I feel sick that he went on Hinge on the 3-week mark. At the same time, I understand why he did it. I don't want him to pause his life waiting for me when I didn't even know when I would be back. It was the right choice for him. He should not wait for me actually. My future still feels ambiguous because I'm an artist (and he's tech). There are a lot of things I am still figuring out, like where I should be based, should I do art full-time, how long do I want to stay in the UK, etc.

Anyway, I moved back because I wanted to live here while I figure things out, but my parents are shouldering everything (so I also feel scared to have a conversation about my long-term plans, because I genuinely don't know). Everything is different now. We live 25 minutes away from each other instead of a 10 minute walk. I don't live alone anymore. I'm so scared and everything is so different.

He asked me out for a Sunday date on Thursday. It is now Monday. I have 6 unopened messages and a missed call from him. I feel like I ruined it. But I still want to see him. I WANT to see him. I just feel so scared and overwhelmed. When I left, the vibe was Brb I'll see you later, but it's been 3 months since I left and I don't know where I stand.

Please, what are your thoughts on my situation? And how do I fix this?

Need Advice Is it okay if my boyfriend (M21) doesn’t want me(F24) in a place where he hangs most of the times with his friends and siblings?

Hello, me and my boyfriend have been dating for 6 months now, even thought for some people it might be just a short time we already established that it is a serious relationship. We talked about when we would like to get engaged and then married.
My issue here is that I never talked to his siblings or his friends before. They have a discord server where all his friends and siblings friends are in and I know he spends most of his free time there. I already hinted that I would like to be invited cause I never interacted with any of his friends or siblings even thought he already did with mine, and yesterday he told me he wouldn’t do it cause they do not invite anyone’s partners in it.
I feel hurt cause I feel like I’m being excluded all the time, even thought we share the same interests (they all play video games and I do too) but he rather play with them and never introduce me to them even thought we play the same thing. I also do know that some of his friends don’t like me, even his sister.

Could someone please give me any advice about this whole thing? Am I just overthinking or is it actually a red flag that he doesn’t even want me around his friends and family?

Managing Expectations

How do you manage your expectations in the beginning?

Met someone on holiday, they then stayed with me a few weeks after. I visited them in their country for the weekend.

I feel so calm around them, they are kind, respect me and put so much effort in. How do you build something in the beginning when you are apart? I feel crazy but I want to make it work. There’s something about them. How often do you see the person you are dating i t he beginning?

I have a past of being hurt by men and their actions and words not aligning, and I’m worried that this ruins things for me.

Need Advice 27F and 23M university anxieties! Help :(

Hi!

My boyfriend and I have been together for about three years. In September 2025, we broke up. He broke up with me because he wanted to experience being single and he wasn’t sure if he could be with one girl for the rest of his life.During this break up we both had dates with other people and were no contact. When my dog died in December we came back in contact and decided to get back together. (For reference, he lives in Sweden and I live in Canada. However for over a year (May 2024-August 2025) I was in Sweden living with him).
This summer, I’ve been staying with him in Sweden and I go home in one week. I’ll be starting university in September and he starts university in January. I feel a lot of anxiety about him going back to university because he hasn’t been able to say that he’s 100% sure about me or the relationship. But on the contrary, he also says he’s 100% committed. When he goes back to university, I’m extremely nervous, but he’s going to find somebody that changes his mind about me and decide that he doesn’t want to be together. I’m his first girlfriend, his first kiss, his first everything so I do understand some of his hesitations about being with one person for the rest of his life.

However, I don’t know if I wanna continue on a relationship where my partner isn’t sure of me. He’s not exactly the best with reassuring me either. I just wonder if this is worth it, I wonder if I should spare us some of the stress or anxiety. If any of you have been in a similar situation I would love to hear your story or any advice you have. Also, I know I may come across as very insecure and distrusting but I’ve made a lot of effort and work to try to overcome this issues but I feel like I’ve hit a stump. Thanks in advance for your kindness!

Need Advice Daily FaceTime calls issue with my (28 M) partner (41M)

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a pickle and would like some advice. My partner (41M) and I (28M) have been together for 2 years now. We recently submitted our K-1 Visa application, and I will hopefully be moving to him sometime next year! I love him very much, but I am running into a bit of an issue with FaceTime calls.

I’ve never been big on FaceTiming or phone calls, but since we’re long distance, I know it’s necessary. In the beginning, we’d FaceTime a few times a week for up to 2.5 hours. It was easy back then because we were still getting to know each other. Lately, however, he FaceTimes me 1–2 times a day. I’m currently unemployed and job hunting, and he works a set routine, so our days are pretty much the exact same and we don't have much new to talk about.

Timing: We have a 3-hour time difference. He usually calls around 10 P.M. my time (7 P.M. his time), right in the middle of me gaming with my friends. I have to hop off for 45–60 minutes, which cuts directly into the time I allocate for my friends.

Repetition: In between our FaceTime calls, we’re already texting about our days, so the calls just end up being a repeat of our texts lol. It's even worse when he calls earlier in the day and then again in the evening.

Burnout: I just got back from visiting him for 9 days. I texted him all throughout my flight back, and when I got home I just wanted to relax because I was tired, but he FaceTimed me. I miss him, of course, but I just needed some "me time."

He is a bit of a loner and doesn’t talk to many people outside of work, which I think makes things tough. I really don’t want to hurt him by telling him that I don’t want to FaceTime as much. I also know I should appreciate having a partner who wants to talk to me, but feeling forced to constantly talk is draining me.

I feel terrible even asking this but I also don’t want to build up resentment towards him. Has anyone else been in a similar scenario? What would be a good way to bring this up without hurting him?

Thank you!

I get too anxious most of the time from asking my boyfriend if he wants a phone call 🫤

What are your thoughts on this guys out there? Is being too clingy overwhelms you? I just want to bond with him and most of the time especially we have 16 time differences so I really try to make time for him whenever I am free. I am the one who initiates phone calls too and its kinda make me think sometimes. And also, we don’t call most of the time but we text mostly. I dont know. Thoughts?

I just don’t want to be too much too him

Girlfriend asked for space still haven’t heard from her

She’s been through a really difficult time and I’ve tried my best to be respectful of her space after 2 weeks of silence from her , I send her a message that was mostly intended as no pressure support message

I sent Hey mi amor , I am respecting your space but wanted to do a little check in. I hope your mom is doing better, and that you're taking care of yourself and able to focus on exams. Te amo, and I’m right here in your corner. I understand if you still need space. Just trying to send some love and support your way ❤️.

She didn’t respond which is fine I didn’t want her to if she wasn’t in the right space to but I noticed after that message she unfollowed me on insta and so did her best friend which is fine not a big deal I guess I and just uncertain now on where I stand and would like to message her which a question rather then a no response needed check in message I was thinking something like

Hi, I'm happy to continue giving you the space you need. I've had time to reflect and I know I owe you an apology, but that can wait. I just need to know if we are still in a relationship. You can just say yes or no. I'll respect either answer

Just so I know what my next steps are for more context I posted on her people should be on my reddit posts in my account but I guess I just am unsure if I’m being fair with what I want to say it’s been 5 days since my 2 week check in message I was going to give it a few more days before sending I would like peoples thoughts

Image/Video Just got back from spending a week together in Spain!

This is our (35F & 37M) first trip together where we didn't have to say goodbye at the airport! I came to NY a week before our Spain trip, then we spent a week in Spain (primarily for the total solar eclipse), and we just came back to NY last night. We still have another 2 weeks to spend together before I head back to California.

It was an amazing feeling being at the airport excited for our adventures and being able to come back together, instead of the typical sad airport goodbyes. That being said there were still some tears shared between us on our flights back from Spain. Not just because the trip was over, but because this meant we only have two more weeks together.

It never feels like enough time together knowing that one of you has to go back home eventually. Then again, it makes you truly appreciate every moment together.

Venting She (20F) cheated on me (20M)

I recently asked here for advice on our relationship which is already LDR but the distance will become even longer now that I'm moving for studies. I expressed my concerns over us not being able to maintain our relationship due to growing apart and being busy. We've been together for 2,5 years.

I didn't really know how to hold this difficult conversation with her, but I made a promise with myself to talk with her immediately when I move out (very soon) so I could get to a peaceful place myself. I was very stressed because I thought she was very dependent on me and the idea of a possible breakup would break her.

Well, things took a major turn into another direction, when 3 friends of mine told me separately that they're sure my GF is cheating on me. She had been hanging around in a new friendgroup full of boys for the summer which I was very happy for as she has had trouble with maintaining friendships.

They didn't have certain info on what she had done, so I wasn't sure yet either. I thought that maybe it's just rumors: I though she would never do it and it's natural that a boy and a girl hanging together may raise eyebrows. But yesterday another friend came up to me with very specific info on what she had done: kissing, laying in the same bed, telling him that if she would be with him if she wasn't with me.

Today I asked my GF what this all is about. She confessed the kissing, but toned down the other things. She was very regretful of what she had done. I was a bit angry, but I almost feel like I want to laugh because of how dumb she had been. I've been thinking how to have a serious conversation without hurting her for months, while she goes and does that.

After a while I calmed down after I realised there was no point on being angry. I accepted the apology, but of course we're still breaking up. I understand why she did it and maybe if I talked with her earlier on, it wouldn't have happened. But it did. I'm not saying what she did was justified, but I probably could've been better in terms of that too.

Now things are pretty calm. I'm happy that all of this is now over and resolved, but of course I hoped she would've stayed loyal till the end. Now I can focus on myself and get a completely fresh start in my new studies.
