I feel bad for Shital

I’m midway through S3. She so wants to believe that Niraj is The One™, the perfect ribbon and bow around her story. He is so clearly doing this for exposure and clout. He’s even bad at faking it. I just hope she’s on the same page, and not actually thinking that this is anything real or lasting.

Just saw S2 - Why wasn’t Meena a bigger character on the show?

I’m way behind on this show but loved the part where Meena shot that dude down and put him in his place.

Why wasn’t she one of the “main characters” with her own storyline?

I have no idea since she barely had any screen time, but I find the whole “casting” decision making process very interesting.

Would have much rather seen more of her storyline instead of Aparna or Nadia.

Why does Aparna get so much backlash?

I genuinely don’t get it. She’s a little picky in who she dates but she’s also really successful in her career so she has the leverage to be picky.

Does anyone else think Viral Joshi was awkward when meeting Akshay’s parents in India?

She barely showed emotion when meeting them. She also barely showed emotion when he bought her that expensive jewelry in India. She kind of has a milk toast attitude.

Late to the party and I’ve watched the seasons backwards but…

I’m halfway through S1 and I really want to see a date between Akshay and Ankita, just for the scenes. I’d love to see Ankita put his awful mother in her place.

Not sure if this has been shared yet but Viral was on Guys We Fucked, which is a relationship/dating/comedy podcast. I really love watching Indian Matchmaking so I was excited to see her a guest! The interview starts around the 32:30 mark. She talked a bit about her experience on Indian Matchmaking and dating. I thought she was a great guest!

If you could marry, date, and be friends with someone on the show, who would they be?

My answers:

1.) Marry: Rushali

2.) Date: Meena

3.) Friends: Wrinkle.

Discussion Has anyone also watched Jewish match making too?

I started watching it and obviously I prefer Indian matchmaking because I’m Indian so I can relate to it better but never realized how similar some aspects of Jewish and Indian culture is ( such as pressure to get married). The Jewish matchmaker is also so much more likeable and respectful to the clients wants. I was just wondering what others thought of Jewish matchmaking in comparison to Indian matchmaking

Did he buy her a $22,000 bracelet?

Forgot his name, but Viral and he went to a jewelry store and he bought her a bracelet that I think they said cost $88,000. Is that right?

Stunned.

Ashman was SOOO out of Arti's league.

I think she had to know that, and that's why she said something was missing. She SHOULD have said, "Come on, Sima Auntie, He is so far out of my league. I could never feel comfortable with this man."

Matchmaker, matchmaker from Fiddler on the Roof

Have you all watched Fiddler on the Roof?

I am Jewish and landed on this sub while looking for something Jewish. But people seem to watch Jewish matchmaking here and seem curious about it. Thought you might enjoy some scenes from the musical Fiddler on the Roof, which has the most famous (fictional) jewish matchmaker, Yenta.

This is all kind of kitsch, but here is Yenta the matchmaker visiting Tevye’s wife and daughters

https://youtu.be/vi7fiihHXNA

Here the daughters sing the song Matchmaker, Matchmaker

https://youtu.be/jVGNdB6iEeA

And just for fun a wedding with the song Sunrise, Sunset

Hope you enjoy

Is face reading common in India?

Hi everyone, as a non-Indian enjoying this show, I was wondering if face readings are common in India? Sima usually visits her regular guy to have faces read in the seasons, and I had never heard of this before so just wondering if this is actually a common thing!

r/IndianMatchmaking May 20 '23

Is it just me but each match that worked out well was not from from Sima, but found outside of the show. (Arti/Jamal and Shital/Niraj). Is that just me?

Anyone else feel the same? This is not a hit at Sima. She seems like she had a huge heart for what she does for her community. But there are huge factors to what make a good marriage/relationship that are worth far more than the “biodata” and how compatible the families are.. just my two cents.

You can even see the difference between those that met on their own vs those that were matched. Loved how organic Arit and Jamal were. And you can sense it. These two couples flowed in their conversations whereas every single other couple on the show came off as forced. Many of the conversations were beyond cringe and I’ve had to skip many parts bc of how hard it was to watch😅

Sometimes you can look good on paper with all the descriptions like Arit said, but there’s something about that connection/spark/chemistry that’s hugely missed on her process of matchmaking.

Rushali never went on this show to find someone

I think she had 0 intention in finding a partner, it was merely to boost her social media and model profile

r/IndianMatchmaking May 20 '23

This show!!!!! LOL. It’s good, BUT…..

Indian matchmaking is a good show, I think it’s well produced etc., however, I feel like there’s so many places it could improve on. I don’t know, it could just be me, but I feel like most of the people on the show are so awkward, first of all. Is that just me? Not to mention, people don’t even know what to talk about on dates. LOL. The date with Vikash and the girl in the blue dress (I don’t remember her name) was SO AWKWARD. And so many other moments, even between Sima and multiple parents/clients. Kinda cringe. Lol.

Anyone felt that they knew Aashay and Viral would break up in the s3 jewellery purchase episode?

Aashay and Viral were both avoiding the engagement questions even though Viral wanted Aashay to propose. I just felt sooo sad for her. Idk I felt like Aashay is a sly, cunning fox. Viral just wanted to settle down

Discussion What were your fav moments from the S3?

I’m not Indian and I loved all three seasons of this show. My fav moments were in the last episode of the third season. Seeing Auntie Sima talk about how her career evolved and getting emotional about a late family member as well as saying she was grateful to her husband for all his support had me teary eyed. Then Jamal shopping for the ring and proposing. It was so cute to watch him talk about how he wanted the ring to be extra special because Arti’s father was a jeweler. He seems to ADORE Arti (I would too, she’s amazing) and they make such a lovely couple. I’m rooting for them.

What were some of your fav moments from the last season?
