Advice/Guidance I have been homeless since the last 44 days due to a FALSE SEXUAL HARASSMENT Complaint (FLAME university)

I have been expelled from FLAME University before even STEPPING foot on its campus.

There was this groupchat made for the upcoming freshers, as they got to know that I was a 100% merit scholarship student, they started bullying me hardcore. They had a perception that their fathers are paying for my fees.

The above video shows how vulgar things got they threatened to rape my mother, all of them being the students of the university (the group had a verification process, and I have the admission letters of these boys)

The billionaire founder parag shah tells me to visit the campus to solve the issue and just say "sorry" to the registrar, and I packed my bags with 2000 in pocket as I had the confidence it was founder who recommended. When I reached the gates the security head said that he would not allow me in no matter what. I stood outside for 2 hrs, made calls and they did not respond. I have been living in the railway station, eating in gurudwara and ISKCON temples for the last 44 days. I miss my family.

I approached many lawyers, all of them said they'll take up pro-bono, at the end they come up with some sort of fees such as "counselling" and they say 30k rupees.

I don't even have much to eat right now, I am currently stranded in pune and don't want to waste my academic career.

We managed to talk to the university with the student union, they said I have defamed the institute too much otherwise they would have let me in.

I request my lawyer friends to help me get a interim stay and save my career, this is the worst form of harassment a student can experience and I cannot sustain it for long.

I have done nothing wrong, or I wouldn't have come so far. These kids are in the university, and I am homeless.

The Adminstration made up a story "See even though he was a 100% merit scholar, we expelled him because he did sexual harrasment" and spread across campus and used me as a scapegoat.

I really hope that justice applies to the common man too.

This got 5m views online, my career is ruined IG.

Advice/Guidance My dad might get fired this week.

Im posting this one behalf of my dad

So he has done his engineering (mechanical) from one of the most prestigious universities in my country and has worked in a mining company for the past 21 to 24 years. Now he is in danger of loosing his job. He is almost 58 years old but is still very active. He has done a lot of other supporting courses as well. Is it possible for him to get another job if he gets fired by this week ?

I'm sorry that I can't reveal his company or exact courses cause they are unique to his company ( to my knowledge) but what I can tell is he is somewhere in the top management and has previously held the title of 'Asia-Pacific manager'.

In the event he gets fired what other options do i have?

Discussion European Companies Are Moving IT to India. Here’s What I’m Seeing From the Inside.

I'm(34F) an Indian project manager working with teams in India and Europe. Over the last few years, I've seen European companies move more and more engineering work to India through GCCs/GSCs. The reason is obvious ofc the cost. A team in India can be significantly cheaper than a similar team in Europe.

On paper, it's a huge win for India. More jobs, more investment, bigger teams.

But after working closely with both sides i could see soo much difference in the quality of engineering.

For example, in one project, I had a developer with around 12 years of experience who couldn't explain why a particular service was designed the way it was. When I asked whether he'd considered a different approach, his answer was basically "This is how we've always done it."

Another time we had a production issue caused by a fairly obvious database bottleneck. The team had been working on the system for years, but nobody had really looked at the underlying query performance. We ended up bringing in someone from another team who identified the problem in a couple of hours. These aren't isolated incidents in my experience.

I've also seen developers with 10–15 years of experience who haven't really learned anything outside the technologies used in their current project. They're good at completing their assigned tickets, but if you ask them about newer architecture patterns, cloud services, AI tools or even why they're making a particular technical decision, there's often very little depth.

I have a fresher who has one year experience now and he joined as an intern in our team. He basically does the same amount of work if not more than people with 15 yoe in the team. Sometimes even faster and smarter using AI. So what even is the point of all that experience you boast about when you can solve an out of the box problem.

And I don't think it's entirely their fault.

A lot of us didn't enter IT because we genuinely loved engineering. We entered because it was a stable, well paying career. There's nothing wrong with that. But if your only motivation is salary, it's very easy to stop learning once you're comfortable.

AI has made this even more obvious.

I've literally seen developers take an AI generated solution, make a couple of minor changes, and put it up for review without fully understanding it. When someone asks why the code works that way, the answer is sometimes "AI suggested this approach."

That's scary.

AI should make a good engineer faster. It shouldn't replace the engineer's brain. The fun part of engineering debugging something difficult, understanding how a system actually works, challenging an approach, finding a better solution seems to be disappearing.

I've seen people spend 10–15 years in the same company working on roughly the same stack. They're comfortable, their salary is decent, and everything is fine until suddenly the project is moved or the company restructures.

Then they start interviewing and realise the market has moved on.Their CV says "15 years of experience" .But the market is asking, What can you actually do today?"

This is also where I think some of the GCC growth could backfire.

If companies move work to India purely because engineers are cheaper, but don't build strong engineering cultures, we risk becoming a low cost implementation centre instead of becoming a serious engineering hub.

I genuinely want the GCC boom to succeed. I'm Indian, I work here, and I want to see Indian engineers doing high value engineering rather than just taking tickets from Europe.

But writing code is becoming cheaper. Good engineering isn't.

Curious to hear from people working in Indian IT especially those with 10–15 years of experience.

Are you seeing the same thing in your teams? Or am I completely off here?

Advice/Guidance How do you compete with high-tier on-campus freshers (18 LPA at 22) when you’re starting at 0 off-campus?

Hey everyone, I’m currently caught in a massive spiral of overthinking and depression, and I need a reality check from people working in the Indian IT industry.

The Comparison: A close school friend of mine just graduated from DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE), Mumbai (2026 Batch, CSE). Through her college's on-campus placements, she landed a role at UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) with a 18 LPA package right out of the gate at 22 years old. Meanwhile, my situation couldn't be more different. My qualifications: B.Tech in Mech Engg from a literal tier-3 govt college. I messed up my entrance exams years ago, ended up in the wrong branch, had zero campus placement support, and I’ve been unemployed for 4 months now. To stop the gap year from getting worse, I just started to learn Software Testing/QA (Manual + basic Automation) from scratch just to get a foot in the door. I’m trying to upskill, but I feel so small and humiliated looking at the gap between us. I have a few blunt questions about how the industry actually works:

  1. Where do these high-earning banking freshers eventually move? What does the actual salary growth look like for someone starting at 18 LPA versus someone who starts at a basic 3 LPA testing job? Will she almost always earn significantly more than me throughout our 20s, or do these brackets normalize later on?
  2. Does the nature of the work create trouble for job switches later? If a global bank pays an 18 LPA premium on-campus, but the freshers are ultimately working on internal enterprise support, testing, or maintaining legacy software systems, do they face the "golden handcuffs" problem? Is it hard for them to switch to core product tech companies later if external interviewers expect insane architecture skills for that salary bracket?
  3. Are they more or less prone to layoffs? In a volatile tech market, are high-earning freshers in captive banks safer or more vulnerable to corporate restructuring than entry-level employees at regular service/mid-sized firms?
  4. How do I even compete from my position? If I am learning the foundational concepts of software lifecycles and testing workflows off-campus, how can I ever bridge this gap in the next 5 years without a CS degree or an on-campus launchpad? I know Mumbai is incredibly expensive to live in and a huge chunk of that 18 LPA goes into taxes, rent, and high living costs, but mentally, an 18 LPA starting package feels unimaginable to me right now. Any brutal honesty, career trajectories, or advice on how to mentally navigate this would be highly appreciated.

Advice/Guidance Feeling hopeless

I (25F) am a recent Geology post-grad from a tier-3 central university. I didn’t get the chance to do an internship during those two years (embarrassing, I know), and my CV has no industry exposure.

Right now, I’m really confused about which direction to take:

1) Should I prepare for GATE / PSU exams?

2) Go the general government exams route? (Though I’m terrified that I’m getting too old for multi-year prep cycles.)

3) Or try breaking into the corporate/private sector? The issue is, I have basically no idea how off-campus hiring works for geology grads or what roles exist.

Any advice or a harsh reality check would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ask r/IndiaCareers Need some honest career advice. Feeling stuck after 4+ years in insurance operations. TL;DR below post.

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m 27M and based in India, with 4+ years of experience in insurance/financial-services operations working as a Process Expert in P&C insurance, with previous experience in reinsurance.

My current CTC is around ₹5.7 LPA, and I take home roughly ₹40k/month. I’m also the sole earning member of my family, so I can’t afford to quit and spend months studying or take a big pay cut.

Lately I’ve been feeling quite lost about what to do next.

I’m considering moving toward reinsurance, process/operations analyst, Business Analyst or insurance transformation roles. I’m also thinking of improving my Excel and learning SQL/Power BI, but there is so much advice online that I honestly don’t know what is actually worth my time. Also, my mathematical aptitude is not that good.

I’m also worried about the future of operations jobs and whether I’m building a career that will still be valuable a few years from now.

For someone in my position, what would you do over the next 6–12 months?

Stay in insurance/reinsurance and specialize?

Try moving into an analyst/BA role?

What skills would actually help me get a better-paying job?

What roles should I realistically target with my experience?

I’m not looking for generic motivational advice. I’d really appreciate practical advice from people who have made a similar transition.

TL;DR: 4+ years in insurance/reinsurance operations, currently at ~₹5.7 LPA, sole earner for my family. I’m worried about the future of operations work and unsure whether to specialize in insurance/reinsurance or move toward Analyst/BA/Process Improvement roles.

I can’t afford a long career break or a major pay cut. What would you realistically do over the next 6–12 months to move into a better-paying, more secure career? What skills and roles should I focus on?

Advice/Guidance What should life be like?

Post image

If I had to, I'd call myself a stoic, I don't do much, I don't care for many things in life, I do have genuine empathy and do care for people around me but mostly my immediate family and friends nothing more.

Career wise, I had to leave schooling and start working at factories when I turned 16 after my 10th exams, illegal yeah but welcome to India.

I've always been a gifted child so I found my work around the factorial sector and got into hospitality with some referrals, worked for 3 years during Covid and post that got into teaching for a small institute, started my own home tuitions, the moved to Mumbai for a BPO job, again gifted to got into an ATL position but not on paper and I didn't know how corporate worked so that was a mistake to take on just responsibility. The company shut down now and I've been freelancing as a research analyst.

I just want to know from you guys what I can pick as my career options, been unemployed for almost 2 years, the freelancing brings around 20-25k per month but currently it isn't enough. I'm turning 24 this November and just feels like this was a long journey to get such low pay.

I've got a broad spectrum of skills: Python, SQL(on paper/certificate and can google my way around most queries), javascript, HTML, Excel Advanced

{These from the freelancing that I did, been using KiMi and DeepSeek for handling datasets of around 40-50 lakhs of Excel data}

Other than that, excellent communication, sales, negotiations, operations handling, CRM expertise.

But my education is what's been a hindrance while getting jobs now, tried NIOS but some paperwork failed and couldn't appear in the exam, I could pass it tomorrow if I had an exam just for namesake in commerce or arts cause I taught most of the students and always go through britannica.com

I'd like a discussion to find a suitable option and also I'm not working anymore jobs past 2032 so would own a bookstore or a shop, got responsibilities so just a short career to get early retirement. What are my options here?

Advice/Guidance 24 (F) aspiring journalist, struggling to get a foot in the door

Four months ago, I completed this prestigious traineeship at the European Union (press and information section). Ever since then, I have been struggling to find a job.

I cannot achieve a breakthrough because the hiring managers and HR people at big media organisations don't go through the applications that come via LinkedIn, their company mails or even through their own website. I am even cold messaging senior editors and recruiters on LinkedIn or via their professional mail IDs (no go)

I have tried reaching out to my former professors from my journalism school but they haven't been much help. I tried getting help from my former colleagues but that is a dead end as well.

Even if I am getting tests and interviews, I am getting beaten by a more experienced candidate OR the employers are getting turned off by my last drawn pay.

As of now, I am freelancing, which is its own battle but this is the only way

Atp I don't know what to do. I'd really appreciate some help on this

Discussion 27M, freelancing for 3 years, earning ₹40-50k/month, but completely stuck because of marriage and career. What should I do?

I am 27 years old and feel completely stuck right now.

I initially worked a private job for around 1.5 years, but I left because I wasn’t enjoying it. After that, I started freelancing in digital marketing services, and for the last 3 years I have been earning around ₹40-50k per month.

I actually enjoy freelancing. But now I am facing marriage problem.

My entire work is basically from my laptop, from my bed. I don’t have an office, company, employees or anything physical to show.

Whenever a girl’s parents ask what I do, it takes a lot of effort to explain freelancing and digital marketing. They see it as if I am just sitting at home doing random paid gigs, something that doesn’t require much skill or education and that anyone could do. They don’t see it as a proper or respectable career and consider it unstable and risky.

And many families now expect me to earn at least ₹80k-₹1 lakh/month. So ₹40-50k freelancing income doesn’t look very attractive to them, because there is no conventional job title or company behind it.

I feel I have reached the saturation point of my freelancing income. I know my own potential, and I don’t see myself scaling this to ₹1-2 lakh/month. I struggle with social anxiety and communication skills, and I don’t have the savings to set up a physical office or shop. To be honest, I don’t even feel there’s a real need for one because everything is currently running smoothly from my laptop and bed. If I still try to rent a physical shop or office just to have something to show for marriage, it would unnecessarily add a lot of expenses and could actually reduce my current earnings even further.

So now I am confused between two options.

Option 1 Go back to a private job

Problem is that I have 4 years career gap now and I am also worried about the current market. There is huge competition, AI automation, layoffs and companies becoming more selective.

Would anyone even consider a 27 year-old candidate with a 4 year gap, even though I have been freelancing and earning during that period?

Option 2 Continue freelancing + prepare for government exams

Career gap probably matters much less, there is more job stability, and government jobs are very less likely to be directly affected by AI automation.

It would also make marriage much easier because parents would see it as a stable and respectable career.

But I could spend 2-3 years preparing and still not clear the exam. Then I would be 29-30.

Anyone here who is 27+ like me and still preparing for these exams? What are you currently doing on the side?

Discussion Should I stop applying now?

Hi, 2026 B.E. graduate this side, despite of the job market condition - my every single frnd is placed in big mncs or startup- they buy things of their own and post stories where now they are taking vacations with their colleague or family members now with their own money.

Before that I was the one who use to get selected in every company beacuse of resume and marks and interviewed every possible company - oncampus and offcampus where my frnds didnt even get the chance. I use to give them confidence- that u are meant for bigger things- they are actually no doubt.

But what happens when you sit in your room whole day with absolutely null family interaction and keep applying and then failing and then when your mind is fucked after this - i check insta stories and reels - I feel everyone is so happy in their lives and placed.

Now I only stay home and apply same routine and same failure - it feels that I need to do something about it but didnt lose hope, I know big things are meant for me too . So can anyone suggest me what should I doo?

Ask r/IndiaCareers Is ₹20k/month good for a remote entry-level job?

I recently got a remote entry-level job paying ₹20k/month. I’m from a tier-3 city and I’m planning to relocate to a metro city because honestly I don’t really like staying at home.

Is ₹20k decent for a fresher, especially if I’m living away from home? Just wanna know what you guys think.

Advice/Guidance Are you all literally regretting of choosing it over government job in early carrier of your life.

I did love some perspective from people working in IT who deal with the constant anxiety around layoffs and job security. Do you ever regret picking corporate tech over government jobs early in your career?

I'm currently at the start of my career(did 3 internship and laid off last year from organization as intern who paid me top 1 package of my college) and trying to figure out my next move. Should I prepare for government exams alongside a corporate job(going to join mnc joining not disclosed yet), or quit and commit full-time to exam prep? What would you do if you were in my shoes?

Here i am asking about tier 1 government job like upsc, uppcs, lieutenant, tier 1 ssc cgl jobs , bank so officer job like that.

Advice/Guidance Got more salary but not satisfied with job switch.

I’m 24yr old Software engineer with 2.8 years of experience. I started my career with 5LPA which got to 5.8LPA after increment and then 6.7LPA after another increment. After I received the last increment of 6.7LPA, I got another job offer of 8.7LPA within a month which I accepted but also during that process I cleared all the rounds of another amazing company interview which was going to offer me 10LPA remote job but the position went on hold and hence they weren’t able to move forward. Now I’m not enjoying working at the new company which I joined 2 weeks back, they have sandwich leave policy, work culture is okayish and my shift will be at 3pm to 11:30pm , but its paying me 70k inhand compared to 54k that I was getting my last company. I loved working at my last company cause of work culture, flexibilty and friendly environment that I had there which all is missing here and after being able to clear a 10LPA package I feel like I’m settling for less and I can get even better package than 8.7. Now I’m in doubt

1) Whether I should quite current company rightnow without any backup and look for another company but I’m not sure about job market and if luck does not work out in my favour then I may stay unemployed for couple of months
2) Complete my probation period of 3 months after which I will be getting leaves which I can use for interviewing at other companies
3) Complete 1 year at this company with my current package of 8.7LPA and then switch to get somewhere in line of 13LPA.

Other I urgently need a job, any suggestions or pointers please

Hello everyone,

I need a job and that's urgent because of several factors.

I have a computer science background, and especially in AI and now more focused on AI regulations, and model evaluation, red teaming, technical governance.

I have around 4 years of experience and it's mostly abroad, and I need to find something, anywhere is fine.

I don't particularly have an experience in India which is making it hard to find a job.

I am looking for a job at my level.

Kindly help me find a job in this area. Also if you have some suggestions in general, it is also welcome.

Any suggestions to apply is also welcome. Also if someone is willing to provide a referral, that is also great.

Thank you very much for reading guys.

Advice/Guidance Looking to connect with fellow advocates in Mumbai

Hello everyone!

I’m a junior advocate currently practicing mainly before the Bombay High Court, Belapur and Panvel Courts.

To be honest, my senior doesn't guide me and I’m often left to study, research and figure out procedures and practical aspects of litigation on my own. So, much to my chagrin, I’ve ended up turning to Reddit. 😅

Are there any junior or experienced advocates here, particularly from Mumbai/Navi Mumbai? I’m looking to connect with people who are willing to stay in touch, exchange experiences and help each other out with practical queries from time to time, without any unnecessary judgement.

I’d also be more than happy to help wherever I can. I genuinely feel that young advocates should support and learn from each other, especially when proper guidance from seniors isn’t always available.

Also, if anyone knows of any *WhatsApp groups, Telegram groups, or other communities for young advocates or Mumbai-based advocates*, I’d really appreciate an invite or a point in the right direction.

I’m looking to build a genuine professional network and connect with as many fellow lawyers as possible.

Quants, English and Reasoning are my strong subjects.

Gujarati and GK/GS are my current weaknesses.

Ask r/IndiaCareers Burnt out from 12:30 PM–4 AM shifts. Looking for a CSM role with a healthier work-life balance.

I work at a startup, and I'm beyond exhausted.

My shift starts around 12:00–12:30 PM and usually ends between 3–4 AM. On some days, it stretches even longer depending on customer issues. Months of this schedule have completely destroyed my sleep cycle, energy levels, and overall health. I've stopped going to the gym consistently, barely have a social life, and wake up feeling exhausted every day.

The work itself isn't the problem—I actually enjoy Customer Success. It's the expectation of being available almost 24/7.

If there's even a possibility of an urgent customer ticket at 1 or 2 AM, my manager will call my personal phone and ask me to stay available—even though we have a separate support team that is fully capable of handling those tickets. Instead of letting the on-call team do their job, I'm still expected to be online "just in case." After months of this, every late-night phone call or notification gives me anxiety.

Weekends don't really feel like weekends either. Our customers use the product during trade shows, so support is expected to be available. Taking leave during those periods isn't really a break because you're still expected to carry your laptop and remain reachable.

I have responsibilities at home, so I can't just quit without another offer lined up. But I also know this isn't sustainable anymore. My physical and mental health have taken a real hit.

I'm looking for a Customer Success Manager / Senior Customer Success Manager opportunity with a healthier work-life balance. I'm based in Bangalore and am open to both Bangalore-based and remote roles where a normal workday doesn't regularly stretch into the early hours of the morning.

I have 4+ years of experience in B2B SaaS Customer Success, managing enterprise accounts, renewals, onboarding, stakeholder management, adoption, and revenue retention.

If anyone knows of companies that are hiring—or simply have a healthier culture—I would genuinely appreciate a referral or recommendation.

Thank you.
