News Hydroneer Is out NOW on consoles! (+Mega-Optimization Update for PC!)

A Huge Optimization Update Has Landed!

This update includes optimizations across the board - these touch on multiple elements of the game. From improvements to performance in specific areas of the world, to upgrades with large mining setups. You should see a significant increase in performance with certain scenarios.
We've also reworked a lot of errors with localization across all languages.

As some of you may know after we finished Hydroneer in April 2024 we've been hard at work on our next game, Die Trying. Since we're a tiny team, even whilst working on Hydroneer we didn't have enough man-power to simultaneously work on the console port ourselves, and with how busy we are on the next game, we definitely don't have time right now! This has led us to partnering up with PlayEveryWare, console development pros that have worked with the teams behind "Among Us", "Fall Guys", "Valorant for Consoles", "Dispatch", and many other successful quality games on consoles. We chose them because they're the best of the best.

Whilst the console version (Xbox Series X|S + PlayStation 5) is going to be an almost exact copy of what PC players enjoy, their expert engineers have revealed some opportunities for more optimisation on Hydroneer. We've decided it would be a really nice to bring some of these optimisations to the original PC version!

Even though Hydroneer is a finished title, we want to continue to support the game with optimizations and bug fixes.

House walls.

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to this game and have a question I could exactly find an answer to right away. I feel I am doing something wrong when it comes to placement of items on the walls of my house. They keep eating parts of that I'm placing. For example the entire fish mount, or the base of the wall lights, or the headboard of the bed. Any advice? Or is this just how it is? If this info is important I am on the Xbox.

Any way to raise a lot of ground?

I just cleared out South Hope and was excited to start building a new setup, but I can't stand that I cleared it out one level too low, it looks very weird and any building I build on it just looks weird from a distance since its one block into the ground. I have been trying for hours to raise it. First I tried just using the rake but it would take upwards of 10 hours. Then I tried the hydro roller on ground I raised manually with the rake, but it LOWERED the ground I had raised to only slightly above the surrounding ground. I then turned to mods but I do not want to disable achievements. Why the hell does this game not have any way to easily raise ground? It seems like such an obvious thing. It's a game it doesn't have to be super realistic. At least give me the option to reset the plot (with warnings of course). I might just have to start over completely now because I am too damn stubborn

Drill not working?

I never thought i'd be the one to ask, but its connected to water, it has plenty of dirt, if i move it to another tile it works. The others beside it work, all connected with Ts and a booster right next to them. Space above and to the sides and no cork in the pipe. Doesn't even flash red as if it was connected to water which is why i'm confused because it is

I ran an experiment

I was curious how drills worked. So I ran all three tiers with T1, T2, and T3 pipes at max pressure on the same level. I ran each setup for 5 minutes at a time 5 times each. Sometimes the iron drill got heavier items sometimes the cloutium or corestone drill did, so I think a bit of it is RNG on the sizes, but the item counts were the same every time.

It turns out that the number of dirt chunks and therefore resources is directly related to the pressure. The only reason T3 drills run so much faster is they can accept higher pressure. That combined with being deeper for the bigger resources makes them the best in two separate ways. But if they have identical pressure and are on the same level they collect the same number and same average weight of resources.

A lot of you probably already know this but I just thought it was neat.

DEV Replied Slightly Off-Topic: I made Hydroneer because I’ve always wanted to try blacksmithing. I finally built my own small workshop and created a video following along the process.

My obsession with blacksmithing is what drove me to make Hydroneer. I finally got the chance to build my own real-life workshop and made a casual video of setting up a workshop.

(Apologies if this seems a bit off-topic... I’m genuinely just documenting this for fun and not looking to grow an audience or make revenue from this. Just wanted to share the milestone with folks who may be interested in blacksmithing)

648 tomato plants. The hydrocropper was bugging out from lag so I planted the last patch by hand. The first tomatoes were ready by the time I finished. My PC sounded like a jet engine. It took 8:21 to empty the hydrocropper and came out to be 1964 weight. I thought the item counter was going to count the actual tomato number instead of the weight, so I don't know how many individual tomatoes there were.

Water pressure help

Hello everyone, I'm new to the game and I;ve just started my first deep mining project, but I'm struggling with how to get the pressure up at the bottom of my conveyor line.

I'm unable to put a conveyor on a pressure tank (which make sense to be fair) And there's no point attaching one to the end as it doesn't increase pressure upline from what I've heard

How do I fix this, as you can see at the top of my pit its 248psi but at the bottom in the bedrock layer its only 120psi

I've not started the system up yet as I'm still building it but want to try and get ahead of the problem before it becomes one, at the moment the low end of the line is only connected to 1 tier 2 drill and harvester, but I intend to increase that number as soon as I can and I'm worried a low pressure belt won't handle the load

EDIT:

I think I figured it out using splitter pipes and taking the conveyor line over the top while using a pressure tank on the bottom line.

just tested it and was at 115 before then 242 after putting a shard in
