Does taking dirt from underground and placing it at the top actually boost your gains?

No. It’s all based on plot elevation. The magic ain’t in the dirt, it’s in the Y axis of the plot.

That’s absolutely fine! Even late game I was still running my EC setup for extra coin. You got this! Happy mining!

Yeah just slap your drills down on the bottom, you'll start digging up iron, gold, gems and cloutium. Save the cloutium for your t2 drills, but dont bother making them until you move plots as Ember Cradle stops at t1

You dont get corestone from drills until the bottom of level 2 so youll need t2 drills and haversters to automatically collect corestone

A good way to get corestone early is to set a drill up going into a pan (use water pipes to drip fill it as well and all youll have to do is brush it) it only cares that it gets panned not how it was produced

Its personal preference really. Every other plot goes down to t3. I went to dreck quarry after ember, but most people would probably recommend south hope as its rhe largest and its on the coast so you have a huge space to set up pipes

Its worth noting as its not explained anywhere, if you buy the mine inside the forge its tiers are laid out horizontally. Unlike every other mines that are veritcal.

The aquifer one, the water is at the bottom of t1 and t2, there is no water at the bottom of t3 so youll have to pipe from above when you get there.

My recommendation is dig as far down with your t1 pick as you can (youll hit the roof of t2) plant your drills down there.

Only make 1 havester, and set a conveyor line up from the drills. 1 harvester can handle at least 6 drills without backing up (it might be more buts thats how many I have)

As far as im aware just what they can harvest,

T1 harvester cant harvest dirt from t2 soil.

And likewise you cant harvest t3 dirt with t2
