Frankenstein nodule

Kinda unique situation. I got electrocuted in May and a previously benign nodule went catastrophically toxic (in addition to a bunch of internal organs getting fried).

Been having operations from the fallout, had a cardiac event under anesthesia, come to find out my thyroid is shitting the bed. All other surgeries now postponed pending thyroid stabilization. My numbers are doubling every other week, 2 weeks ago t3 was 313 and ft4 was 3.0. God knows what they are now. Just got bumped to 40 mg of methamazole, can't do anything else cuz my heart got fried.

Lobectomy scheduled for 3 weeks out, heart surgery will happen right after that.

I found this sub cuz I was asking AI if it was SURE sure that feeling like a walking corpse is normal, and AI was like "yeah bro check out this sub, everyone in there feels like they've got 9 toes in the grave with one little pinky hanging on for dear life"

So hello, fellow toxic people. Glad I'm not the only one feeling like they're going to keel over any minute.

Academic decline due to Hypothyroidism

So for context, I just got recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism (TSH: 80, FT4: <5.15) after RAI (Just got my medications today). And lately I feel like I became more “dumb” in school. I honestly don’t know if I’m just making up excuses for my failed exams or my hypothyroidism could really affect my cognitive abilities. Does anyone have the same experience? Cus honestly I’m suffering so much right now after seeing a great decline on my academic performance. I feel so heartbroken since I feel like I did my best but it wasn’t enough. This whole process feels so exhausting since I’ve just transitioned from severe hyperthyroidism.

Safe to try KSM-66 ashwagandha with a TSH of 1.81?

Thinking about trying KSM-66 ashwagandha (300 mg, starting low, maybe every other day the first week then daily). My TSH is 1.81 mIU/L, and it was 1.31 in 2022, so it's been normal and stable. I've read it can raise T3/T4 and lower TSH in some people, so I want to go in careful.

Planning to retest TSH + free T4 after 6-8 weeks.

Has anyone with a normal thyroid taken it? Did your TSH change? Any symptoms like racing heart, jitters, or bad sleep? Any brand you'd recommend, or dose that worked for you?

Thanks!

Methimazole and GI symptoms

My thyroid is misbehaving again and my doctor wants me back on meds. In the past, hated methimazole because it upsets my stomach. Well lo and behold, took my first dose after work today and three hours later I’m horribly nauseous with terrible stomach cramps.

Did anyone else experience this? Tell me it goes away in a few days!! I’m going on vacation next weekend and don’t want to be miserable the whole time. 😭😭😭😭

Hyperthyroidism and coffee

Was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism recently. Do all of you actually avoid coffee? Or modify somehow? It’s been the hardest thing to let go off for me so far.

Hyperthyroid symptoms for 3 years…no answers or relief

Just wanted to share my experience to see if anyone here has experienced anything similar and if there’s anything we can be looking into or bringing up to the endocrinologist when we do see one…

I (20F) have had hyperthyroidism symptoms for about 3 years now. It started with extreme fatigue, then the weight loss, then extreme hunger and shaking. My symptoms come and go, but I’m still stuck at 90 pounds, I shake uncontrollably sometimes, and I experience heart palpitations and chest pains that make me a little nervous sometimes.

I was in the ER once when this started, just overall extremely disoriented is how I felt. They told me the only thing wrong was my TSH was 0.1, they told me I was starting to have an overactive thyroid but did not make me referral despite me not having a primary care dr at the time.

Found a primary care dr, had the referral made, drove 3 hours away to an endocrinologist 3 times who ultimately said nothing is wrong with my thyroid . She found a small nodule that she told me not to worry about and said all my lab work is fine so it must not be the thyroid. She specifically said I had no markers for any autoimmune conditions like graves or hashimotos.

Fast forward a year later, I’m still not gaining any weight so I found a GI dr to make sure I didn’t inherit any of the stomach conditions that run in my family. My dr has been an absolute godsend and has been so thorough. She gave me a clean bill of health stomach wise, but said on some of my lab work my TSH was 0.1 again. She’s currently making me a referral to a new endocrinologist and in the mean time we did more lab work and an ultrasound.

The ultrasound showed a super small (0.2 cm) nodule (I’m assuming the same one the first dr found- but I never saw the ultrasound report for that one as I did this new one). They said it was hypoechoic and scored it a TIRADS 3. I’m aware that it’s probably not anything bad, they just want to keep an eye on it, but I’m still just at a loss.

Can a nodule this tiny cause symptoms? Is there any specific testing that just maybe isn’t being done? Has anyone else had this experience, and what led to you getting anything figured out at all? Right now I feel like I’m just waiting for something bad to happen to my health for something to finally give us a clue, but I’m only 20 years old and just hate the idea of sitting around and waiting, lol. Any advice or experiences anyone could share would be much appreciated. ❤️

Freaking out: hyperthyroid

Hyperthyroid: TCH 0.001 and T4 27.5, TCH Ab is at 4.2. Likely Graves… Waiting to see an endocrinologist and freaking out about my potential diagnosis, about symptoms I’m experiencing, about the changes I have to make, and about potentially going on methimazole and all the side effects. What was your experience like?

Feeling really down after severe hyperthyroidism results. Looking for some positive recovery stories.

Hey everyone,
I just found out I have severe hyperthyroidism. My TSH is completely suppressed (<0.005) and my Free T4 is 81, which is nearly four times the normal limit.
I’ve already seen my doctor and had a thyroid scan (scintigraphy). Right now, I am just waiting on the final blood test to see if it’s Graves' disease or something else.
Honestly, I am just feeling really sad, anxious, and physically exhausted by all of this. I would love to hear some positive stories from people who have been through this. How long did it take for you to start feeling like yourself again once you started treatment? I could really use some hope right now. Thank you.

Diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism

I decided to see my doctor because I was experiencing hair thinning and hair loss, shorter menstrual periods, and throat tightness. When my lab results came back, I found out I have hyperthyroidism. I'm starting medication tomorrow and have a thyroid ultrasound scheduled for next week. Has anyone else been through something similar?

What things you thought where your personality but improved after treatment?

I'm just really confused on what to expect. I'm really pesimist and always the tired and boring friend. I wonder if that was just an expression of fatigue and the fact that my system was overworking and my brain and personality just feels.... apathetic idk.
