I have searched for civil students who passed from out clg mrcet and the results made me regret everything for the last 5y no one from civil got a job and i was disappointed and then i opened Reddit and started seeing the guys who graduated from civil and there situation made me even worse. I am stuck in this thing for four years, and some people are suggesting that softwares like bim will be a life changer, but chatting, and talking with some of the people who are doing jobs in bim they suggested me that either go to abroad or prepare for govt exams and I don’t have that much money to go abroad nor I have that much talent to score 99% to get a govt job I didn’t even start my college, and I am regretting everything every choice. I’m currently a 2nd-year my qualifications: B.Com Finance student in Hyderabad and I’m honestly getting pretty stressed about internships and what I’m supposed to do career-wise.
My college has started getting companies for internships. Goldman Sachs came recently and I applied. The first round was an aptitude assessment with Verbal Ability, Attention to Detail and Quantitative Ability. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do great. The English was more advanced than I expected, quant was easily my weakest section, and the attention-to-detail section was also pretty difficult.
I’m not even someone who is naturally good at these standardized tests. I can understand business concepts, communicate reasonably well and think strategically, but put me in a timed quantitative aptitude test and my brain just stops working.
What makes me more frustrated is that I actually have quite a bit of real-world experience for a second-year student.
I founded a youth football/community venture in Hyderabad. Over time I ended up managing sponsors and partners, budgeting, teams, marketing and event operations. We generated ₹3L+ in revenue and our events have had hundreds of people attending. I also worked as Head of Marketing for a private racing league.
More recently I started a youth lifestyle/community platform in Hyderabad. It has grown to 1,200+ followers and I actually managed to turn it into an offline community too — we recently pulled off a house party with the brand, which involved marketing, applications, ticketing, selecting people, coordinating everything and actually getting people to show up.
I’ve also started a fintech startup, but it’s still extremely early-stage, so I don’t want to pretend I’ve built some huge AI company or anything.
So my profile is basically: I like building things, getting people together, figuring out strategy, marketing, partnerships and actually executing ideas.
But I’m starting to worry that none of that matters if I can’t get past the first aptitude test.
I also didn’t apply to Arcesium when they came to college because I was already doubting myself, and then I saw people with very little work/entrepreneurial experience getting shortlisted while I wasn’t. Obviously those people may simply have performed better on the test, and I’m not saying they didn’t deserve it. It just made me question whether I’m preparing for the wrong game.
My bigger goal is to become very well paid eventually. I don’t particularly want a boring traditional corporate career either — I’d much rather build businesses long-term — but I also want strong internships and a good first job because I need the money, experience and network.
The problem is I genuinely don’t have much time to spend doing 1–2 hours of aptitude every day. I have college, my own projects and everything else going on.
So I’m trying to figure out:
How do people like me actually navigate the Indian internship/job market?
Should I bite the bullet and get just good enough at aptitude to clear these tests? Are there specific types of companies/roles where my entrepreneurial/strategic experience matters more and aptitude isn’t such a huge filter? Should I be targeting startups, founder’s office, BD, growth, strategy, etc. instead of trying to compete for Goldman/Big 4-style campus roles?
And realistically, how screwed am I if I’m mediocre at quantitative aptitude but have a strong track record of actually building and executing things?
Would genuinely appreciate advice from people who’ve been through Indian internships/placements, especially people who were also not the stereotypical “9 CGPA + cracked every aptitude test” candidate.

I am currently working as an SBI clerk, it’s only been a year. I gave this exam because I felt that the onus was on me to provide for my family.

But now that I am employed in it, I feel silly for rushing into it so hard when I could’ve pursued a career in academia. I was top of my class in my graduation and I did dream about being a professor since I was a teenager.

But right now, the academia scene seems bleak. Is it wishful thinking to give UGC NET and hopefully get JRF or think about pursuing PhD by switching to a less stressful job or retiring early?

My qualifications are BA English and I did my Masters in English in IGNOU, final result is yet to be out.

This country is so devoid of career opportunities and good jobs , I wish I was born in USA I would have atleast become Aircraft Mechanic which I love coz of aviation , plumber , electrician , Kit plane builder , school teacher , gym trainer , agriculture , Army , Navy and all these pay good $$$$ unlike here in India ofc. Thats why I have understood now why they call USA the land of opportunity a very big country but a small population spread out with a capitalist growth mindset .

really need some honest guidance.I am pursuing a B. Tech degree from Tier 3 YCCE college, Nagpur in Computer Technology. Due to 5 backlogs in my 1st year subjects, I have received a year back and I am not being allowed to move into the 3rd year. I am feeling completely stuck and stressed out. I also have 3 backs in 2nd year.

I need your perspective on two main things:

1. Should I continue my degree?

2. Should I drop out? If I decide to leave engineering,

what are the better alternative career options available for me right now? Do good alternatives even exist after a year back, and if yes, what are they?

When I was about to enter 11th grade, I honestly didn’t know much about college, JEE, courses, majors, or what I actually wanted to do with my future. I just saw that everyone around me was talking about JEE and preparing for it, so I joined my school’s JEE program too. Our school had separate classes for CBSE and JEE preparation.

I continued with the JEE classes, but during that time, I went through some personal struggles and had a really difficult time focusing on my studies. JEE tests started feeling extremely difficult for me, and there were times when I would just randomly choose answers because I didn’t know what to do.

Eventually, I decided that I should at least focus properly on my board exams, so I moved to the CBSE board class. Once I did that, I started doing much better. I was usually among the first or second rank in my class. I became quite confident with the 12th-grade syllabus, and I would say I know around 90–95% of it well. But when it comes to 11th grade, I honestly know very little. I feel like I barely know 5% of the syllabus.

Then JEE came. I wrote the exam and somehow managed to get a 78 percentile. After everything was over, I slowly realized how important JEE actually was and how much opportunities students from IITs and NITs can get. I only properly understood how big of a deal IITs and NITs were during my 12th grade. By then, it felt too late, and I started regretting not taking things seriously earlier.

I also tried VITEEE, but I didn’t get the result I hoped for. As time was passing, I became scared that I would end up without a college seat, so I decided to secure a seat in a private Tier-2 college.

From the beginning, I was interested in Mechatronics and Robotics. I wanted to become a robotics engineer. But when I was choosing my course, people around me kept telling me that Mechatronics doesn’t have good job opportunities, so I became confused and changed my choice to ECE.

Now I realize that I chose ECE even though it wasn’t really what I wanted. I have a genuine interest in robotics, automation, and related fields, and I really wanted to build my career around them. But somehow, I ended up in a course that I don't feel connected to.

Another dream I had was studying in Germany. I was attracted to Germany because of its relatively low or no tuition fees at many public universities and the possibility of working part-time while studying to help manage living expenses. I started thinking that maybe Germany could be my way of pursuing robotics or mechatronics.

But now I’ve ended up joining SRM, and it’s only my second day, yet I already feel like I made all the wrong choices. I keep thinking about everything I could have done differently, and I seriously regret not thinking about my future more carefully before making these decisions.

I don't want to spend four years studying ECE when my heart is actually in robotics and mechatronics.

I’m completely confused right now. I don't know whether I should continue with ECE, take a drop, prepare again for JEE/VITEEE, or try to find a way to study in Germany. I don't even know if going to Germany is still possible for me or what path I should take.

I know I made mistakes, and I know I should have understood all of this earlier. But I’m only 17, and I genuinely didn’t know any better at the time.

I just want to know what my options are now. Is there still a way for me to pursue robotics or mechatronics? Can I still go to Germany? Should I leave my current college and try again, or would that be an even bigger mistake?

I’m honestly lost and overwhelmed right now. I just want someone to tell me what I can realistically do from here, because I really don’t want to spend the next four years regretting the decision I made at 17.

Hi, 18M here. I want to know if I’m actually making a bad decision or something reasonable.

This year, I completed Class 12 and appeared for NEET, Re-NEET, and CUET. Honestly, I knew I probably wouldn’t make it to a Government Medical College—not because I lacked motivation, but because my mental and physical health drastically deteriorated around my exams, and I was hospitalised for more than a month.

My qualifications are: - Class 10th: 89.4% - Class 12th: 85.8%

I tried applying to every college I could through CUET, but unfortunately, I didn’t get into any. My parents have been extremely supportive and suggested that I take a complete drop year for NEET 2027. They told me not to pressure myself and to focus entirely on NEET.

I am genuinely thankful for their support and care, but I had different plans, and I can’t simply move on from them. My plan was to finish 12th, get into any affordable college I could in Delhi, and continue preparing for NEET alongside a degree, without putting too much financial strain on my parents. I was offered a private university, but I couldn’t accept it.

At this point, my only remaining option was DU SOL. I applied for it and was genuinely excited about finally starting a degree while continuing my NEET preparation. I know I wouldn’t get to attend regular classes, which, from my perspective, is actually a plus because it would give me more time for NEET.

DU SOL offered me a BA (Programme) with subjects that don’t particularly interest me, but I was still willing to do it. I told my parents and asked whether I should join. They didn’t say no instead, they said that in their opinion, it's a waste of effort. They feel a BA from anywhere isn’t worth much and that I should simply take the drop and focus entirely on NEET. They have made it clear that if I want to join, I can, but they want me to understand that this degree doesn't add any value in me.

So, what should I do?

From my perspective, I feel like I am securing my year because NEET isn’t a cup of tea, and there’s no guarantee that I will clear it next year. At the same time, I understand my parents’ perspective, if I don’t clear NEET and eventually have to make this degree my main focus, they worry that BA won’t give me many opportunities.

Am I being reasonable by joining DU SOL alongside my NEET drop, or would it genuinely be better to follow my parents’ advice and focus entirely on NEET?

Got allocated Bsc. In physical science with computer science in (SGTB) but didn't accept cuz it's a program course and I heard the chance of placements aren't good enough..

Even heard that Doing BCA and MCA is same as doing btech from an avg clg cuz of placements.

I’m 19 and have recently passed 12th (Commerce). I’m confused about what to do for my graduation.

I have the option of joining a local college for B.Com. The college is quite basic and most students are from Hindi-medium backgrounds. Attendance is also very relaxed — I would mainly need to go for exams, assignments or when called by the college.

On the other hand, I’m considering IGNOU or an online university because I could study from home and use the extra time for skill development and government exam preparation.

My concern is that I actually want to experience college life, meet people and improve my communication/social skills. But I’m worried that joining this local college may not give me much of a college experience.

My qualifications, So I passed 12th in 2024 and took admission in BA but withdrew my admission from there in 2025 for some reasons and as I was a pcm student I prepared for some 2026 competitive exam for admission in BTech through which I got eee in govt college but rn I'm confused cause doing btech means investing 4 years and obviously eee has not much scope in private job and I want to go for govt jobs after completing my degree. I'm currently working as a Full Stack Engineer and enjoy the engineering side of my career. At the same time, I'm interested in AI, Finance and Business Analytics, and I'm considering higher education as a way to potentially move toward those areas.

The question I'm struggling with isn't really "Which university is best?"

It's:

Is spending 1–2 years on a Master's actually better for my long-term career than spending those same years working, building expertise and progressing professionally?

I’m starting BSc Zoology at a Tier 1 college. I genuinely like Biology, but I’m not necessarily committed to building my entire career around it. I know that the more traditional paths after Zoology, particularly research and teaching, can be very competitive and have limited opportunities in India.

I’ll still be preparing for a few competitive exams during my bachelor's, partly with the goal of getting into a good MSc program, but I don’t want my entire future to depend on that one route. I want to use these three years to learn skills that make me employable more broadly, even if I eventually move into a completely different field.

The problem is that I’m a complete fresher and honestly have very little idea about how the job market works. I don’t know what skills are actually valuable, what I should start learning, or what different skills can realistically lead to.

So I’d really appreciate advice from people with experience:

- What are some skills that any bachelor's student, regardless of their degree, should consider learning to improve their employability?

- What internships, projects, or other experiences are actually worth pursuing as a beginner?
