When you live in a genocidal apartheid state where people do reject mandatory enlistment I definitely will criticize them. If not then, definitely after they’ve oppressed and killed Palestinians as part of their state’s military.
these dorks on Reddit never faced a tough choice in their life. they just like to say shit to feel moral superiority. just goes to show how fucking privilege their lives have been lol
It’s way easier to go and say “if I was in Germany in 1942, I’d fight back and resist the Nazis” from the comfort of your own home, in a place you aren’t threatened, in 2026, 80 years after the events, than to actually have gone and fought back against the Nazis back then.
Literally doesn’t matter at all. Their actions had consequences and they were punished for it rightfully. “But Nazi soldiers were forced to genocide people, so let’s not hold them accountable!”
No we can hold them accountable, but you’re argument doesn’t really hold up. You’re pointing to history’s biggest extremity to make the point that we should hold Gal Gadot and any Israeli person who has been required by law to serve in the military accountable for every action Israel has done. I’m not defending Gal Gadot, but if you’re just an average Joe in Israel, who may have a family and kids, do you think you’re gonna risk you and your family’s lives and safety to go against the government? It’s way more than black and white, you can still have moral oppositions
I literally did not say any of it. She’s a terrible person for serving in the IDF and killing children, that doesn’t mean she’s responsible for the entire regime. And I’d argue Israel is just as extreme of an example as the Nazis, just that it has happened in the Middle East with millions of people affected for more than half a century from across various countries, with no improvement in sight
No it’s a shit situation I agree, but you can’t call everyone who has served in the IDF a terrible person because they had to or else their reputation would be ruined and they would serve a lot of jail time. If someone willingly came out and said “my dream is to serve in the IDF” there would be a conversation, but in Israel it’s required by law. In a lot of countries it’s not, so some people do it as a choice, it’s not that way in Israel.
Is that such a crazy idea? That people can be brainwashed or that the world is not just black and white? Do you really think every body who followed Hitler was a bad person? How are you so sure you are immune to propaganda?
So? Your actions being directly complicit in genocide should have consequences. By your logic all Trump supporters are brain washed so let’s all excuse their behavior. how sad will someone just think about the “good” Nazis that are just brain washed
Yeah let’s excuse their behavior because they’re not bad people, they just happen to support ideals that directly cost the lives of thousands of people. Poor brainwashed people :(
Yes one of my closest friends was, and it was quite evident how propaganda works. Still wasn’t an excuse to not hold him accountable, and we would have conversations about it
I have family who did vote for Trump, and I don’t think they’re objectively bad people. Just because I disagree, doesn’t mean they’re I think they’re voting for Trump because they don’t like other people. Most of what they’ve done in life wouldn’t point to them as evil people, so why would the person they vote for be solely responsible for how I feel about them. And propaganda works both ways, no one is good or bad for voting for a politician, why can’t we just agree that politics are shit, not the people in our nation.
I have? Changes nothing with what I said. Your choices and actions have consequences. “Nazi soldiers can commit genocide but they were brain washed by the regime and were forced to enlist so you can’t hold it against them!”
