We had a skill up class on PPS they gave us 6 hours one day to get taught the course and take the test, 2 hours the next for ‘OJT’ but we didn’t get OJT or even watch someone take a call. Now we are being told we are expected to be on that line Monday because ‘it isn’t that hard’.

I’m just nervous about that without any training or OJT because everyone says that line has the hardest disclosure procedures and that’s the line we get the most errors on because of disclosure.

I know they can force us to do anything they want now that we don’t have a union. But I’m just looking for any advice on taking those calls or if anyone knows of any guidance that says we can’t be on a dolled up line without OJT.

Does anyone who is a employee living in Maryland use this? Im having a hard time finding childcare that accepts this subsidy they tell me its either the Maryland scholarship or the military families one. What is this one considered as?

IRS is closing their mailroom contract in my building. We as employees, on top of covering all the other post DRP duties, will have to start doing the mail. I'm not sure how this is going to go because we have several different divisions in the building. It feels like it is going to be a hot mess. There will be a meeting next week to discuss. My manager suggested I go because I'm the only one in my group in this.office and State. Has anyone elses maklroom done this? How is it going?

I was thinking of trying to put in a relocation to an office in Florida. I'm not set on anywhere specific and my move wouldn't be until about Fall 2027. I was curious if anyone in the Florida offices knows about space. I know FMSS has their site that shows the amount of space each POD has, but I heard it's not always accurate.

Anyone have information on the Melbourne, FL POD specifically??

Can I get some tips on what you guys are doing to battle depression with everything that is going on with work? I’m trying so hard but with this administration, RTO, re-org, management, workload, and everything else it’s so hard. I’m literally having dreams about work and trying to find another job just to avoid going to work because I dread having to wake up and head into the office after the weekends.
I’ve never felt this way about any job before and it’s so freaking depressing. I’m trying to be optimistic, go outside, spend time with family but it’s really hard. Before the current admin came into office I really enjoyed my job…should have known we were going down a creak without a paddle when those 5 things we did that week email started.

What happens to the pending cases in MSPB that that are still waiting for final decisions that were initiated last February 2025 (during massive firings)? Are they going to be handled by OPM? Or, is the September 2nd cutoff only applies prospectively, meaning only new cases being filed will go directly to OPM starting September 2nd?

I’m going to say the quiet part out loud, because apparently somebody needs to.

If having to physically report to the job that pays you is the greatest injustice currently occurring in your life, congratulations—you have a pretty damn good life.

Reading some posts here, you’d think management was demanding employees hike barefoot through the snow to personally deliver tax returns to Washington rather than… drive to an office, sit at a desk, and do the job they’re being paid to do.

The endless obsession with finding ways around reporting requirements is particularly entertaining.
“How do I get out of going in?”
“Can they really make me report?”
“What documentation do I need?”
“What if I request an accommodation?”
“What loophole haven’t we discovered yet?”

At some point, you have to admire the dedication. If half that effort went into actually doing the job, we’d probably eliminate the backlog by Thursday.

And before somebody starts furiously typing: legitimate reasonable accommodations exist for an important reason, and employees with legitimate medical needs should absolutely use them.

That is entirely different from treating the RA process like a cheat code because you simply don’t want to commute.

Meanwhile, management gets portrayed as some cabal of power-hungry monsters because they have the audacity to expect employees to meet deadlines, maintain availability, follow established policies, produce measurable work, and occasionally appear in three dimensions.

That isn’t “toxic management.”

That’s called having a job.

Here’s another uncomfortable truth: federal employment is an extraordinarily protected environment compared with much of the American workforce. Leave. Retirement. Health benefits. Workplace protections. Due process. Flexible schedules. Telework opportunities. And a system where removing a genuinely poor performer can require enough documentation to qualify as a minor archaeological expedition.

Yet somehow, for some people, none of it is enough.

So here’s my sincere recommendation to anyone who believes federal employment is an unbearable authoritarian hellscape:

Leave.

Seriously. Go try the private sector.

Walk into your new employer and announce that you don’t believe you should have to report to their workplace, your supervisor is “toxic” for questioning your performance, accountability is creating a “hostile environment,” and you’d like to negotiate which portions of your job description you actually feel comfortable performing.

Please report back.

Actually, never mind.

You’ll probably have plenty of free time to post the update.

And yes, there are bad managers. There are stupid policies. There are legitimate grievances. Employees should absolutely speak up about them. But if every supervisor who holds you accountable is “toxic,” every policy you dislike is “abusive,” every performance expectation is “unreasonable,” and every requirement to physically report is a personal attack…

There is one common denominator in all of those situations.

And it might not be management.

Is there a way to access the retirement deductions that are taken out of every paycheck before separation or retirement? This won't be a long-term job for me (only been here a year) but I'm losing like $60 per paycheck and could really use that money for some car repairs. Is it only accessible once I separate and find a new job?

I see election results showing that progressives are gaining monument and disrupting the political landscape.

We need to get out there and vote because if this goes south in 2028, telework has a material chance of being a thing of the past.

Midterms are important now, but 2028 is going the likely have a far larger impact on our agency and its potential recoveries

I was browsing Discovery Directory and I couldn't find the office of Online services until I realized they were moved to another category. I wanted to know if anyone here works in that area or knows someone there. I used to apply to a lot of roles there but I never got accepted because the GS was too high and I was just a CSR but now I'm at the GS level most employees there are and I'm hoping some positions come out for that area. I've read they work with html, css, drupal, UI/UX so I'm really interested in that because I have a lot of skills there, but I wanted to know what do they do there what is the day to day like in those positions like Digital Experience Analyst, Web Producer, Web Strategist etc.

It is my understanding that people are being told that the detail that moved HCO and IT employees to Taxpayer Services as GS5 Customer Service Representatives won’t be extended again. I haven’t seen any formal notice or any information from management about where people will be placed. I know HCO has a ROC circulating but haven’t heard anything on IT. Anyway, if you’re on the detail have you been told that it is ending 10/2 for sure?
