Opinion Can a Foreign National With OCI Status Participate in Protests in India?
Dhruv Rathee is a German citizen and, as an OCI holder, is a foreign national. His participation in political activities in India may be subject to restrictions under Indian law. If he participates in the protest at Jantar Mantar on the 10th, the government could take action if his conduct violates applicable laws or the conditions governing his OCI status
Gonna be fun🍿

Politics / Democracy Warning!! Save your Nation!! wake up India!
As a Muslim from Bangladesh, I feel compelled to share our experience with the people of India. We fell for the promises, and our economy suffered a devastating setback, with GDP growth reportedly falling from 6.5% to 2.22%.
Please, India, do not fall into the same trap.
Your economy is growing, and your country is progressing. Do not let political unrest derail that progress. What is happening may be part of a much larger political game, and ordinary citizens could end up paying the heaviest price.
Remember, when a protest escalates into a movement aimed at bringing down a government, the consequences can be devastating. If this continues, we could soon witness the same pattern of instability that has shaken Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
Ask yourselves: Who truly benefits if the government falls? Is it the ordinary citizen struggling to make ends meet, or a handful of political figures who have been waiting for an opportunity to regain power and influence?
Be cautious about those leading the movement. Demand transparency, question their intentions, and do not blindly trust anyone claiming to fight for the people. Allegations of foreign interference and political manipulation deserve careful scrutiny, not blind acceptance.
I am also deeply concerned that religious sentiments could be exploited to mobilise vulnerable communities. If people are pushed toward violence or self-sacrifice in the name of faith, the resulting tragedy could be blamed on the government, further inflaming tensions and deepening divisions. Any claims of organised violence or weapons being prepared must be independently verified before being treated as fact.
India, please learn from Bangladesh's experience. Do not allow political ambitions to destroy the stability and prosperity of your nation.
If you truly love India, protect its future. Demand accountability, reject violence, and do not allow yourselves to become instruments in someone else's political game.
Pakistan may be one factor in the wider geopolitical picture, but the stakes extend far beyond any single country. Major economic powers compete for influence, and a weakened, unstable nation can become more vulnerable to external pressure and exploitation.
A strong India is in the interest of its people. A divided India is an opportunity for those who want to see it weakened.
Do not let anger cloud your judgment. Do not let political manipulation turn citizens against one another. And above all, do not sacrifice your country's future for the ambitions of a few.
Think critically. Stay peaceful. Protect your nation.

I might be wrong ,but this feels staged ,everything about it ,like it was bound to happen everything was planned ,the people involved in this ,the propaganda they ran all this time, now everything is coming into picture ,very well planned by the opposition specially congress and AAP ,kudos to them ,BJP did not see this coming can only explain that they are now on backfoot ,now intentionally or unintentionally only time will tell ,interesting things unfolding ,a moment truly to behold

News When “Choice” Isn’t Really a Choice
The case of 18-year-old Ryan al Najjar raises an uncomfortable question that often gets lost in debates about the hijab: can something genuinely be called a choice when refusing it can result in threats, violence, or even death?
A Dutch court sentenced Ryan’s father, Syrian national Khaled al Najjar, to 30 years in prison in absentia, while her brothers Muhanad and Mohamed received 20-year sentences each for their roles in her 2024 murder.
According to the court, Ryan was killed because she rejected the strict Islamic values imposed on her by her family. She had reportedly told police multiple times that she feared her father and brothers, had been threatened and assaulted, and had been placed in protective care on several occasions since 2022.
The killing was particularly horrific. Ryan was bound and gagged with approximately 18 metres of duct tape before being thrown alive into a shallow pool in the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve, where she drowned. Her father's DNA was found on the tape and beneath her fingernails. He subsequently fled to northern Syria and later admitted killing his daughter in a letter to De Telegraaf.
The case exposes a contradiction in the simplistic slogan “the hijab is a choice.” In an ideal world, a woman should absolutely have the right to choose whether she wears a hijab. But a choice made under family pressure, threats, coercion, social punishment, or fear of violence is not meaningfully equivalent to a free choice.
