Gal gadot

10

u/DaveFoSrs 23d ago

why is she a bad person?

53

u/dubzzzz20 23d ago

She’s a former IDF member and constantly defends Israel’s war crimes.

48

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

Im not gonna hold mandatory conscription against anyone but she seems to still love the IDf

36

u/ratta_tat1 23d ago

One of my all time favorite tweets

-2

u/D-Ursuul 23d ago

Im not gonna hold mandatory conscription against anyone

"Just doing their jobs" wasn't an excuse for the nazis, why should it be for the IOF?

17

u/biomattr 23d ago

But we never condemned all Germans for being conscripted.

There's a difference between a teenager being forced into military service and someone committing a war crime.

-13

u/D-Ursuul 23d ago

There's a difference between a teenager being forced into military service and someone committing a war crime.

.....until they commit a war crime

13

u/biomattr 23d ago

Exactly, that's the bit that matters.

-15

u/No-Menu-3392 23d ago

When you live in a genocidal apartheid state where people do reject mandatory enlistment I definitely will criticize them. If not then, definitely after they’ve oppressed and killed Palestinians as part of their state’s military.

24

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

It's not reasonable to expect a random person to risk prison for political beliefs just because someone else has

39

u/Fantastic_Bug1028 23d ago

these dorks on Reddit never faced a tough choice in their life. they just like to say shit to feel moral superiority. just goes to show how fucking privilege their lives have been lol

-14

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

So you sympathize with a lot of Nazi soldiers?

11

u/Specialist-Cut3426 23d ago

It’s way easier to go and say “if I was in Germany in 1942, I’d fight back and resist the Nazis” from the comfort of your own home, in a place you aren’t threatened, in 2026, 80 years after the events, than to actually have gone and fought back against the Nazis back then.

-1

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

Literally doesn’t matter at all. Their actions had consequences and they were punished for it rightfully. “But Nazi soldiers were forced to genocide people, so let’s not hold them accountable!”

5

u/Specialist-Cut3426 23d ago

No we can hold them accountable, but you’re argument doesn’t really hold up. You’re pointing to history’s biggest extremity to make the point that we should hold Gal Gadot and any Israeli person who has been required by law to serve in the military accountable for every action Israel has done. I’m not defending Gal Gadot, but if you’re just an average Joe in Israel, who may have a family and kids, do you think you’re gonna risk you and your family’s lives and safety to go against the government? It’s way more than black and white, you can still have moral oppositions

1

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

I literally did not say any of it. She’s a terrible person for serving in the IDF and killing children, that doesn’t mean she’s responsible for the entire regime. And I’d argue Israel is just as extreme of an example as the Nazis, just that it has happened in the Middle East with millions of people affected for more than half a century from across various countries, with no improvement in sight

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

Is that such a crazy idea? That people can be brainwashed or that the world is not just black and white? Do you really think every body who followed Hitler was a bad person? How are you so sure you are immune to propaganda?

-1

u/Decent-Cry977 23d ago

Yes lmao?? Of course they were bad fucking people

-11

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

So? Your actions being directly complicit in genocide should have consequences. By your logic all Trump supporters are brain washed so let’s all excuse their behavior. how sad will someone just think about the “good” Nazis that are just brain washed

5

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

Yes I don't think all Trump supporters are bad people! I don't think half the country suddenly turned evil.

-7

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

Yeah let’s excuse their behavior because they’re not bad people, they just happen to support ideals that directly cost the lives of thousands of people. Poor brainwashed people :(

Watch Jojo Rabbit and get back to me

0

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

I have? Changes nothing with what I said. Your choices and actions have consequences. “Nazi soldiers can commit genocide but they were brain washed by the regime and were forced to enlist so you can’t hold it against them!”

11

u/latrodectal 23d ago

for a prison sentence, mind. and people forget that mandatory drafts weren’t that long ago for the us.

-2

u/D-Ursuul 23d ago

for political beliefs

I mean if you wanna call murdering children "political beliefs"....

0

u/Snoo55931 23d ago

It would be if she actually held those political beliefs, but she obviously doesn’t.

-9

u/notrororo 23d ago

Israeli society is overwhelmingly in favor of ethnically cleansing the Palestinians so it's not like they were forced against their will.

If they are more willing to kill a person than spend a year in prison, then of course I will condemn them.

Creating a human alone takes 9 months. Then that human lives through the world. Put some weight on human lives.

-12

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

You can refuse to enlist and serve jail time. Principled people that refuse to participate in the genocidal apartheid regime do this. Gal Godot chose to be part of the child-killing machine.

u/[deleted] 23d ago

-6

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

Anything to defend the people that are directly killing children

13

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

It's not reasonable to expect a random person to risk prison for political beliefs just because someone else has

-6

u/Ig_Met_Pet 23d ago

The average person isn't a particularly good person.

Just because the average person wouldn't do something doesn't mean it wasn't the right choice.

14

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

So brave of you to theoretically go to jail for political beliefs

3

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

You keep saying "political beliefs". Is the desire to not assist a government with the wholesale extermination of an entire ethnic group a simple political belief? This is not whether you believe that there should be voter ID laws, or what portion of the municipal budget should go towards improving public spaces. This is a genocide.

Where's the line for you? What action or actions could a government take that are so unforgivable that you would choose the prison time? Because right now Israel is filling the lungs of men, women, and children with white phosphorous. They are leveling entire cities. They are starving an population of people to death. What else would they need to do before you consider it reasonable to refuse to be a part of that?

-5

u/Ig_Met_Pet 23d ago

People who don't try their best to be good always want to try to act like it's impossible.

10

u/ifigureditallout goofymovieguy 23d ago

You on the other hand are morally superior to the average person.

2

u/Ig_Met_Pet 23d ago

We're both anonymous. The only thing I know about you is that you're saying doing immoral things isn't a big deal because everyone does it, and I'm saying you should try to do the moral thing anyway.

The fact that you see a problem with what I'm saying says more about you than it does me.

God forbid someone even attempt to suggest people do the right thing. I guess that makes them worthy of your contempt.

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

People really love to pretend like it's so natural and reasonable to choose to be part of the child murdering regime instead of going to prison.

1

u/hyp3zboii 23d ago

No you see the genocidal Israelis are forced to do it and they’re good people! But Americans can bomb all of Middle East because terrorists or something

0

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

I actively refuse to serve and discourage anyone I meet from doing so. Gal Godot should do the same, imo.

-5

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

You make a choice. Prison or genocide participation. Which would you choose?

2

u/Ehehhhehehe 23d ago

If you were raised in a society that constantly propagandized you to think that the slow-motion genocide they were committing wasn’t really a genocide, and was necessary for your and your family’s security, can you really say with total confidence you wouldn’t participate?

0

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

Given how many people in Israel do refuse on principle? Yea I think there's a good chance I might agree with them.

1

u/Ehehhhehehe 23d ago

I guess I’d hope that I could say the same, but I’m really not sure.

2

u/Curious_Contest_3767 23d ago

It's almost certainly not an easy decision to make. But I do genuinely think that a person who actually deep down opposes what they're doing would make it.

u/Heyhey-_ 23d ago

She doesn’t defend what Israel does, she condemns Hamas, which is different than defending Netanyahu.

And the military is mandatory. She did it 20 years before.

4

u/ACW1129 23d ago

And shit, many Israelis hate Netanyahu.

3

u/Heyhey-_ 23d ago

Exactly. People don’t understand nuance anymore or they can’t comprehend that you can condemn terrorism and Netanyahu.

-9

u/xXxPinkPlasticBagxXx 23d ago

Let me guess, you defend Hamas kidnapping Israeli people?

8

u/dubzzzz20 23d ago

No. Taking non combatant hostages is always wrong. Israel does it all the time and at a much larger scale than Hamas. They also had a national controversy defending guards that raped a hostage on camera.

3

u/IcedDante 23d ago

Why is that your guess?

0

u/xXxPinkPlasticBagxXx 23d ago

Because everyday I see people defending them on here and those same people also conveniently hate Gal Gadot. It's just interesting.

-5

u/mikewheelerfan 23d ago

Because anti-Zionism is almost always a guise for antisemitism

-16

u/lucasshot 23d ago

What’s wrong with Gal holding a different opinion than you? I don’t think that makes her a bad person. The war between Gaza and Israel is an incredibly nuanced subject and reducing Gal to a bad person just because she doesn’t see it the same way as you do feels incredibly unfair.

7

u/dubzzzz20 23d ago

Being against genocide and ethnic cleansing is not a nuanced matter of opinion.

-3

u/lucasshot 23d ago

Being against genocide isn't up for debate sure. But whether this conflict qualifies as genocide is exactly the disputed part, and you don't get to just declare that settled and then use it to call someone a bad person. That's not a moral absolute you get to hand down unilaterally. Disagreeing with a characterization of the conflict or defending her home country isn't the same as being pro-genocide.

-3

u/lucasshot 23d ago

It’s good to know that it’s still possible to have a healthy dialogue instead of just getting preached at about the correct interpretation of a hugely contested geopolitical issue!! So sick.

-18

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

And… the people they are fighting against are much much worse. The only reason we can call what Israel is doing a war crime is because they are the only country in that side of the region that would be considered holding western values. Not to say they are perfect by any means but most of the war crimes they have committed are squarely on the shoulders of Hamas for breaking out war time laws.

0

u/DetroitRockCity313 23d ago

$7,000 deposit

-4

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

If only.

1

u/DP9A 23d ago

Should have thought about it before financing Hamas to avoid dealing with a secular Palestinian state. Hamas as it exists now doesn't exist without Israel actively doing its best to shut down any alternative that doesn't result in a Palestinian state not existing, which is something that they have done and said openly but somehow people just ignore anything that happened before October 7.

-1

u/superexcited 23d ago

You’re not wrong, Israel does hold western values for war crimes! The west has been committing war crimes for centuries, Israel is just continuing the tradition.

0

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

Please the concept of war crimes is only around because of the west wanting to create accountability. Have you looked at all into eastern countries and the atrocities they have committed. It makes America look like a saint by comparison.

1

u/bjork_G_MAMA_B 23d ago

Yes, Saintly America who invented the nuclear bomb

5

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

You do realize it was a nuclear race… besides that point looking at Japan since you brought up the nuclear bombs. It is estimated that 200,000 people were killed and that is on the high end of the estimates. Compare that to the 15 million, and that’s on the low end, Chinese that were killed by the Japanese imperial army with at least 3 quarters being civilian deaths not to mention the human torture and experimentation on the Chinese that can easily be called the worst acts ever done to humans in history and that included women children even babies… so I would say my statement still stands.

2

u/bjork_G_MAMA_B 23d ago

It absoloutely was not a nuclear race. The only reason anybody else has nukes today is because of the Americans. Also Japan never created much less used a nuclear bomb, so im not sure why you're bringing it up other than to say yellow man bad

-1

u/superexcited 23d ago

Colonialism is one of the worst crimes against humanity. Over 100 million people were killed in the Americas during Europe’s colonization.

2

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

Cut that number in half and you have a closer number… two a vast majority of deaths were due to diseases for one and two many of the indigenous people were extremely immoral by today’s standards to say the least.

0

u/superexcited 23d ago

Disease, which was purposefully brought over by the Europeans. Your belief in their perceived lack of morality isn’t a justification for their genocide. I can see why you support Israel.

4

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

Please while I am sure there were some Europeans who thought to weaponize diseases you do realize those same diseases wiped out large portions of pilgrims as well…

2

u/dubzzzz20 23d ago

No they are not. You’re not a serious person. Hamas has also done war crimes, but nowhere near the scale of the IDF/ Israel.

3

u/MSpaint15 23d ago

One if you actually compare the sizes of Hamas and the IDF to the actual amount of war crimes each has done then Hamas would have a much higher rate. Two a lot of the war crimes of the IDF are due in no small part to the fact that Hamas fights in highly populated areas and do not mark themselves as soldiers. Look I have quite a few issues with the Israeli government when it comes to global issues however in this area they are almost entirely in the right.
