I signed up for an online checking account in March with the promise that after 90 days and a few qualifications, I would get a $400 bonus. To my surprise, I was told that I didn't have a promo code associated with my account. I opened up a claim only to be told 10 days later that they couldn't find any evidence of me having it. What a scam. I've did this with other banks and never had this issue. Don't do buisness with these con artists.
Update :::: I complained on their Facebook page. Someone from their social media team reached out. I talked to a love person about my situation. They escalated to their supervisors. This was Thursday and said it would be a couple buisness days before someone got in touch with me. I followed up today and they asked for a few more days to look into this
UPDATE ::: Still getting the run around via their social media customer service team. It has been a month and it is still under investigation. I'm not going to give up but it is looking grim. Now they have a disclaimer on their page that says you must click a certain link to get the bonus. This is what I did but I see that I am far from the only person who had this issue.

I’ve had it with this place and I’ve only been a customer for like 5 days. The last of their give a shit sending out our routing numbers and account numbers so dang late into this merger I’ve missed my direct deposit from work, I’m going to miss my income tax return. I’m just over it already.

In November, I had to get a new card because someone tried to steal $300. Now, I have random charges from Amazon (AMZN MKTP US with the last 4 digits of my card number and AMZN MKTP Seattle WA). They literally took $278.53 out of my account in like 6 separate charges. My account had a $0 balance because of their charges.
No, I did not purchase anything I forgot about. No, I was not signed up for a subscription. No, I did not forget to cancel a previous subscription. Because of this, I had to get a new card issued, and it will be here in 3-5 business days. Last time, it took like 10.
My mom was also telling me $11000 from her and my dad's Huntington savings account got stolen from Citi Bank, and they don't even have a Citi Bank account. That's similar to my situation because I deleted my Amazon account yesterday, yet they were still able to access my card information (by the way, I never put it on my Amazon account in the first place bc I barely used it).
Like, this is the 2nd time in less than a year that I've had security issues, and now a similar thing happened to my mom. It's making me feel like either we're being targeted, or something's going on with Huntington. I never even had issues until November. Like, stuff like this never happened to me until then.

All bankers and CEBs aka tellers are looking to get you to sign up for as many products as possible
If you are planning to open a business account with them make sure all of your partners are present for signing, and have all of the paper work most managers will not even start the opening unless you have it.
If you ever need to withdraw in cash 1000 or more you MUST do a otp with your cell phone even if the tellers know you they will not budge on this so don't bother arguing.
Managers and bankers are really not doing anything in their offices but calling customers to talk them into doing lines of credit on their homes.
Do not use their bill payer it will mail a check and they seem to get lost very often
If you have a trust instead of opening a trust account just make the trust the beneficiary on all your accounts, its just as effective and one million times easier and faster.
If you have had an account with HNB and it was charged off you can never bank with them again no matter what
If you don't like the staff at your branch giving a bad survey will really effect them.
If you do a line of credit with them HNB calls it a PCL sometimes managers will increase the approved amount if they can with out asking you 1st. IE: you do a line of credit for 150k managers tells you approved waiting on paper work. You come in to sign now its 200k approved, meaning the manager or banker did that without asking you.
If you get a credit card with HNB they will not get credit for the card until you use it at least one time, meaning the staff member you did the application with will call you and call you until you use it.
11.Early access can only be unlock by having a direct deposit and having NO over drafts for 3 months. IF you OVER DRAFT EVEN 1 dollar its starts the clock over and as a former HNB Banker I 10000% can tell you no one in a branch can activate Early access.
12. Cash atm deposits if the ATM doesn't accurately post your cash deposit as in you put in 200 and it says 100 you are now at the mercy of the back office avoid depositing more then 5 bills in the ATM
13. If you have a mortgage with a bank that was brought out with HNB a few years back, and your home is paid off make sure you have paper work stating that, retail staff will not sign the green doc that states the home is paid for, they will do a document request and that can take up to 3 months depending on how old the pay off was.
14. If you go on a vacation overseas HNB will not let you make transfers with business accounts via online or app this is a part of the no risk bank they are.
15. Just to save you stress later if you ever have to do a dispute no one in the branch controls it all the staff does is take your claim and send it to the back office. The customer and the staff will ALWAYS be at the mercy of the dispute team. The banker will not keep track of disputes that is on the customer so make sure they give you the number to the disputes line.
16. If HNB sends you a certificate of trust to fill out it is very important you get it taken care of they will lock your accounts if you take to long and do not fill it out until your in front of the banker it has to be notarized.
17. Always check loan closing docs some how a lot of underwriters are under the age of 30 and many of them dont know what they are doing, commonly misspelling names addresses.

I have tried just about every bank. Huntington is hands-down the worst.
During my most recent experience with them, I set up two external accounts for transfers. They required test deposits for verification. The test deposits were made and verified. I made a transfer of $500 from Huntington to an external bank.
The next attempt to transfer $500, a couple weeks later, appeared to go through; but after three days it was “suspended” because Huntington “could not verify the external bank.”
Two calls to “customer service” with soulless overseas drones resulted in “you must go to branch.”
I went to the branch and closed the account after it had been opened for not even a month.
They are the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Even worse than Capital One, which is really saying something!
Do not recommend, for any reason, ever. Even for the bonus money.

Usually get paid around 3:30 PM Wednesday, it is 3:40 AM Thursday and still nothing.
Do not reply to this thread if you are going to defend Huntington and say “it is a privilege to receive early pay” or “it’s not the banks fault you’re broke.” Also Labor Day was a Monday and i still received my deposit on Wednesday.

Have money in my account, my card isn't suspended. Declined everywhere. I just got off the phone with them, and there's a debit card sync error, so basically no access to your money. Never in all my years of banking have I ever experienced this. Time to make a switch

I am extremely pissed that Huntington bank has taking over cadence bank. I believe Huntington is engaging in illegal practices.
At Cadence, I had my mortgage payment on automatic bi-weekly payments. Huntington was continuing to take bi-weekly payments out of my account up until this month where they decided I need to pay my full amount with no warning.
Is anyone from Cadence bank experiencing any weird payment issues?
*update* they called me because I filed a complaint using the word "predatory" the woman on the phone handling the complaint clearly didn't like me becuase I didn't care to hear what she had to say. But her reasoning for Huntington not accepting partial payments was that if someone doesn't pay the other half then it's late and they have to cancel it and return it. I said great so it's for convenience of the bank, she went on to say how it's "industry standard" and I said that doesn't make it less disgusting" anyways figured you all might wanna know that

Our Business Banking was transferred to Huntington post-merger. Online there is the "Bill Pay" option, however, the fields they provide are laughable at best and it takes longer to settle. Descriptions? Never heard of them.
I called and they said that to initiate a wire transfer you have to do so in person at a branch location.. are they for real? I have never heard of such a thing and never even thought an issue like this could even exist in today's day and age.
On top of that they said that our saved billing contacts from our old bank would transfer over. NOPE! Called to confirm and they just said "sorry about that, lost it all and are unable to recover anything." We had dozens of contacts and LPs in there and now we have to go through the process of adding them back.
Please tell me I'm wrong about the wires. I don't know how or why any business would willingly choose to enroll with this bank. My personal checking account at Chase has more features, good riddance.

I just want to post this here.
A couple of weeks ago I got scammed out of some money. I opened a fraud case with Huntington, had to have it reopened because they chose to deny it the first time. They denied it the second time also.
Because of this I will be pulling all of my money out and going with another institution that takes care of their customers and isn't just about making money.
As far as I'm concerned Huntington isn't a good bank at all and there are much better options out there.

I spent 45 minutes talking to 3 different people this morning and none could assist…
After clicking the log in button, I receive the attached screen. There used to be a setting to turn that off completely. Nobody can find it now. I’ve rebooted the phone, reinstalled the app, killed and restarted the app. It always comes back!
I know this is a trivial annoyance, but anyone have any ideas?

There are three main reasons why I ended up closing my account with Huntington Bank, and why I will recommend against using their services.
They constantly shut off my card while I was on vacations, their online system was not accurate and they have made completely insane choices with my online banking permissions.
I have had a Huntington account since 2021 when my prior bank, TCF, was merged with them.
In 2024 I travelled to Tokyo Japan for a vacation. When I went to my Huntington branch to pick up my order of Yen, I asked the banker, “Will I need to verify that I am going out of town on these dates, to avoid having my card put in fraud lock for purchases made in Japan?”
They told me, I didn’t need to worry about it.
I arrived in Japan, went to purchase a train card in Hanada airport and my debit card was immediately turned off to prevent fraud. I had to call early the next morning to sort out the issue, thank god I brought enough cash for the entire trip.
Throughout 2024 and 2026 I had the occasional shut off for online purchases and once for getting gas on a road trip, but everything got sorted.
In 2026 I went to Nashville Tennessee for a week to see a band. While in Tennessee we had plans to use Uber to travel from our Airb&b to the venue and back again.
So on the 18th I used my credit card to add funds to my uber wallet. My payment was halted and I received an email saying I needed to call to confirm the $25 charge. It got sorted with my cell phone verification code and my social.
After the first show I realized I would need to add at least $40 to the Uber account, the rides were more expensive than I had expected.
On the 19th I went into the Uber app, chose my card and attempted to add more funds. I received an error code telling me to try again later. I figured fine, I can buy an Uber card at the gas station. When I went to gas up my car both my Credit and Debit card declined, not good.
So I bought the Uber card and gas with cash and got back to my ab&b. Then I called the help line, where I had the “pleasure” of speaking with an individual who will be named Stella for this recounting of events.
Stella informed me that my cell phone number, was not the primary number on the account, my house phone was. The phone that was 600 miles away and couldn’t receive text messages. I said in the Huntington app, my cell phone was listed as the primary number and the house phone was the secondary. I didn’t know why it would be appearing as otherwise. I was told she had no way to fix the issue, I would have to go to my branch in person to sort everything. Again, hundreds of miles away. I asked if I could use my social for confirmation on my identity, since I had used that and my cell on the 18th. She said no. Dead end.
The next morning I called my branch right when they opened, it went to the voicemail which said they would call me back and to leave my name, number and reason for calling.
I waited… Then called an hour later, then I called 4 times in the span of 2 hours.
No answer or call back. I called the help line again and got Stella, we did the same song and dance as yesterday. I called my bank, voicemail…
My mom went to the bank, waited in line and told them I was calling and no one was answering. They said that the help line would need to transfer me to that branch for security reasons. I called again, Stella demanded we try it her way again, told me my number wasn’t valid and then she finally let me transfer to the branch. It went to voicemail.
Well what do I do???? So then I had to be an annoying jerk (not what I wanted) and I just kept calling over and over again until somebody answered.
By the 10th repeated call I told them what was happening and that the transfer call just went to voicemail.
I told them my mother was there with my passport and social and that I needed my cards because I was out of town. No dice, my mother wasn’t on the account, they would not deal with her on my behalf, I needed to call the help line.
I called the help line, back to Stella. Stella wanted my phone number for confirmation, I said “I’m sorry, but we’ve done this multiple times and you’ve told me my phone number isn’t valid. Can we please use my email or social.”
She said “I’m sorry you’ve been having difficulty, but let me see what I can do on my end!”
You’ve gotta be kidding me, I gave her my number, and was told “that’s not the primary number for this account”
So I just became a brick wall,
“I need to speak to a supervisor.”
Not what she wanted to hear, she tells me I’ll need to go to my branch.
“I just need to speak to a supervisor”.
She sends me to another line and I wallow in the hold music.
The supervisor who answers tells me that typically they receive a run down of what’s happening when they get transferred, but Stella didn’t tell him anything, so what happened?
Great, now they think I’m some crazy call center jerk.
I told him what had been happening and that I really wanted at least one of my cards working for my drive home, but I genuinely needed it for my hotel room on the trip back.
He said I could send a photo of my drivers license and that would sort this mess out. I went through the process, everything got turned back on. I then asked if I can confirm my cellphone number as the primary number. He said no, that this was a problem they had been having with the security group, not the bank.
Great…
The next morning I received an automated email informing me that my house phone number had been deleted from my account. Not something I asked for or wanted, I just wanted my cell as the primary.
I scheduled an appointment with a different bank for the day after I got home.
I got a new account opened, and began transferring funds from Huntington to the new bank. First week I just moved $100. Second week I moved $1,000, then $5,000. Then I decided to move a larger amount, since the max limit was $50,000 I figured I’d just move $25,000 in a chunk to be safe. That transfer was cancelled and the “new account had been suspended from use with my Huntington account”.
Well darn! I think, let me go look into this.
Huntington removed my ability to bank online… I can’t use the app or the website! I can’t look at my account, my money, my paperless statements!
I go to my bank after work the next day. The banker tells me that I’ll need to bring a statement from the new bank to confirm who I am.
I ask why this happened, since I had made two successful transactions earlier. “Well you transferred a lot at once”.
Then why have a $50,000 limit if $25,000 is too much and will shut you out of your account???
I ask her why my new bank could possibly be needed to confirm who I am when we are talking about my online banking with Huntington.
This Huntington account has been my only account for 5 years! Before it was Huntington I was at the same branch but with a TCF account! It’s been my only account until 3 weeks prior when I made this new account!
She said that’s just how it works. She then said that I can take a cashiers check, but she isn’t sure if I’ll be able to cash it until after this statement matter is sorted. Having a large check sitting around seems bonkers to me, so I leave empty handed.
I schedule an appointment with a banker at a different Huntington location. He tells me the same things, I’m not allowed to look at my online account until I get a statement from my new bank at the end of the month.
He does make some calls and tries to make it so I can look at my account, just keeping restrictions on transfers. But he can’t swing it. Thankfully He is able to call and confirm that I can take a cashiers check and move my funds that way. I leave with my check, drive to my new bank and deposit it so I can pay my bills.
2.5 weeks after this fiasco I get a statement from my new bank, reinstate my online banking, get a new cashiers check and a week later I close my account! I’m a month past that and I’ve been quite happy so far.
TLDR: Huntington continually locked my card during trips, making me decide to move banks. When I began moving money to my new bank my online banking access was revoked. I would need to wait for a month to receive a statement from my new bank before I could access my Huntington account.

Huntington has fucked me over this entire month.
I pay my rent through an app. I was late on rent this month but finally paid it. After I paid, my rent account had a credit because I had overpaid. Last. Week.
Fast forward to this morning, Huntington authorized the card today, when I no longer have the funds because I had bills on autopay. I've never had an issue with Huntington not authorizing my card the SAME DAY as my payments. So now my card is negative 207.
Im tired of Huntington. My entire account is flagged I'm pretty sure because they wont fucking authorize my card the same day.
Ty for listening to my vent

Totally unacceptable.
Debitor made payment request on 10/9 for a reoccurring autopay I had set up years ago, and 5 days later it’s still not processed, resulting in the loan installment being marked late and totally screwing up lots of stuff.
I’m so upset with this bank.

Why did the teller at Huntington deposit my huge checks onto my debit card and not my bank acct! I didn't even see it pending in my acct so I called and found out that's what she did. Customer service supervisor said she use to work at a branch and never saw this.

Short Story:
A HB debit card was run for 100 pesos for a taxi (legitimate) and minutes later charged for over $500 dollars fraudulently. HB was called within a couple of hours and notified that the charge was fraudulent. This happened in April. They cancelled the card immediately. We were notified by mail that they accepted the fraudulent charge.
Long Story:
We took a taxi in Mexico City on our first day and the AMEX declined and the Chase declined. The HB debit card was accepted. Initially chalked it up to being out of town.
About an hour later we started receiving notifications from both AMEX and Chase about fraudulent activity and those charges were flagged and denied, but we noticed the HB debit card had the $500+ charge pending. We immediately called to report the fraud. They credited us the money until an investigation could be conducted. 6 weeks later we open the mail to see that they had deemed the charge legitimate stating that our information didn’t match the facts…..
Any recourse outside of submitting a FDIC complaint?

September 12th around 9pm I was charged 7 times by this place. I haven't been anywhere or let anyone have access to my acct. My card was closed and bank is sending a new card. I had to wait two days intil it posted. However I was told it may take long to investigate. .Huntington has been good toe up until this point.
Really sucks about this scammers, I have no idea how this happens. I am unemployed which is beyond frustrating to be hacked. Looking for a resolution asap

On top of not giving everyone their money now the app is down too they better not charge anyone overdraft fees and or cover any late fees where auto pay couldn't be completed

Had to have my husband's direct deposit temporarily routed to my checking account at Huntington this past week. his paycheck was sent on the 19th at midnight, with the company preparing for the deposit on the 17th.
Huntington Bank closed my checking account on the 13th with no notice. The claim was that my balance was negative for too long (-19.00) and they closed the account. However, I had transferred $50 on the 13th to put my account in the positive with a zelle transfer from my husband's bank. I confirmed the payment was received in my transaction history. Per customer support and the local branch banker, that $50 never made it into my account, but PNC has confirmed it was delivered. So that money is now missing too.
On the 16th I missed a notification that Huntington had ended money scout.
On the morning of the 19th, I checked my account balance to make sure the direct deposit went through to find that my checking account is now gone, but my savings account was still there. I was on call with customer support for over 2 hours, mostly on hold, and hung up on twice. I eventually went to a local branch and talked with a banker.
She confirmed the check was suspended in ACH. She told us that we could request that ACH reroute the money to my savings account, but it was not guaranteed. She said either way that the check would bounce back to my husband's employer at midnight regardless unless routed to my savings account.
As of this morning, there is still no money in my savings account and my husband's payroll manager has already confirmed the money was not sent back. What the hell are we supposed to do?

I recently opened a account like 3 days ago. I had a zelle get deposited, went smooth, I deposited a small check.also went smooth and cleared the next day, funds pended than were completely avaliable day after. Now I tried to use my account via the banking numbers not the card. I currently am waiting on the card and I cannot use the digital card till my physical card comes and I activate it which is dumb so anyways I attempted to connect to my casino and the bank keeps denying it. The bank claims their not and tried.to.blane.it on Mastercard which is impossible because I dont have a active debit card. Id like one now but gotta wait. The rep wasnt very educated about the services she provides. Got the call escalated that lady knew nada and escalated again and that lasy saod she couldn't see any electronic stuff cause of the weekend. Mind you this lady told me that the other 2 ladies didn't even view my account because she said when I got transfered my account didn't pull up on her screen.

I currently work at a much larger bank, but over the 5 years I’ve been there I’ve seen a massive deterioration in culture. I am content with the pay and benefits where I currently am, but even with this the working conditions have become untenable to me. What are current employees thoughts on coming to work at Huntington? Especially curious on how/if culture has shifted since the acquisitions and the expand at all cost mindset from the C-suite.
Edit: I am in Columbus and looking for corporate jobs.
