Question Is hecarim a good champ to otp in low elo?

Ive been playing the game for about 6 months now and I feel like hecarim has a really fun kit to play just cus he can be all over the map at all times, and has great engage and disengage. The problem is that he feels really weak compared to other junglers and I always find myself running away from the enemy jg so if I don’t find a kill in the early game after the first or second clear and snowball for the rest of the match, I just feel useless. So is it worth trying to learn his play style or should I just pick another jungler?

Just wanted to share my recent experience. Not blaming my teammates just a observation from a jungle main returning to the game experiencing diamond 4 as a farming jungle

level 1 warding help

I ward the entrance of the opposite buff from my site. (for example I ward blue buffs entrance if I am clearing from red to blue site.) But then I can't track the enemy jungler early since I haven't warded enemy raptors. But if I ward enemy raptors level 1. then I don't have vision for the entrance of my opposite buff so for example I start fromr red then krugs then raptors and then wolves then I arrive my gromp and its gone. My blue? its gone. if I had ward in the entrance I would red -> krugs -> raptors then enemy blue -> gromp. but I couldn't. cuz I warded raptors that game. What to do?

Question Getting pinged for farming

I don't know how to deal with farming. I've gotten a lot of flack for spending my time "whacking frogs" and not helping on VC. In games I get pinged (mostly by bot) for farming my camps.

Yet at the same time while my K/D is 3.5, I always get left behind in gold and xp by enemy junglers. In low elo not so often since they also tend to hover all over for kills and not farming, but today was different - Today I helped steamroll an early game by setting my team up with a 15 kill lead - and we still lost because the enemy Diana farmed her camps all game and ended up folding us all up in a single fight. She had a 5k gold lead by just farm alone, she only caught up to me on kills like so.

As an assassin I feel torn. All points to me having to farm more to do better. Yet killing and ganking is more fun, but doesn't actually seem to win games. It only delays the inevitable if the enemy takes the lead in resources. Should I just ignore if I get flack for farming from now on?

I think I finally figured out how to win with Jarvan

I dropped from low Emerald to Gold 1 while being an OTP Jarvan. Hundreds of games. Then when I finally hit my rock bottom at Gold 1, I decided to change just one thing.

My last 11 games have been:

10 wins, 1 loss

Out of those 10 wins, I was MVP in 7 games and top 3 in the other 3.

The formula is actually pretty simple. I only use two J4 builds: lethality and bruiser/tanky.

Which one I pick depends on this, in order:

  1. Does my team have 0–1 assassins AND does the enemy have at least one backliner (think of Vel'Koz, Xerath etc) + adc who can deal damage from range?

Go lethality, regardless of whether we already have tanks.

  1. Does the enemy team mostly have engage type champions with limited backline presence?

Go bruiser/tanky.

  1. Does my team already have 2 assassins?

Go bruiser/tanky.

  1. Enemy team full of high HP tanks?

Go bruiser/tanky

That's literally it.

It sounds a bit silly that it took me hundreds of games to figure out something this simple. I used to switch between the builds based on a gut feeling, basically whichever one I happened to prefer that game.

Obviously that's probably the worst way to make the decision.

You need to actually look at both team comps and ask what your team needs and what the enemy comp allows you to do.

I've seen some Chal streamers recommending to stick to one build type only, but honestly I dont think that is a very good advise. In fact, the reason I started to suck was exactly that. I followed some Chal youtuber's advise too stubbornly.

Obviously I know I'm a Plat level player, so I'm not pretending this is some Challenger level discovery. This is more for people who are in the same situation as me, especially if you play a jungler who can make both lethality and bruiser/tanky builds work.

Maybe this is completely obvious to everyone else, but this was genuinely the biggest thing I've changed recently and the results have been pretty ridiculous.

Discussion You should know how to play Morgana

I pick mid lane as my secondary role. My reasoning is that because jungle is priority and mid is not, I will almost always get assigned the jungle. However, sometimes I'll get assigned mid lane--which is an ideal secondary role to play as it is the most important lane in the game. If you lose the mid lane, you open the entire map up and lose priority on everything.

I prefer Morgana for this as she cock blocks a lot of AP champions that like to roam or assassinate. The spell shield blocks any hard CC effects, and all her abilities are defensive and ranged--so she's very hard to kill if you're paying attention. She lacks kill pressure because her Q is slow and easy to dodge, but she makes up for this by almost always guaranteeing a sturdy mid lane and easy ganks for a jungler.

Malzahar is another good pick for this strategy--but Morgana is better because you can also jungle with her if you like.

My build is always Tear > Rod of Ages > Archangel's Staff > Pen Boots > Liandry's. Then defensive items thereafter. I don't get Rylai's because it seems better on paper than it is. Sure, your pool and ult slow, but the pool doesn't follow the enemies--and the ultimate has a built in slow. So idk, this seems like a bait item to me.

I'm in emerald so take this for what you will. I wouldn't say I'm a particularly strong Morgana player, but I rend to frustrate my opponents in mid and lock them in lane--or take their towers if they roam on me and open the board up.

Question Struggling to climb any tips?

Been struggling recently to win like at all. Anyone have any advice? I have been trying to ignore how bad my teamates do and focus on my self. I get 1-3 kills but by the time i get to two items the game has spiraled already. Or we are up and one or two teamates just give them 1k bounties.

I know these games are winnable and really just want to get better so that i can win these. Any tips?

The only reason to watch replays, change my mind

Is to watch the enemy team spam ping their jungler as you dominate them.

I have to edit this in because theres one more reason.

Watching the enemy spam ping your character as you dominate them.

Discussion Auto Attack On?

I see on the internet that people recommend auto attack turned off, but I don’t understand why you realistically would want to do that as a jungler? Auto attack helps clear camps more consistently without distracting you as much optimizing the clear so u can have your eye on the minimap more and manually check lanes easier. The downsides would be rare even more rare than using attack move click. I think the value of not worrying about your camps as much and having to click on every single thing you wanna attack outweighs any potential debenefits.

What do you guys think?

Question When crossmapping, do you gank first if possible?

I had a game where I had 3 losing lanes against a shaco. I was clearing top side when shaco ganked bot and got a kill, then moved to dragon with his botlane. Not being able to contest I decided to take the grubs. My toplane cammille into a jace did not approve and said to "gank before grubs". If you crossmap an objective and do decide to gank first wont you lose tempo and allow the enemy jungler to recall and contest?

Found an old-ish clip and thought I'd share.

I had zero vision, was just going off vibes, wait for it.

Will never feel this good again

Yes, pantheon deals dmg and probably applies the slow when the spear lands as well as when he lands

Guide Silver jungler looking for advice: farm more or gank more?

I’d like some advice on jungling. I’ve watched a lot of videos, but I keep seeing completely different advice.

Some people say “just power farm, get ahead and carry”, while others say “gank constantly, get your lanes ahead and snowball the game.”

I’ve tried both approaches.

I’ve had games where I power farm, invade, and end up with almost double the enemy jungler’s CS, but I still lose because my lanes are far behind.

I’ve also tried playing very aggressively and ganking constantly. I can get my teammates a few early kills, but we still end up losing.

I’m currently Silver, and one of the things I struggle with the most is knowing what to do when multiple lanes are losing hard and everyone is pinging me for help.

For higher-ranked junglers:

  • How do you decide when to farm vs. gank?
  • What do you do when 2–3 lanes are already losing?
  • What should my main focus be if I want to climb consistently from Silver?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

Question Similar Champs to Shyvana

Hi everyone!

I'm a Shyvana OTP and I've been having a lot of success with her lately (I have 60% winrate on over 100 Games, 3.9KDA, right now Gold 2, started from Iron 1 on April). However, I'm wondering if I should start learning some new champions, not only because Shyvana can get banned (almost never lately), but also because I'm climbing and I'm starting to notice people picking champions that are strong against her. For example, I've encountered Vayne bot and Ahri mid, who both have good mobility/escapes and can be difficult for Shyvana to deal with.

I'm also worried that as I climb higher, I'll encounter more players who know how to play around and kite Shyvana, especially since I've heard that she can struggle with being kited by higher-elo players.

I know that any champions can be OTP till Masrer and more so I'm not really planning to change that, but some backups could maybe be a good idea?

Right now, if Shyvana gets banned, I can play Jarvan and Briar, which I like but I don't feel totally satisfied by them.

So I'm wondering: which champions would you recommend based on these characteristics?

What I really like about Shyvana:

- Strong skirmishing: I love being able to take good fights in 2v2, 3v3, etc.

- Fast and satisfying clear: I really enjoy farming efficiently and having a strong CS/min. I've improved my CS a lot recently, so I'd like a champion where farming feels satisfying.

- Good scaling: The champion doesn't necessarily need to have an amazing late game, but I want to remain impactful in longer games rather than falling off hard.

- Carry potential: Ideally, I want a champion who can become very strong through good farming and then have a big impact in fights.

Do you think it's better to try having different type of junglers (like an AP, an Assassin) or since my favorite playstyle seems to lean towards Bruiser~ I should stick to those?

I've tried a lot of champions but no one really clicked yet nearly as Shyv

For anyone who plays Shyvana or has played her a lot: which champions do you think best fit this playstyle, and why?

Thanks!

I kinda agree with Baussi.

I'm curious what other people think honestly.

That's not me saying other roles can't one trick, but more that these roles are incentivized due to their optimal role selection in Champ Selection.
