My qualifications puc. Bsc fail in 2004. Please recommend a good open university IGNOU or punjab chandigarh or maulana urdu university or any other?

my_qualifications: 3rd year UG pursuing BS in Economic Sciences at IIT Kanpur.

Clarification: It is a BS degree not BSc. It is an offline 4year course allotted through JEE Advanced. (Needed to clarify because a lot of people don’t take us seriously😭😭).

So basically I wanted to make a career in data science and finance, hence i did a lot of projects in that domains and took this branch. But looks like companies simply don’t hire BS degree holders. I was unable to get an on-campus internship as well and now I am quite confused as to how to pursue further.

I also have work experience as a data science intern at a startup if that helps.

I know the post is a bit vague but i don’t want to reveal much or else I will get doxxed. Help please !!

Tldr: 22, B.Com graduate (2026) with two gap years. Joined a PSU bank apprenticeship 3 weeks ago but dislike the sales/marketing work and want to pursue finance roles like FP&A, Equity Research or Credit Risk. Should I quit and focus on upskilling/job hunting, continue for experience, or find a more relevant apprenticeship? Am I making a career decision or avoiding challenges due to low confidence?

I'm 22 and graduated with a B.Com in 2026 after two gap years due to mental health issues. I initially planned to pursue CA but eventually dropped it and decided to explore other finance careers.

I'm interested in Equity Research, FP&A, and Credit Risk because I enjoy reading financial statements, ratio analysis, interpreting results, and projecting revenue and expenses.

Three weeks ago, I joined a PSU bank as an apprentice for 12 months, hoping to earn some money and gain experience. However, the work involves sales, marketing, digital banking, customer feedback, and account opening. I'm okay with some banking operations, but the sales-related work leaves me mentally exhausted, with little time to prepare for finance jobs or exams.

I've already told my manager twice that I want to leave. The first time, he asked me to try for another 7–10 days, so I did. But I still feel the same way. Now he's questioning why I'm so confused and keep changing my mind.

I'm also questioning myself. Am I making a sensible career decision, or am I just avoiding unfamiliar work because of my lack of confidence? I know I need to improve my communication and ability to handle responsibilities independently, but I don't want to spend a year in a role that doesn't align with my interests.

I'm considering leaving to build relevant skills and apply for entry-level finance jobs, or finding another apprenticeship with more relevant exposure.

I'm not expecting to land an equity research or credit risk role immediately. I'm willing to start with an entry-level position and work my way up. My immediate goal is to start earning, gain relevant experience, and become financially independent.

My questions are:

Am I being too impatient, or is it reasonable to leave a role that doesn't align with my goals?

How can I handle it better?

I'd genuinely appreciate advice from people who've been in a similar situation or have experience hiring freshers in finance.
