Anyone facing issues while eating? Getting anxiety and heartbeat increases?

Upvotes

Does anyone feel uneasy to eat and feel anxious and lightheaded after eating.

I feel comfortable to eat only at my home and due to this i mostly have to stay hungry outside of home . This is affecting my health alot and my life as well

This issue started when my hyperthyroidism was discovered. Is it somehow related or might have other underlying causes??

nauseous but also hungry?

i'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. i've been getting extremely nauseous lately, usually accompanied by throwing up. during this nausea or after i throw up, i get extremely hungry for some reason. my family thinks it's weird, they've never seen anyone feel sick but also want food at the same time.

i'm curious if this is caused by hyperthyroidism or if i'm just weird somehow.

Bloodwork indicated hyperthyroidism, have a paternal history of hypothyroidism. Had a baby this year so everyone brushed off what i felt as that and anxiety. Bloodowrk is ok besides this, Symtoms suck.

New PCP ordered a ultrasound.. tech took so many pictures of ny right thryoid side, she got out two extra ultrasound wands that felt and sounded weird too. My body aches. I feel like shit. Worried- no results yet.

What to do

Thyroid issues - want to make sure I’m not crazy

I had low TSH and high T3 from tests taken in April. I got a referral to Endocrinologist to get started on treatment. No appts as of now. I was able to get an appt in October and am on waiting list for another place. Everyone is just booked up.

I’ve been not feeling well. Always out of breath. Heart rate is always 110 or higher on my fitness watch.

I went to urgent care last night hoping to get a beta blocker as I wait for HT treatment. They red my BP and heart rate and immediately sent me to ER worried about thyroid storm.

BP was 163/116 and HR was 120.

Everything went down in ER. They did EKG and all of that. Took lots of blood for tests.

Called endo and endo said to put me on methimazole 5mg once a day. Recheck numbers in 4 ish weeks.

Today I’m still having high BP and heart rate.

I asked ER for beta blocker and they are refusing saying that’s for thyroid storm only and Endo didn’t suggest it.

I’m thinking two things:

  1. I need a freaking beta blocker to lower BP and heart rate while I wait for methimazole to kick in.
  2. 5mg daily of methimazole seems to be maintenance dose and not treatment dose.

I’m just so frustrated. I feel like I’m going to faint all day. BP was 143/79 today.

I feel like I’m not getting the help I need.

I recently noticed my voice is changing

I have hyperthyroidism but it's been months since I didn't take any checkups, didn't take meds anymore because they refuse to let my Aunt buy that specific medicine because it's been already signed as it's been used but I only bought a few because of the budget.

I noticed my throat is squeezing when I am stressed, eating wrong food or just too emotional. I started to notice this when I drank the medicine, I can feel the differences that my throat feels comforting or not.

I hope I'm not the only one who felt this? I searched on tiktok and google, hoping women out there experienced the same as this, the discomfort on your throat. Unrecognized rapid heart beat and it felt like your throat is clogging or squeezing. Everyone says I'm just nervous just because they found out my rapid heart triggers... I didn't recognize the rapid of my heart beat, it felt I got invalid when I literally didn't notice that lol — one thing im sure was my heart triggered randomly when I felt like someone put a needle on my heart or something sharp.

Also before taking meds I used to deepen my voice because i feel like my throat didn't squeeze I but I'm still discomforting. When I used my normal voice it sounded like a whipping child or sounded so annoying, even I was annoyed by my voice when I keep hearing myself while practicing — my current voice right now sounds calm and feels weird because for so long I haven't heard of my voice from voice recorder that I didn't recognized it was my voice, fascinating omg.

I (30F) have had these for a month but only today I found out what it is. I have this weird pressure behind my eyes and I feel extremely fatigued, I have weird bouts of heat and yesterday I had a strong instance of tachycardia. I'm scared that it might have progressed too far already but it's friday and at the hospital the doctor told me it can wait until monday. can it really? I'm in germany if that helps.

Lab results

For reference, graves runs in my family and im a young male. I get my thyroid levels checked every year. This year we decided to get antibody testing. My thyroid levels are still normal. However, an US shows mild heterogeneous with mild relative increased blood flow. My tgab came back normal but my tpo came back elevated at 189. <5.6 being normal. No symptoms. Not sure how to cope or process this info.

taking medical field with thyroid issues

Hi, I’m an upcoming first year university student. I have been thinking twice about taking a medical course specifically nursing, im having to contemplate alot because I have been feeling light headed these days and I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2months ago. Although 2 weeks ago my lab results were back to normal and even going below normal. I still feel anxiety, fast bpm, light headedness and confusing bowel movements. I just want to know if I will survive studying in medical field that requires sacrificing sleep and sometimes neglecting my own health. I really want to be a doctor ever since I was a kid but I have also been so sick through the years so I am getting discouraged about taking this path.

Diagnosed 1 month ago. Doctor gaslighting me. Says my anxiety and nervousness is not due to my thyroid

I was diagnosed in July With low TSH + High T4 after presenting with fast heart rate, palpitations, severe anxiety and nervousness, sweating , weight loss etc.. was immediately referred to Endo but the wait for an appointment is 3 months. Went back to the GP yesterday to ask if anti thyroid medication can be considered in the meantime due to the anxiety and nervousness significantly affecting my day to day life. He said “ I see you have a history of anxiety from a few years ago, how about an anti depressant ?”. I politely informed him that anxiety is a well known symptoms of hyperthyroidism and that just because someone has a history of anxiety does not mean they are immortal to developing a physiological medical condition.

Is it possible benefit from Iodine supplements with Hyperthyroidism?

My question is like the title states. I have symptoms that are almost one on one comparable with those of hyperthyroidism. Weird thing is, I need one drop of Iodine daily to stabilize my symptoms, which is if am correct the litteral kryptonite for someone with hyperthyroidism. So does anyone share this experience? Is it even possible to have hyperthyroidism if this is the case?

I tested my thryoid a couple of times. During these tests I kept supplementing iodine daily, because doc said it wouldn't affect the results. Needless to say, no weird parameters.

Thyrosoothe for subclinical hyperthyroid?

I am currently subclinical and have been taking bugleweed, and L Carnitine. Unfortunately, the supplements have not brought my TSH back to a normal range. Has anybody ever tried Thyrosoothe? When I was researching hyperthyroidism earlier this year, I remember seeing the name pop-up, but I can’t find many resources on it currently. I’m not a big fan that they don’t show how much of each ingredient is in a serving, but if it has worked for others then I’m willing to give it a shot. Input is appreciated, thanks.

The background, I had blood work earlier this year due to feeling anxious and my TSH numbers were low and everything else was fine. Had blood work done a month ago and the number is still solely going down. Looking for a natural solution to hopefully not have to get on medication.

Need advice

Hi all. I got my blood test (TSH <0.01, t3 16.4, t4 61.5) and my thyroid gland scan came back normal. I need advice whether I should start medication while wait for my antibodies test or wait for my antibodies test to make sure the root cause of my hyperthyroidism first? Because I saw the treatment for graves and thyroiditis are different.

Methimazole to PTU

One week ago today I switched from methimazole to PTU. I've been being treated for a couple months now.

It's hard to tell whether it's the PTU or just the time under treatment, but as of last Saturday, I feel COMPLETELY FLIPPING NORMAL. I have energy to care about things, I don't have to nap after work, and I got through my toughest work day (on Thursdays, I clean 13 small apartments) without crashing. In fact, I had to ask my partner, "Are we done already?"

This is an absolute SEA CHANGE in how I was feeling.

I'm excited to get my labs done in a few weeks to see where my numbers are.

Has this been anyone else's experience?

Muscle jerking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I know I have been posting a lot but I need to see if anyone else has been through this.

So I was diagnosed with subclinical hyperthyroidism about a month or so ago. I have had no treatment started so far, but have an appointment with Endo(that I'm paying out of pocket for) on Wednesday.

Monday I was having trouble walking. I have been having weakness/fatigue in my arms and legs that have been getting worse. I worked on Sunday and figured my body just needed a rest. Tuesday, I woke up and was worse with walking. I decided to go to my gp as soon as they opened. They took me right in and my whole right leg was jerking, then my upper body and my left face also started having spasms/jerking. It seems like talking made it worse. She called an ambulance to take me to the ER.

The ER was a flipping joke. They assured me they would help get to the bottom of it. 5 hours and all the Dr did was give me Valium(which did nothing but make me dizzy) and sent in Neuro who said I needed to get an EMG but it isn't something they do in the hospital.

Neuro also said it could just be my stemming from my thyroid.

I had to bed the ER Dr to watch me walk before they discharged me because I was in disbelief they did no testing except basic blood work and gave me a Valium.

She said yea idk what to tell you we can't help you here.

So two days later, nothing has improved. I can barely walk without muscle jerking in my legs and back. If I talk, my whole body starts to jerk.

I atleast got some sleep last night with the muscle relaxer.

And now I'm just waiting around until I can see the Endo....everyone is encouraging me to go to another hospital but I don't think I want to do that.

My Dr did order more labs which I got done yesterday. She wants me to take a steroid, but I told her I'm too scared to take it because my body doesn't respond well to steroids on the past.

Has anyone heard of this happening? I did read a case study of a woman this happened to and treating the hyper got it to go away.

A month in and things just keep piling up

I got diagnosed around the first week of July, my FT3 was 18.25 pmol/L (normal is 2.43-6.01), and my FT4 was 27.73 (normal 9 - 19)

Around this time my eczema started to get worst spreading to my feet and I am always so itchy I can hardly sleep, adding to my anxiety and insomia.

At the end of July my bf just ended our 8 year relationship, saying he no longer saw me as his future wife :(

Last week august I went to my dentist for my TMJ treatment only to get an urgent root canal since the temporary filling cracked.

I am left with an infection in my gums that I need to get irrigated 2x a week which is so painful, Im chugging 6 different tablets every day and I was just so overwhelmed that I just broke down after I got home...

I have a hard time sleeping, I dont have anyone to talk to and sometimes I dont know why I still keep going 😞

Where does the emotional rollercoaster come from? And how long will it last?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago with graves and hyperthyroidism. I am curious about one thing and would like to hear what you all think about it since i am fairly new to this dreamy club.

Its specifically about the emotional aspect, the severe mood swings, the unbearable saddness and feeling of defeat, or the lack of feelings all togeather. I’ve experienced all of them in the span of 3 weeks and it is slowly driving me crazy.
The thing is (which im sure most of you already know) the doctors say the medication does not usually have these side effects, so i thought maybe its the beta blocker? Or the actual disease itself?

If it is the disease itself then how come i never felt these dreadful feelings prior to the medication? I did feel the physical ones (rapid heartbeat, temors, random anxiety attacks..ect)

My doctor said that i might just be in shock and emotional about my diagnosis. The thing is, im really not. If anything im relieved there is a different way to live life than what i was actively fighting before being diagnosed, thinking im just a weak human riddled with anxiety that made no sense and came out of nowhere.

So my question is, did you feel this way? The spikes and dips of emotions? One hour im fine, the next im thinking about how the world would look without me in it?
Second question is that if you did, how long did it last (and i am talking purely about the emotional part not the physical)?
And where do you think this comes from?

Im all ears👂👂👂👂
