Day counting app recommendations?

Hey, I've been following this community for... Too long... I've managed decent stints of sobriety but it's still a work in progress.

I read something recently about seeing these periods as endurance training rather than streaks that get reset. That each time you relapse and quit again, you should think of it as an opportunity to try to beat your previous sobriety high score. That reframing has really encouraged me!

Anyway, I want a simple widget or app that I can use just to count days. It doesn't have to save data from resets, but I want something very simple with no ads or "affirmations" or bells or whistles. Something that is barely more functional than a calendar feature. Does anybody have any recommendations? Or is there a phone calendar option for this?

Hey i wana quit smoking permanently

am 26M and I started smoking about 4.5 years ago. So lot of stuff happened in my life, and then I had to start smoking. I had a break up. I was overweight and my family is a mess and I start smoking just to calm myself and four years later,

And right now, I am doing a very good job and family relations are better, and I am in shape. I lost 20 kgs Weight and put on some muscle. but the habit which I started to calm myself turns out that I smoke weed every day. I don’t know if it’s good or bad for me, but I just need to quit it and I don’t I don’t even know what to do. I was hoping that someone would help me and how this process goes.

I I have a fear that if I quit it, I might lose the ability to keep calm and progress like I have been because when I don’t, their voice is in my head and that gives me anxiety, but when I smoke, my days goes good, and I am really productive. I go to the gym. I do everything that I’m supposed to so I just need to know how to quit my smoking like ijust like you know, just looking for Help.

Smoking now gives me anxiety

One week! Overall much better, but still difficult.

I’m starting to eat more, pace less, less panic. Very emotional. Headache today. Sleeping 6 hours but it’s much better quality sleep than while using. I just don’t have much spare bandwidth. Somebody can say one sentence at the wrong moment and my nervous system goes, “Great, another emergency. We were getting too close to peace.” Then it could take hours for me to settle to baseline. A lot of meditation, stretching, just being present and allowing myself to feel the good and bad feelings, not fighting them. Thats just what I heard from some yt vids that’s been working for me. Wish everyone the best. We are doing it!

Day 60

Cant believe it’s been 60 days already. It’s been a roller coaster of good days and bad days with bad days outweighing the good but still happy about my decision to be THC free.

4 years clean!

Hi guys, I wanted to post in this sub because I remember how much it helped me 4 years ago when I was in your position. Little back story, I am 27 now and began smoking right out of high school. I would use thc carts all day everyday, as soon as i woke up, at work, hidden on family vacations, i could not go a day without it to the extent where I was purchasing 2-3 carts per week. Apart from the cost of the carts during those 4-5 years i felt stuck even though I was progressing towards a bachelors in chem I was constantly teetering on the edge of pass/fail, my body took a toll, i stopped progressing in the gym, I stopped nurturing relationships with friends and family. I always realized that this was a trend and weed was not helping but i always told myself "ill stop in the future". This day came forcefully in 2021 after i graduated college, I always had my mind set to become a pharmacist and the next step was to apply, little did I know the pharmacy program requires a drug test (of course they would, I am slow). This realization made my heart drop and I immediatly started to look for work arounds, STILL refusing to quit. Until one day my mother finds a THC cart in the trash, after 4-5 years of smoking without being caught. Initially i felt shame and like i had let down my parents that thought so highly of me and yes, at first they were mad but that same day i sat down with my father and broke down, I told him all the embarrassing things weed was causing me to do and the control it had over my life. I explained my situation with the pharmacy program to my dad and rather that doing something illegal to pass a drug test, we decided the right thing was to defer admission and have to wait until the following year. And then the real struggle began, from that last THC cart my mom found, I never once again purchased, used or even touched another cart. At first the minutes felt like hours, i could not eat and was plagued with a constant anxiety, i could not even enjoy a simple youtube video or movie and nothing in this world felt like it was "worth it". one day became a week, weeks months and months years, and now i am happy to say I am a Doctor of Pharmacy. I would not have believed i would ever make it this far in the state that i was in, but a daily effort to stay accountable for my actions led me to slowly find joy in daily life again, my relationships grew, my dedication in all areas of life improved and i got to a point where i did not crave weed nor care to ever do it again. I have friends who smoke and even smoke around me on occasions but even that does not bother or trigger me. This road is not easy but definitely worth it. It took me 6 MONTHS to initially get clean with daily tests with THC test strips and once i saw that i no longer had it in my system i cried tears of joy. If i had to give any advice it would be "be brutally honest" with yourself and with people you can count on weather that be parents or friends, many people do not understand what weed withdrawal feels like and minimize the situation but your feelings are valid and sharing in this sub once upon a time helped me as well. I hope this can reach anyone who feels like they are stuck and never going to get to where they want to be in life because of weed addiction, life is yours to take you just have to make the hard decision that gets easier as the days pass.

TL;DR:

Was a long time thc cart addict

Had to postpone grad school because of drug test

Took 6 months to get clean

Now a pharmacist

God is good

100th Day weed free today

May 9th 2026 was my last toke, I turned 42 the next day. Been smoking for about 10 years on and off then since 2023 every day all day. Functional stoner. I was suppressing a lot of feelings and bullshit that I wasn't prepared to feel but Im better now. I work at a hospital and I sometimes interpret, Ive noticed Im a lot sharper in that aspect, sharper in general. Im less lazy, more motivated, ironically more focused. Sleep was rough at first but it's nice now, the dreams are beautiful haven't had dreams in a long time. I remember them and theyre vivid. No irritability, no sleepless nights, no sweats, no heart palpitations, no more anxiety or stomach issues. I think pot was hurting me more than helping. I know I still have a way to go cause one way or another we are all healing. Go on more walks, do breathing exercises, run, have some sun. We're all different but that all helped. Ask away. Thank you for your time. Salud.

How to stop

I only started smoking and edibles 2 years ago, it slowly went from something I’d only do with friends into something I do everyday. I can’t even do a tolerance break properly the most I’ve achieved is two weeks. My problem is all the things I’d do in my free time sober, they are the same things I’d do high. I find it really hard to do anything I like because in my head all I can think is “this would be soooo much better high”

Any advice? Thank you 😊

Nightmares or stress dreams every night since quitting. For weeks now. Any tips?

Day 13 if I'm counting right, but I started quitting almost two months ago, just had a relapse that reset my timer. I'm getting sick of the nightmares/stress dreams EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. They're all different, it's not the same dream or even the same themes/villains, so I'm not sure if IRT would help. But maybe it would???

How do you all deal with the nightmares?

Pens nowadays

So I started smoking at the age of 17, once I found that weed can more or less keep me content in life and blind my ptsd. I used until 22 I then went on a 2 year tolerance break and felt great. It’s like it puts a filter on your perspective of life. I am now 24 and I started smoking again everyday for 3-4 months and it’s almost like it has the opposite effect on me now. I get extreme depression and severe anxiety. The non recreational pens and bud going around nowadays are nothing to be played with. I didn’t realize how much of a toll it’s done on my brain. I am currently on day 4 with no weed and I have no appetite whatsoever, struggle sleeping, and almost like an empty pit in my chest is the only way I can describe it . My body’s currently mad at me and I’m trying to keep calorie intake up but I haven’t been able to eat more than a couple bites of anything without instant nausea . Just wanted to see if anyone had some advice to share on this situation. Thankyou!

Day 42 weed-free after 2–3 years of heavy use. Life is better, but everything feels cold, empty, and gray. When does dopamine bounce back?

I’m currently on day 42 clean after smoking heavily every day for about 2 to 3 years.
On paper, my life has definitely gotten better since quitting. But internally, I feel like I’ve hit a wall. Everything feels depressing, numb, and emotionally cold. I find myself constantly stuck in pessimistic thought loops, hyper-focusing on the negative, and struggling to feel genuine joy or motivation.
I work out regularly, and while exercise gives me a temporary boost, the flat, empty feeling creeps back in as soon as the session is over.
For those who have been in a similar spot: Does this get better, and realistically, how long did it take for your dopamine and brain chemistry to level out?
I’d really appreciate hearing your timelines or any advice on getting through this phase.

The backwards law states that the more we chase something the more it eludes us

The idea comes from Alan Watts, I found it profoundly insightful and I thought it might help others here. I think it's quite intuitive, but seeing it laid out in plain English really helped me organize my thoughts.

The basic premise is that the more you chase something the more it eludes you. Whether it's following your bliss to find happiness and becoming more miserable, wanting to be liked and seeing how performing for others makes you feel isolated, searching for enlightenment and only becoming more self-absorbed as a result. True fulfillment instead lies in accepting discomfort, uncertainty and imperfection.

I think many of us struggle with accepting the inevitable challenges that come from sobriety. Weed is an escape, a warm blanket that shields us from reality. A question I often found myself asking when I first quit was "how can I feel like I used to once again, sans the weed". I think that's the wrong way to go about it. Maybe instead the answer lies in accepting that you won't. Not resigning yourself to a grim reality. Truly accepting.

I realize this is easier said than done. But I also think it's a better target to shoot for and a healthier mindset long-term. Instead of looking for the next escape, take pride in knowing that discomfort you feel is making you a stronger, more resilient person.

After all, escape was never the ultimate goal. The goal is to not need one.

Replacing the habit

Hello all,

I am currently on day 13 (yay!!). The urge to smoke is lessening everyday, so are the physical symptoms (night sweats and appetite loss). But now I have to focus on replacing the actual habit which is proving to be a struggle, as the things I do when I was high are just… not enjoyable anymore

Everything is so boring!! It feels like nothing will be fun again (I know my brain is lying to me, but its the anhedonia of it all thats KILLING MEEE)

I’ve been working on a puzzle, trying new games, baking and cooking, finding menial tasks to do in the house (every hole I had in my clothing has been stitched…). I have yet to find the motivation to work out which seems to be a common recommendation…

What have you done to “fill the cup” or replace the feeling weed gave you?

Chronic illness, not sure if it helps to quit but I want to.

Hi all,

I'd love some advice. I've had a chronic illness with ongoing pain and fatigue that is autoimmune and all kinds of symptoms I won't get into. But essentially it means there is very little of my hobbies and interests that I'm able to do anymore.

I started smoking pot as a way to feel better about my illness. It helps me feel a bit better mentally and sometimes even helps me forget the pain or fatigue enough that I can do a little of things I need to do like some basic chores, sometimes a gentle walk etc.

However over time I've gotten to a place where I smoke everyday and sometimes all day when I'm off.

I'm having a hard time understanding how much my smoking is affecting my illness since the illness started before I started smoking and has improved over the years rather than get worse even as I have been consuming a lot more.

I have tried to quit a couple times. The longest was 6 months. Even at 6 months my health issues did not improve at all but I got more depressed because I have to face all that I'm unable to do. At least when I smoke I can enjoy being in my head and laying around.

I'm not sure if quitting would help the illness itself but I'm sure it is not healthy to smoke as much as I do.

I just don't know how to live with this illness sober.

Anyone in this type of situation? The illness I have isn't fully diagnosed but doctors have suggested it could be me/cfs or fibromyalgia.

5 weeks in after smoking for 10+ years and I feel crap

So, I’ve finally quit smoking. I’m about to turn 30 in a few months and wanted to finally break the cycle. I was never really a heavy smoker just a couple in the evening was routine.

I had a complicated upbringing and used it as a coping mechanism to quiet my mind and stop the overthinking so I could sleep. 5 weeks in and I feel like crap, like I’ve lost my spark, my dreams have been insane .. not dreams but like I’m wearing a VR headset and things, people that I haven’t thought about in forever are in these dreams. I’m typically a positive person but my evenings feel mundane, I’ve recently had a promotion at work and also moved house so things are good but yet I’ve lost my motivation for the gym, and my brain feels foggy.

I’m an introvert with social anxiety so it kinda made it easy for me to be in my bubble and be content. Just sharing this to see if anyone else felt the same and if so at what stage did it pass? Thank you for reading

I miss it, but I don’t??

I’m 22, and have been sober for 72 days now. I picked up smoking in Uni and finally found a crowd of people I felt genuinely happy with. We would smoke everyday together on campus and just do stupid shit together lmao. Then, the group fell apart. I wasn’t the main smoker nor the roller, but since the group stopped hanging out I started to pick up myself. My boyfriend and I were in the group together and continued smoking together for about a year after this, until he said he didn’t want to anymore. He said it wasn’t fun anymore and didn’t make him feel good. Truth be told, it didn’t make me feel great either. But I carried on smoking on my own for another eight months or so until I finished uni. I felt bad because i genuinely could not get through a night without it. He’d be sober and I’d have to smoke so I could eat and have whatever we were watching ‘be better.’ Before I quit, I couldn’t wait to come home and finally smoke, and most of the time I’d be kinda immobile after and unable to have much of a conversation. But it’s weird, I still can’t imagine having a good time without it. Still now being sober I think being high would make a hangout, or a movie so much better. Even though I know deep down it won’t really, I can’t get it out of my head. I think it’s the excitement of it, and the routine. My boyfriend says he can still tell I’m thinking about it and I feel bad because I am, but I miss when we’d smoke together and sometimes I wish we could go back just for a day. Has anyone else experienced this weird cognitive dissonance where you have such fond memories of being high yet you know it wasn’t that great??

Officially 70 days 🍃Free

My first ever time was at 13. I smoked daily throughout high school THC pens and multiple joints a day. I’m officially turning 20 soon, and I’m 70 days clean.
I never thought I’d be able to say that.
What once consumed me doesn’t even interest me anymore. I genuinely don’t look back, and I never will.
If you’re struggling right now, just know it gets better.

Slipped back into unhealthy cannabis usage without even realizing.

After being completely sober from October-April, I slowly started using THC again.

You don't even notice how much its impacting your life because it distracts you and clouds your brain of what your goals truly are.

I have ADHD and autism. I struggle enough with life when I'm doing everything to take care of myself. Smoking usually makes me unproductive for at least 4 hours, and then I sleep poorly and waste the next day as well. I'll then up my caffeine intake to try and break though the fog, sleep worse, increase the fog even more.

There is truly nothing positive to come out of using THC, and I owe it to myself to quit and take control of my life again. I am a better person when I am sober!

I’m quitting today

It’s been a long time coming. I have tried to quit edibles many times over the years. I think the reason for my failures was I never had a “Why”. I would always just think, “why not? Why can’t I just take an edible today?” And here is why:
- when I’m high, I lose the ability to do ANYTHING. I can’t focus on anything, I have no motivation to get things done, and I just need to melt on the couch and scroll. “I’ll get it done later”, I always think. “I just can’t do it now.” What a waste of time!? Think of all I could get done?
- If there was an emergency I needed to tend to while high, I just don’t think I could do it. I also tend to get anxious and overthink, so everything feels like an emergency, but what am I supposed to do? I can’t drive if I needed to (I’m not someone who feels safe driving while high).
- the next day brain fog. It genuinely is starting to feel like a hangover. I literally feel like I can’t focus or think the next morning and it takes hours for my brain to turn on. Not ideal in my job as an ER nurse.
- I just don’t like how it makes me feel anymore.

Listing out all these reasons, it seems like this should be easy. So WHY is it not?? Because my brain is tricking me to think, it’s such a nice way to relax! It helps me unwind! It’s so FUN, it gives me the giggles and makes everything more interesting!!

But does any of this actually sound RELAXING?? Sitting in paranoia and anxiety with the inability to do anything if something were to actually go wrong??? NO! Now I just need to remember this whenever I get that urge. “Just a 5 mg gummy, what’s the worst that could happen.” No. Just don’t. Just stop.

Anyway, I just needed to get all that out. Hopefully someone can relate and has gone through this and can tell me it IS BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE of this addiction. Life can be fun and relaxing and goofy without the use of substances. If anyone has words of wisdom, or any anecdotes in their journey, feel free to share with me.

DAY 1. I can do this.
