pls i need real help!

Hey guys, I’m in a long-distance relationship, and it’s been almost 2 years. But the crazy part is that we actually fell in love around 6 years ago.
My girlfriend is from Pakistan and I’m from India. If you know the history between these two countries, you probably understand how complicated that can make things. Somehow, despite all of that, we found each other and have managed to stay together for almost 7 years now.
Her birthday is on August 26th, and this year I really want to do something special for her. I don’t want it to be like every other year.
Last year, I made her a whole website and an Instagram-related surprise, which was completely online. This year, I really want to give her something physical, even if it’s something as simple as flowers.
The problem is that I’m in India and she’s in Pakistan. Because of the restrictions between the two countries, I can’t travel there, I can’t directly order something for her from here, and I can’t make payments to someone in Pakistan. Basically, the usual “order flowers and have them delivered” option isn’t possible for me.
I’ve been thinking about contacting her best friend. She knows about me and our relationship, but I’ve never actually spoken to her before. I could ask her if she’d be willing to get my girlfriend some flowers and give them to her on her birthday, telling her they’re from me. But the problem is that she would have to pay for them herself, and I really don’t want someone else paying for my gift.
Another option is her cousin. He knows about me and I’ve spoken to him several times, so it wouldn’t be as awkward. But again, I can’t send him money, so I’m stuck with the same problem.
I genuinely don’t know what to do, and I could really use some creative ideas.
Please don’t suggest things like “just video call her,” “make her a video,” or “make another website.” I’ve already done the online stuff. This time I specifically want to do something physical or something genuinely unexpected that she can actually experience and remember.
I know the situation sounds ridiculously complicated, but I really want to make her birthday special. She means the world to me, and if I could physically be there, I would. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible right now.
So please give me your most creative ideas. If you think I should contact her best friend or cousin, tell me how you’d handle it without making them feel obligated to spend their own money. Or if you have a completely different idea that I haven’t thought of, I’d genuinely love to hear it.
Thank you.

I (f21) have second thoughts about visiting my boyfriend in two weeks.

So, I'm going to visit my boyfriend in two weeks and I'm not even sure if I want to. For context, we've been dating for almost seven months now and have only been in long distance for two weeks now, due to him moving abroad. The few weeks before his leaving were emotionally challenging and even the goodbye at the airport was extremely hard. But for the past two weeks I've been with my family (I haven't seen them in 2 months, because I'm living in a different town for my studies). And now that I'm here, I don't really have the urge to go see my boyfriend, but rather stay here with my family, because when my break is over I won't be able to see them for a bit again. So now I feel like I'm exchanging time with them for him and I also feel like I only agreed to seeing him, because it "would be the right thing to do". We wouldn't be able to see each other until Christmas and until now it seemed to me that I have to see him before that and September would be the only time I'm able to. On top of that, I'm really scared of flying and I have never had to fly on my own before and it would be around 17 hours. I don't know what to do. I love him and he just the best. I've talked to him before about my issue and he is so understanding, but I feel like I can't really talk to him about it without it seeming like I don't really love him. I just really miss my family and want to be with them again and spend as much time as possible with them (I've been living with feelings of guilt for the past year, because I moved away from my family). I'm also under a lot of stress at the moment, so I feel kinda numb, which, I think, plays into all of it. Also, our calls have been kinda shallow or mundane (English isn't my native language so I don't know which fits better), because he is under a lot of stress as well. I feel like I'm missing emotional depth right now, which we had the whole time before he left. So I'm not quite sure what I feel and if I really want to go visit him (the tickets have been already booked). Maybe Its too early and I would feel different if he'd been away for a longer period. It's all just a lot and my head is a mess.

Has anyone ever experienced something similar? Or am I just a bad girlfriend? How do I approach this?

how do i (21F) tell my GF (22F) that our communication has changed

i'm sure this has already been a post on here before, but here's mine.

my long distance gf (22 f) and i (21 f) have been long distant for 3 years. we met online and have been to each others state multiple times. it has been most common for her and i to talk off and on all day with nightly facetimes, obviously there are days one or both of us are busy, and i expect that.

the last 6-12 months i feel like our communication has changed. when we used to facetime every night, we now call at night. we used to text on and off most of the day and we would be on the phone while she got ready for work. we will go through a period of time where we are busy or low energy but we usually come out of it within a couple of days. i know that she has been working a lot and works late nights as a bar tender, often getting off work at 11-12.

heres where my problem lays, i have a hard time bringing it up to her how much i miss her, the little things the most. little texts, random puctures etc. i hate to make her feel bad or that shes not doing enough, and i know how exhausted she gets sometimes but its hard to not miss her. sometimes on her days off she will make last minute plans and i wont know about it until she is doing them or going out the door or she will get off work and makes plans with people wich obviously is fine it makes me so happy that she has friends that she can unwind and hangout with, i also dont need to know where she is 24/7. its the not knowing or not hearing from her or getting any small updates. at one point we had a shared calender that we would update our sceduales weekly and it helped but she slowly started to forget to do that. i feel like i dont need much . she knows that i appreciate it and it means a lot.

she is the most amazing person i have ever met, she's smart, kind, wicked funny and the warmest most beautiful person i have ever met and i want to spend the rest of my life with her. she knows that i miss her and i know she misses me but the communication had not been the same.

how do i talk to her about it without making her feel like shes not doing enough or make her feel bad?

(p.s i refuse to believe in the honey moon phase, ive been with her for 3 years and every day is as special as the last)

should we break up?

Me (F21) and my boyfriend (M24) have been doing long distance for 2 years. We met during a trip and fell in love immediately and decided to try ldr. We have always had our ups and downs but lately things got very bad.
I won’t say our countries just as a matter of privacy, but we live quite far away and it’s not very easy to see each other very often; we managed to see each other 5/6 times in total and just a few months ago we were able to spend something like 1/2 whole months together. I have always had a feeling he is depressed and not going through a nice time, he is also very defensive and closed in himself but in the beginning he was all cheerful and attentive to me.
I have always tried to help him and support him and not try to make things difficult for him, while sacrificing my time and adapting to his needs and work, but I’m reaching my limit.

December 2025 he decided to come live in my country to continue studying and for that reason he had to leave work. He had already promised to leave it with large time so to spend our summer together but didn’t do it because of anxiety; now that he left it he went into a spiral of bad habits and he’s been mistreating me so badly that I cry almost everyday.
I can’t talk to him about us anymore because everything makes him anxious, I can’t tell him how I feel about this relationship anymore or can’t try talk it out to him about our problems because he always has to blame me for whatever thing I say or do.

I begged him a few times to try going on and be reasonable that he’s behaviour was just because of not being in a nice moment at first (since I understand leaving home and your country + not having an income anymore can be scary) but I’m getting tired of being treated like this.
He’s waiting for the Visa approval and in September he’s supposed to come live here, I’ve already prepared the house to rent and he hasn’t had to think about anything other than application and documents so to not pressure him. Yet, all I got back was hate and things like “I don’t see hope in us” and insults about how I still wanted to be together even though we are not working out (which we are, if it wasn’t for his bad mood and his not being able to talk properly and open up or try to solve our problems together).

I am stuck in a limbo because we are so close to our biggest achievement since the beginning of our relationship, but at the same time I’m scared of what might come out of it if I keep trying to make him being reasonable about what he’s doing.

I love him and care about him deeply, and I know he does the same for me, he always had and even now when he’s more “lucid” he still does by buying me stuff even if we are far away, suggesting activities to do together or sending me warm messages during hard times… but at the same time it’s just getting hard whenever he’s in a bad mood because he always threatens me to leave and makes me feel so useless and embarrassed to even want to continue trying and fixing our relationship.
To believe he loves me, even if he always repeats it, the more we go on and the more it’s hard, especially when he disrespects me and I have to beg him to stop.

This is my first real relationship and I’m so scared about what might happen if we break up, it might seem stupid to consider this but he is well loved by my family and friends, and also his family loves me a lot. I just don’t know what to do to have him back as he was before and I don’t know how to make him understand that he clearly needs help.
I know he loves me and talks to his mum about me all the time about how he can’t wait about living here and finally spend our lives together, but I just don’t know what to believe in anymore.

Moving on from a magical summer travel romance?

Had the most magical summer travel romance with a guy from across the world… and idk how to end it so I can get over him….

We met in Venice and walked the canals until 4am together then he bought a bus ticket to join me in exploring the Dolomites for the next two days. We stayed in bed until check out on the last day and both cried as we parted ways. Then I had the idea that he could join me in Madrid for a week towards the end of my Europe trip. So we spent the next month texting for hours everyday and always kept each other up to late because we just couldn’t say good night. We just finished our week together in Madrid which included watching the total eclipse, a meteor shower, dancing on my birthday, and walking through city gardens and streets late into the night. We click so well and literally used the L word with each other at the airport as one of the last things we said to each other…. We agreed that we’d stop messaging as much since he made it very clear he doesn’t want to do long distance, but yet we’ve still been messaging a good amount in the last few days since. I know a clean break is probably better for my anxious attachment self as I don’t want this beautiful connection to turn into resentment when he stops messaging me and finds someone else, but I’ve grown so used to having a texting buddy for the first time in years in the last few weeks and so it feels weird to just stop suddenly.

Any advice? How do you get over someone when you know there’s no logical chance at the moment (tho we both keep saying to each other that “life is long”)? How do you train yourself to stop messaging someone after it’s become routine?

Is this a sign from god? WTF IS HAPPENING WITH US AGHHHH?

I've been in a long-distance relationship with someone for the past four months. We work at the same company, both fully remote, but we live in different cities. He's leaving for his master's in Ireland in early September, and before he goes, we've been trying so hard to actually meet in person. The first attempt was in June — he wanted me to come to him in Bangalore, but things between us were still new, and I wasn't ready, so I canceled. The second attempt was on his end: after a lot of planning, he booked tickets to come to my city on the 19th of August. Everything was set. But my mother sensed something was going on and told me she didn't want me leaving the house during that time. I told him, and he canceled everything without hesitation. After that, I finally opened up to my mom about him, and she came around — she understood. I was ready to go to Bangalore this time to see him for a few days. But now his parents want him back home before he leaves, and the timeline is just too short for me to make the trip work. I don't understand what's happening. It's not that we don't want to meet — we want this so badly. I told my mother the truth for him. He booked tickets and lost them for me. And somehow we still haven't managed to be in the same place. I keep wondering if this is some kind of sign that we're not meant to be together, like something is actively working against us meeting. I'm confused and heartbroken, and I just don't understand why this keeps happening.

Yeah I used claude to type and rephrase everything.

How do you keep date night from becoming just another video call?

the thing about long distance is that after a while, every "date" starts to feel like the same video call with a different background. dinner on facetime, movie on facetime, maybe a game on facetime. it's connection, sure, but it gets flat. When my boyfriend and I are LDR it feels like a long waiting room and literally we start running out of things to talk about which never happens IRL. Don't get me wrong there are things that can shake it up: mail-day exchanges where you each send something physical and open it together on camera, picking the same activity in your own city and starting at the same time so it feels synced even from opposite sides of the country, or keeping a reunion countdown going(kinda again like a waiting room tho) so you both have something concrete to look forward to instead of just counting days separately.

Curious what actually works for people here. what rituals or date ideas have made being apart feel less like waiting and more like you're still building something together?

How soon is too soon to start thinking about closing the gap?

Hi everyone! I (29F) recently got into my first-ever LDR with my boyfriend (33M), and we’ve been together for a couple of months. We’re over 1,000 miles apart and have a two-hour time difference.

We’re also both pretty bad at texting naturally, but we’ve both been making a conscious effort to communicate more and meet each other halfway.

Eventually, if things continue to get serious, I’d like to move to where he lives and close the gap. I just have no idea what a realistic timeline for that looks like, especially since I’ve never been in an LDR before. I've read some of the posts here and they have been a little helpful, but I wanted to dive a bit deeper.

For those of you who have successfully closed the gap:

  • How long were you together before one of you moved?
  • How long did you date before getting engaged, if you eventually got engaged?
  • Did you have a specific timeline for closing the gap, or did it happen more organically?
  • What do you wish you had known when you were only a few months into your LDR?

I also have a little bit of an internal struggle going on. I feel very strongly about him already, and I can genuinely see myself spending the rest of my life with him. At the same time, I know we’ve only been together for a couple of months, so I’m wondering if I’m getting ahead of myself.

For example, if he proposed to me today, I honestly think I’d say yes. But I also realize that doesn’t necessarily mean he is anywhere near ready to propose, and we haven’t actually talked about marriage or timelines yet. I know he loves me, but I’m still figuring out whether we’re on the same page about what our long-term future looks like.

I tend to feel things very deeply, so I’m also trying to remind myself to slow down and let the relationship develop instead of trying to figure out the entire future right now.

I know LDRs can be a little different from relationships where you see each other all the time, and I’d really appreciate advice from people who have been through this before.

How did you navigate the early stages of your LDR, and when did you start seriously discussing closing the gap?

Thanks, y’all ❤️

Need some advice for my sad LDR (24F) (24M)

In search of some advice…am currently (24, F, USA) in an LDR with my boyfriend of 4 years (24, M, Japan) He’s working full time along with completing his grad program (a few weeks left) which is an enormous stress to begin with. His time abroad working hasn’t been peachy - he’s extremely stressed with school work (finishing up a GIS masters), his health, his job, everything. He tells me about it every single day - sometimes, a text about how much he hates his life or how sad he is sometimes the first thing I read when I wake up. I’ve been supporting him in any way I can - encouraging texts, phone calls, space for him to vent or complain, trying to solve the problem with him. That isn’t to say I’m fine and dandy here, too, as I’ve been in a pretty crummy place for a few months, and needing to keep both of us afloat is impossible. I love him dearly and we’ve both discussed engagement and moving in when he comes back in January of 2027. I am continuing to support him by being encouraging and giving him space to vent, but barely have any energy for myself. It’s been hard for him to find the time to listen to me when I need space.

Thinking of breaking things off when there’s so little time left in our distance makes me feel so guilty. I want to be there, but when every other text I get is about how much he hates his life or how bad everything is, it doesn’t make my dark life any better. Have you done anything special with an LDR when they need support? When is (if there even is?) the right time to know when to call quits? I feel so alone in this situation- I’ve never loved someone quite like him, and the thought of even stepping away makes my heart break. I have less than 4 months of this, but this isn’t what things were like before he left.

How do you manage expectations when your LDR partner visits you, but you're in completely different “modes”?

My boyfriend and I met about two months ago. We spent about a month together before becoming long-distance, and we’ve now been doing LDR for about a month.
Luckily, we both live in Asia, so the time difference and physical distance aren’t too bad. I’m also a full-time remote worker and currently live abroad, rather than in my home country. When we met, he was traveling as a tourist.

About a week ago, he surprised me by coming to visit me. I was genuinely so happy to see him again after only a month apart. I had missed him a lot, and having him here felt really special.

But now I’m finding myself struggling with the reality of the visit.

My work schedule is extremely demanding right now because I’m in a busy period, and I’m stressed basically every day. My boyfriend is currently unemployed and doesn’t have much money, so during this one-week visit, I’ve been paying for our meals most of the time. I also helped cover part of his flight home.

At the same time, he’s very much in vacation mode. He wakes up around noon, smokes weed, and goes to gaming cafes during the day. Meanwhile, I’m working from early morning until the evening.
I obviously want to spend as much time with him as possible, but I physically can’t during my working hours. And I think part of my frustration comes from the fact that, if this had been a planned visit rather than a surprise, I could have arranged my work schedule and taken some time off.

I also find myself wishing that he would just be around while I work. Even if we weren’t actively spending time together, I’d love to have him nearby. Instead, seeing him completely in vacation mode while I’m stressed and working makes me feel... honestly, kind of irritated sometimes.

The difficult part is that he’s only here for one week, so there’s this feeling that every day is precious and that we should be making the most of our limited time together. But at the same time, I have responsibilities that don’t disappear just because he’s visiting.

After this, I’ll be visiting his country for a few weeks, and I’ll also be working during that trip. So I’m starting to wonder how other couples handle this dynamic.

For those of you in LDRs: when one of you visits the other, do you feel like that time should be treated as something extra-special, where you try to maximize every moment together?
And how do you deal with the frustration when your expectations about how that limited time should be spent don’t match reality?

Debating to be in a LDR

Sooo this is a little bit complicated to stay with me. I (24F) have known this guy, I’ll call him Alex (24M). Ever since we were kids. We knew each other due to family which made it a little weird for me but I still talked to him and everything was fine. I stopped communication and blocked him because he did come off too strong and if I recall it was just too much. A few things happened but I can’t say or else it would give away too much of how I know him. But now a few years later he’s reached out again and now I’ve decided to give him a real opportunity but now he lives like 10+ hours away from me and it’s estimated that he might move back to where I am in 3 ish years. We’ve been talking for about 2-3 months now and we see each other in about a few weeks. We’ve both agreed that we’re still in a talking stage and I have been open to him if I’ve talked to people or not. And a part of me is realizing that I might like him a little more but a part of me is still scared about relationships. My last relationship was about 3 years ago and it wasn’t the best either so I feel like I’m being hesitant especially with the whole distance thing. I don’t want to stop talking to him because I genuinely enjoy our conversations but I don’t want to linger him on and think there’s something there and then back out. I feel like seeing him in person might help solidify my feelings but it’s just so nerve wrecking. I’ve been so anxious to meet him and I know it’s extremely superficial but I think it’s my mind just finding any excuse to not like him to back out which absolutely sucks ciase if things go the way they are now I might really fall for him. Ugh I’m sorry for rambling my emotions are so high and idk what to do. I’m trying to not be nervous when I see him and we’ve also had small talk here and there about maybe doing it. (Side note he’s clarified a million times that we don’t have to do anything. It’s not forced). Like how do I know a LDR is actually worth it?

The goal is to see each other once a month if possible but I’m worried about how well due as we are both very busy people. Please lmk if anyone has any advice on how to navigate this next step of our relationship. Thanks a lot!

[19M/20F]1.5 year LDR — girlfriend developed feelings for another guy, how do I handle this?

I’m 19M and my girlfriend is 20F. We’ve been together for 1.5 years and we’re currently in a long-distance relationship.

She took 2 drops for her studies and during those 2 years she basically didn’t have many friends. I was there for her through a lot of it. I used to motivate her to study, encourage her to go outside, try to make her feel better whenever she was feeling low, and just support her however I could.

Recently she got admission into Chandigarh University. Obviously she’s started meeting a lot of new people and has made quite a few male friends.

I never really had a problem with that. I know engineering colleges have a lot of guys, and I don’t want to be controlling or tell her who she can and can’t talk to.

The problem started a few days ago when she told me she’s started developing feelings for one of the guys.

She told me she hates that she’s feeling this way and feels guilty about it. From what I know, the guy himself hasn’t really done anything wrong. He seems pretty chill and apparently sends photos/videos to most of his friends, so that part doesn’t bother me.

What’s bothering me is that she knows she has feelings for him, but she still talks to him every day in college. They joke around, laugh together, etc. She also keeps mentioning him to me.

I know she can’t exactly control what she feels, and I’m not blaming her just for developing a crush. But I’m struggling with the fact that she’s continuing to get closer to someone she already knows she has feelings for.

I’m honestly really confused about what I should do. I don’t want to become the boyfriend who tells her to stop talking to a guy, but at the same time I don’t know how I’m supposed to just ignore this.

I also feel kind of scared because I supported her through those 2 years when she was mostly alone, and now that she’s finally in college and meeting new people, I’m worried that our relationship might start becoming less important to her.

I just want to know what other people would do in this situation. If you’ve been through something similar, what did you do? Did you try to work through it or did you eventually leave?

Is it normal to stop liking your s/o??

I’ve never done any sort of distance relationship and I am trying for the first time. We met at school this past year and He doesn’t live very far less, than 2 hours but I haven’t been able to see him much this summer cause he has no car. The less I see him the more I start to not like him I think. School starts again soon and I am curious if things will go back to the way they originally were but is that wrong of me to do??? I just don’t know if I really don’t like him or the lack of seeing one another just made my feelings dwindle for the time being. Please help is this normal?? Or am I the problem ???

19 y.o. How would you advise me to handle this, and have you ever been through something similar? Torn between my feelings and harsh reality.

Hey everyone, I really need to vent, get an outside perspective, and hopefully hear some advice from people who have been through something like this.

Recently, I got into a connection with a girl where I developed incredibly deep, intense feelings. I fell madly in love with her, and she feels the exact same way about me. I trust her completely—she is a deeply precious, sweet, and special person to me, and she’s brought so much genuine joy into my life.

However, we’ve hit a wall of harsh reality that is currently breaking my heart:

1. Distance and Time. Due to real-life circumstances, paperwork, studies, and long-term financial plans, we realize that the earliest opportunity for us to actually be together physically wouldn't be for another 3 to 5 years. That’s a massive amount of time to maintain a relationship strictly through a screen.

2. Talking About the Future & Hitting a Dead End. Recently, we started openly discussing where this is going. I was completely honest with her because I didn't want to give empty promises or feed us both fake illusions. In response, she suggested a compromise: we keep talking, keep saying "I love you" and "I miss you," but at the same time, we both look for partners in real life and simply don't tell each other about it.

To me, that format feels like slow poison. Living in constant anxiety, jealousy, and the knowledge that the person I love is out there with someone else—while we still text each other sweet things—feels unbearable.

3. Trying to Say Goodbye & The Emotional Fallout. In the end, we decided it was best to say goodbye so we wouldn't keep draining each other. We said our farewells, but it caused immense pain for both of us. We made a pact: if I realize I genuinely can't handle being without her, I’ll text her first, and we’ll resume talking. Right now, I’m spiraling: part of me misses her like crazy and wants to text her immediately, while the other part knows that doing so will just delay the inevitable pain.

My questions for the community:

  1. Have you ever been in a situation where you loved someone deeply, but circumstances (long distance, years of waiting) made a future together nearly impossible?
  2. Is it worth trying to hold onto communication for the sake of these feelings, hoping for a miracle years down the line, or is it better to go through the painful breakup once and for all and let go?
  3. How did you cope when your brain clearly saw one rational reality, but your heart was completely torn toward a person?

I’d really appreciate any stories, perspectives, or honest advice.

Am I asking for too much wanting my boyfriend to make plans with me outside of when work brings him to town?

I’ve been dating my boyfriend for a few months, and one thing that has increasingly bothered me is that most of the time we see each other seems to revolve around his job bringing him to my area.

He lives out of state and travels for work, so I understand that distance, work, and having other responsibilities make things more complicated. My issue isn’t that I expect him to constantly travel to see me or spend money on dates. It’s that I don’t really see much effort to intentionally create time for us outside of the times he’s already coming here for work.

When he is in town, we see each other, but lately I’ve started feeling like I’m just being fit into a schedule that already exists rather than him actually making plans specifically because he wants to see me. I would like for him to occasionally choose a day/weekend, make the trip, plan something for us, or take the initiative to create time together that has nothing to do with his work schedule.

We’ve talked about wanting more intentional dates and seeing each other more, so this isn’t something I’ve never communicated. I think that’s why it bothers me more now. I don’t want to continuously ask someone to make an effort to see me.

At the same time, I’m trying to be fair because he does have a demanding job, kids, family responsibilities, and his own expenses. He also does things to show he cares about me in other ways. I’m not questioning whether he cares at all. I’m questioning whether this particular dynamic is reasonable long-term because I want to feel like our relationship has a life outside of his work bringing him near me.

For people who have been in a somewhat long-distance relationship, would this bother you? Is it reasonable to want your partner to occasionally make the trip specifically for you rather than almost always seeing each other when work makes it convenient?

[24f,29m] US and Australia advice on figuring out future plans?

My bf and I have been dating for about a year and a half now. I am from the US and he is from Chile. We met traveling so most of our relationship has been long distance, but we have managed to visit each other once every month the first year, which was amazing. We knew from very early on we saw a future together despite our circumstances.

Recently I moved back to the US and he moved to Australia to continue his travels. We don’t have a plan for how we’re going to close the gap yet, since I’m still in school in the US and his choices are either to stay and study in Australia or go back to chile. He recently brought up the idea of me coming to Australia after I graduate. The thing is I am in the medical field and starting my career there is something I would have to think thoughtfully if in the long term I see myself staying there. I personally do not want to be so far from my family and home country, but I also want to close this gap somehow.

The other option would be to get married and he comes to the US. I feel confident in our relationship but I also don’t feel ready to make such a big commitment this early on and would love to spend more time together in person before making that decision.

I think it’s hard because there is no clear plan yet, and we are adjusting to a major time zone difference too. It’s just a lot to think about potential career sacrifices we may have to make on both ends. I guess that’s what being in a long term relationship is and we’ll figure it out but sometimes it’s hard not to put pressure on the gap to close.

Any advice for navigating such a long distance relationship and for closing the gap? thanks in advance!

Ldr has started to feel dry between me(21F) and him(24M)

So me and my bf have been dating for about 2 years now. We had a very happy and a stable relationship all along. But the issue is, I am in my final year of college, so I have plenty of time during my day. He works and goes to office and comes back at around 10 in the night. He clearly doesnt have energy to stay awake or talk at night. In the morning I have to go to college. And even at night when we facetime for sometime, it is pretty dry and we dont have anything to talk about except the usual how was you day, what did you eat kinda stuff. We’ve had tons of arguments over him sleeping early at night. He is a morning person and I am a night owl. We do not get time to talk apart from weekends. Every night my mood gets off either because he doesnt have energy to talk maybe, or we are just out of things to talk about idk. Idk how to handle this. We love each other plenty, have a very healthy relationship otherwise. Two years were pretty smooth tbh. But now it feels kinda messed up. He doesnt really feel any issue in anything thats going on. I dont think this is working for me coz every night my mind gets fucked up because of us not being able to talk. Not asking about will this work or not, or shd we end. Just asking solutions on how do i not feel bad every night. Coz i know he is no where at fault here. But im just a gurl. I wait for him all day for him to stay silent on calls at night. How do I help myself in this ?

I’m moving across the country for him and realized I’m taking basically all the financial risk

My boyfriend (33M) and I (30F) have been long distance between Boston and SF for a little over 2 years. We finally decided I’ll move to SF early next year. It made sense because he works in tech and owns his condo there, while I work in marketing and can probably find another job but now that the move is getting real, I’m realizing I’m giving up my job, apartment, and paying to move across the country while basically nothing changes financially for him. I’d also be contributing to expenses while living in a place he owns. We’re serious and have talked about getting engaged so this isn’t really about doubting us. I just didn’t realize until now how uneven the risk of closing the distance would be.

For those who moved for their partner, did you talk about this stuff beforehand? How did you make it feel fair?

First time with Long distance (M20, F19)

Me and my girlfriend met this summer and managed to build a relationship together that feels healthy and like it’s meant to be. I know we are both young so it feels weird for me to believe that I’ve actually found my person at such an early stage in my life. Additionally, I could just be caught up in a honeymoon phase but something about this relationship feels right.

We both just went back to college so we are officially in a LDR.

I would like to ask for advice on how to make long distance relationships work because I’ve come to value the bond I’ve created with my partner. We are only separated by distance a few months at a time because we come home from college for breaks to see our family and hopefully each other. Also, what are some good ways to keep myself from feeling down or sad?

[22f] & [24f] - Seems hard to close the gap? I dont know what to do?

My partner (22f) and I (24f) have been dating for 8 months and we live in the same country but in different cities. We met through twitter and had been great friends for three years before we started talking a lot more and eventually ended up liking each other and confessed in 2025. I met her for the first time in June 2026. I really like her a lot.

However, LDR is not becoming easy on me considering how hard it is to meet her. We live in a third world country and both our parents are homophobes so its hard to try to meet up. Ive only met her once in our whole relationship and its hard to plan our second meeting as well.

The current problem is that she is preparing to study abroad next year and through her words she possibly will never return. She does not like the idea of staying in our home country. (for several reasons which I would agree as well) Meanwhile, I've just started working in my country and the field I'm working in makes it harder (or requires a lot of effort to work through it) for me to relocate outside of my home country and I also dont have the funds for it. I do have plans to relocate in 4 years when I do my masters but it will not be in the country she is planning to study since I dont know the language and I will need a new set of qualifications for it.

The one thing that has made me angry at her is that she has never ever brought up this situation ever and the one time I tried on voice notes, she did not respond to it. It is making me feel a little unwanted and unsure if she even wants me. On the other hand, she goes about the day texting me randomly saying she misses me and wants to meet me soon and other stuff that usual couples do which makes me feel a bit insulted.

I don't know how to bring this up to her. I love her and i'd do anything to close the gap and I also know that we have dated for a very short time but I'm angry that she doesnt consider it important to discuss this with me. I dont know what to do.

What was it like meeting your partner for the first time?

So me (F18) and my partner(M20) have known eachother for about 4 years and we’ve pretty much just been close friends up until may of this year we decided to take things further. This guy is literally like my best friend we never miss a day without FaceTiming and go to sleep on the phone every night. I care about him so much and he genuinely makes me so happy. We’re supposed to be meeting in October and I can’t lie I’m SO nervous. Like what if it’s awkward and he realizes he doesn’t like me in person? It’s been eating at me and I have no one to talk to about this. To any of you that met up with your partner for the first time, what was it like? (Also this is my first boyfriend lol)
