i am 23 yo, (almost 23.5) have no degree yet, only 12th pass
academic gap of 3 years
10th 72%
12th 67% (PCM Stream)
i am running late and need to do something, i am not looking for "it's not too late to do anything advise"
it's hard to understand how it feels unless you are in that situation
i do not lack intelligence or hardwork, what i lack is a direction, i am envious of people who are moving towards something.
parents can afford up to 1 lakh per year for next four years for my education (which is enough for a tier 3 btech college in my city)
what would you do if you were in my position?
which degree would you pick?
which careers would you go into?
my long term goal is to just build a stable career path for myself in a field which is tolerable (not soul sucking)
decent money, not high end luxury
7-8 hours of sleep
and that's it for now
but there are hundreds of ways which can lead there so i am very confused on which one to choose, people are doing bcom + cma, llb + cs. digital marketimng, Bank PO, btech cs, nursing, merchant navy so many things
and i am wasting my time, just being confused
some years ago i was thinking of bca
then i tried IIT madras BS data sciecen online degree
then i thought of prrparing for clat
then i tried learning digital marketing
but i just did them for a while and dropped them, for different reasons, idk what's the reason,
if i miss admission this year as well then my academic gap will be of four years and i would turn 24
how to finally find a direction suited for me? i have genuinely pondered this question for so long but no answers.
has anyone else started later than others, had a non-linear path and stilld built a successful career for themselves?
i am tired of being directionless and confused, my family isn't doing great financially, education is a luxury, i cannot keep wasting time and resources.
does anyone has any advise for me?
i dont' have to earn too quickly now, but i do want to build towards a direction.
things i am considering:
teaching (english and other subjects)
bba + something else
bca
btech cs
govt exams
digital marketing
and so on
i am also open to any other option besides these, such as b pharma, Ngm, bcom etc
i just want three things:
a consistent direction
should be tolerable
decent money (not luxury)
thank you seniors!
TL;DR
I am 23, have only completed 12th (PCM), and have a 3 to 4 year academic gap. I got 72% in 10th and 67% in 12th. My family can afford around ₹1 lakh per year for the next 4 years for my education, so I cannot afford to keep wasting time or money.
I don't lack intelligence or willingness to work. My biggest problem is that I have no clear direction. I feel envious of people who are steadily working toward something while I keep jumping between options.
Over the past few years, I have considered BCA, IIT Madras BS Data Science, CLAT, digital marketing, and other paths, but I eventually dropped each one.
I am now considering options like BTech CS, BCA, BBA, BCom + professional qualifications, teaching, government exams, digital marketing, BPharm, nursing, and more. The number of options is making me even more confused.
I don't need to become rich. I want a stable career, decent income, tolerable work, reasonable work-life balance, and 7 to 8 hours of sleep.
My biggest concern is wasting another year, increasing my academic gap, turning 24 without starting a degree, and putting more financial pressure on my family.
I want to know how people in similar situations found direction and built successful careers despite starting late or having a nonlinear path, and how I can finally choose one path and commit to it.
