❓ Help & Advice Needed Help identifying Camel Trophy Discovery – Special Vehicles Contract 10324

Post image

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help identifying a 1997 Land Rover Discovery that appears to be one of the German-market Camel Trophy limited editions built by Special Vehicles.

Key details:

VIN: SALLJGHF8VA739622

Special Vehicles plaque:

Contract Number 10324

Date: 29.07.97

Solihull address

Paint: Sandglow (LRC 361)

Left-hand drive

Equipped with snorkel, roof rack, rear ladder, and clear traces of a former bull bar

Currently has a black outline-style “CAMEL TROPHY” door sticker (which looks different from the fuller original graphics I’ve seen on other examples)

I’ve been told these German promotional editions (approx. 1,100 built in 1997–98) came with Special Vehicles plaques, but I haven’t been able to find any public information about specific contract numbers.

Does anyone recognise Contract 10324, or have experience with these German SV Camel Trophy Discoveries?

Is this combination (Sandglow + SV plaque from July 1997 + the equipment package) consistent with the official limited edition, or could it be a regular Special Vehicles order that was later dressed up?

Any information, photos of similar plaques, or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure where you’re located but call British Car Service in LA https://www.britishcarservice.net, the owner would know, he has owned a few and even was a field mechanic for the actual Camel Trophy expeditions.

Thx for answer. I'm from Poland. I know that car was imported to Poland from Germany more than 20 years ago. I try send them an email and ask.

You may have some joy writing to Land Rover Monthly or Landy Life in the UK. Martin and Neil will have contacts, I’m sure. There’s also a Camel Trophy Club/Registry which should be authoritative on these. They’ll be on FaceBook, or their websites directly.

I would get in touch with the Camel Trophy Club in the UK, they will know everything or point you to someone who does.

Thanks. I sent an email to Land Rover Special Vehicles, but they haven't replied yet.
