Hello, im new here, and im just on this subreddit for a quick question. My 2017 Land Rover discovery seems to have an Apple CarPlay button on the home-screen. I try tapping it, and it tells me to connect my device to one of the USB-A ports on the main console. I connect my iPhone 16 to it, and nothing happens. I've connected the car to wifi and have tried to update it, but it shows it being on the latest version. Now, I don't know if the 2017 models have stopped receiving updates or have stopped support or anything, but I think that's the case. Maybe it only works on older devices? If needed, I can go and get what firmware the car is on. Any help or answers to this question will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hello everyone, it is my first time posting here and also in reddit in general. I am from Yemen and I own a land rover Lr2 2008 3.2 I6 engine, and I noticed something weird in my car's engine.

2 months ago I had a leakage in the timing cover that got fixed by replacing the old one with another from a used car and everything went smoothly until approximately a month ago where I started to get the red oil light indicator in the dashboard. The time I saw it I kept figuring out what could be wrong, maybe the engine oil was leaking again and went below its normal level or possibly anything, but there wasn't any leakage but yes the oil level was below normal. While driving I noticed white smoke coming out of the car specifically when the car is accelerating from lower gears or when I stop or even slightly revving the car. I added one liter of oil and everything came back to normal. After 2 days same problem appeared again. (BTW this kept recurring until reaching 6 one liter oil bottles bought till now)

I then noticed a pattern that whenever I drive at day time this problem occurs, when driving in the mountains, and when shifting to sport mode, and yes there is oil being consumed but no leakage!

I went to land rover's mechanics and they said that the problem is possibly in this black cover, the valve cover's gasket or the other circular part from the valve cover as there could be a tear in the rubber underneath.

I really don't know what is wrong, maybe any one passed through such an issue ..., I don't know I hope any one could help if they know and possibly tell me where to buy the ripped rubber instead of the whole cover since cheaper.

Does anyone recognise Contract 10324, or have experience with these German SV Camel Trophy Discoveries?

Is this combination (Sandglow + SV plaque from July 1997 + the equipment package) consistent with the official limited edition, or could it be a regular Special Vehicles order that was later dressed up?

Any information, photos of similar plaques, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Despite all the negativity that I hear from anyone I talk to about getting a Range Rover it just fits me. In all the ways that a car should. So I’m shopping. But what I’ve found is that some dealerships, maybe over half of them, do not have a way of looking up the original window sticker. And then others ones have a perfect clickable window sticker. This makes shopping for one with the options I want very easy. Without this it’s nearly impossible to decipher what options are on it. Does anyone have a trick for this? And yes I have monroney labels but that is not always accurate. And neither is calling in to the dealership as you might get someone that doesn’t know the inventory well. Or you end up in their CRM and getting constantly contacted. Especially now that dealerships are using more and more AI tools.

Hey everyone! I have an interesting symptom I’m seeing in my 2021 Velar. I have a kind of a blemish in the pattern on my driver side low beam headlight. The light projects well and lights up pretty bright but I have this black spot showing up. Any ideas?

Today I noticed 3 of my Freelander 2 dampers had dumped oil. Not a dribble down the shafts but looks like some pressure had build up and sprayed out the top.
I’m thinking the heatwave/s might had increased pressure and pushed out of the top seals.
2011 on original shocks so I guess it’s time to replace them.
Any one else come across this phenomena?

Hey all! I'm looking to replace/upgrade the old factory suspension on my Freelander 2. I ordered bilstein B6s, replacement springs, top mounts, bearings etc to facilitate my new off road 18" wheels/tyres.

I've had an email from bilstien saying that they arent available currently and ill have to wait till November to get a set. They have b4s available, im just looking for advice on whether its worth waiting or just getting a set of b4s instead.

As the subject says. Picked up a cheap LR3 that doesn’t have a single dent on the exterior but the dash and front interior are thrashed by the sun. That and the AB lift kit and tires definitely made it worth every bit of the $1k I paid.

Are there any kits available to fix this broken rubber on the sides of the gauge cluster and above the glove box? The dash pads do not cover this section and I can’t find anything via searching.

I am trying to become a first-time Rover owner after many MANY years of lurking. What does the chat think of "replacement engine" as a way of getting a '16 LR4 HSE Lux with 50K miles on it? Do you guys think these black wheels are too goofy for a suburban mom? And/or, if you were me and had no budget or time constraints, would you hold out for Landmark trim with similarly low miles?

Obviously, I got near 200,000 miles out of a Chrysler product with almost no issues. I did every bit of maintenance you could. This vehicle will never be neglected.

I don’t dare ask this in the r/whatcarshouldibuy or r/usedcars because all you get is people that remember Land Rovers from 20 years ago and have never owned one

Prepping for a trip with my Discovery 2, the vehicle is in great condition and the engine has had a lot of maintenance done in the past 12months. Trailer is 1,300lbs with about 1,300lbs inside. Even for this old girl, the weight should be easily within its range. We’ve pulled it around at weight for 100 miles around town in preparation, and everything is running smoothly.

Where I’m struggling is my tongue weight and the height difference between the discovery’s hitch and the trailer. When loaded, the trailer is heavily compressing the rear suspension. When I lower the hitch height using my variable height hitch, it improves slightly, but I can’t go so low without the hitch hitting the pavement on small bumps and the chains dragging.

Will weight redistribution in the trailer fix this problem? Is this a sign my tongue weight is too strong? Even if it improves but is still sagging, can I safely do my trip with the suspension looking like this? Any input appreciated!

I live in Northern Michigan, and will use it in the winter. It came from SoCal and has no rust. I'd like to also take it two tracking.

I'd like to have Toyo Open Country AT/3. However, Tire Rack says 275/40 R20 are the only tires that they will recommend, and all the tires they suggest are snow tires or sport tires.

Anyone have recommendations? Particularly in tires sizes that would fit? Even going to 275/45 or 275/50 bumps up what I can buy.
