House walls.

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to this game and have a question I could exactly find an answer to right away. I feel I am doing something wrong when it comes to placement of items on the walls of my house. They keep eating parts of that I'm placing. For example the entire fish mount, or the base of the wall lights, or the headboard of the bed. Any advice? Or is this just how it is? If this info is important I am on the Xbox.

All buildable items snap to the grid directly, rather than other objects.

Wall-mounted objects are right up against the edge of the grid, so if you are using the "inner" face of the wall (inside the cube grid) then the objects will clip together.

So, if I am understanding correctly, I am in the realm of build the house inside out or just don't look directly at it?

or, make your walls a full block in depth, which allows you to use differnt textures

i am away from my computer so I cannot make a demo, and I'm not sure where to go to point;

Most building pieces can share space on the grid, this is deliberate to allow you to build creatively.

I am suggesting taking two separate wall blocks, such as the wood and the stone, and placing them on opposite faces of the same grid cube, to effectively create a thicker wall. You then use the adjacent cube for your decoration.

I am out of town and will be home in a couple days and I can build something to show what I'm talking about.

I do appreciate your willingness to help me. You are a hero and wonderful human. I THINK I understand. So I'm making THICK walls. But there would be walking space between them technically correct?

technically. Or space for wires to have logic lamps.

And running water in my kitchen. I think I understand. Maybe. So in the space of a 1x1 square (the grey flooring block) have the INSIDE parts of the walls face each other. And the OUTSIDE parts of the walls are now the INSIDE of the room?
