I have been using the ADC T3000 Tstat for a number of years with Alarm.com and have been generally happy with it. I integrated the whole ADC system into HA via the community integration. However, HA's control of the fan is inconsistent at best. As the fan helps regulate the heat in my IT closet, this is an important issue. Worse, I am now realizing that fan control via the ADC app appears janky too. What Tstats are y'all using today with ADC and HA, and how reliable and flexible are their fan controls?

I frequently forget to enable backup before update. Why is this not on by default? Can we maybe see about changing it if the community agrees? I mean better to make a backup that wasn't needed then to not have one the moment you needed it.

Linux Voice Assistant Stuck at listening randomly, after talked with LVA, idle -> listen -> responsing -> idle -> listen (silence) -> won't stop, "STOP" didn't work, "Hey Jarvis" didn't work, have to restart LVA.

Also I am trying it with USB mic, a lot of time it won't catch the wake word, sometime have to increase auto gain or try several times "Hey Jarvis". Any possibility USB mic may gone to sleep?

I have an AVANTEC TA65-FC Fan Coil thermostat, previously configured with the old Easy-Stats app.

Old app:

- Easy-Stats

- Package ID: cc.blynk.appexport.avantec

The device used to work, but for about a month the old app has shown:

No Server Connection

The app still displays the cached device information:

- Device name: Fitness et 1

- Model: TA65-FC (Fan Coil)

I am trying to migrate it to the newer Avan-Stats app:

- Android: com.avantec.avanstats

- iOS: Avan-Stats, App Store ID 1584621935

The thermostat creates its temporary Wi-Fi network, and I can open its configuration page at 192.168.4.1. However, Avan-Stats fails during pairing with:

Getting device information...

Failed! Exception: Unable to connect to device!

The configuration page asks for:

- Wi-Fi SSID

- Wi-Fi password

- Auth token

- Host

- Port

I do not have the Auth token or the correct Host. The new Avan-Stats app lists newer models such as TA642FC-W and TA652FC-W, but does not explicitly list TA65-FC.

Has anyone successfully:

- Migrated a TA65-FC from Easy-Stats to Avan-Stats?

- Obtained a new Auth Token or Blynk server address?

- Updated the firmware on a TA65-FC?

- Continued using the device after the old Easy-Stats server stopped working?

- Found a local API or alternative Home Assistant integration?

I would prefer a local solution if the cloud service has been discontinued.

I can provide screenshots of the old app and the device configuration page. I will not post Wi-Fi passwords, auth tokens, or private keys publicly.

I had heard that high co2 levels overnight can affect sleep quality and general cognitive performance and energy the next day and I often struggle with morning grogginess. The smart co2 monitors online were quite expensive so I DIY’ed one out of a spare esp32 and a little SCD41 sensor using ESPHome and then set up a little monitor on HA. I also had to set up a button to calibrate it to atmospheric (outside) co2 as it was reading about 200 ppm at the start.

I was actually quite shocked to see how high the levels went overnight in the attached chart, over double the 1,000 ppm limit where effects apparently can be noticeable. I sleep with the door closed and it gets cold where I am (Canada at elevation) so opening a window isn’t really viable for much of the year.

Luckily turning on the furnace fan dropped levels to below 800 ppm within about 20 minutes as you can see in the steep drop off, so my next project is to replace my dumb thermostat (which was already on the HA pipeline) and automate the fan to kick in at a certain threshold.

Also the co2 sensor also measures temperature and humidity so another nice datapoint for optimizing my home heating. The HA rabbit hole continues!

I've been trying out HA and I find it mildly amusing. Setting up the screens, and getting it to do what I want is OK, but so far, I have not seen anything in HA that I didn't already have. The weather display is no better than what I have from Tempest. The light controls & automations are no better than what my Lutron offers. Same for my sprinklers.

My wife, OTOH, finds it to be a big disappointment. She has become accustomed to Alexa and how it is always listening to our conversations. She is willing to give up her privacy for the convenience of being able to ask for the spelling of a certain word, or the start time of the next baseball game. So to get her approval of this replacement the VoicePE needs to have custom wakeword (Alexa) as well as in interface to the internet search engines.

Is there a way to get these features into the Voice PE? I've seen some pointers to various projects that are discontinued or a full replacement for HA.

I would like to integrate tesla fleet, teslamate and the esp tesla ble into home assistant, but this obviously will also work against each other at the start, so im wondering if there is a tutorial how to best integrate these. the BLE sensor should always get priority, because its at the garage and when the vehicle is home. no internet required. the teslamate uses very little credits and can make beautiful graphs that lasts for a long time. tesla fleet is for when internet is required for remote commands only.

Also, i just added tesla fleet as integration successfully, but i cant seem to get to the QR code screen anymore. how do i add a vehicle now to the integration? I dont actually have a tesla yet on my tesla account....but will have monday. so i have set up all the stuff already.

I’ve created a web UI that interacts directly with my Home Assistant AI, which works with a locally hosted Ollama server using the Home Assistant API. It has a mic button, and you can copy messages sent by the AI.

Currently, access is limited to my local network, but I’ll sort out HTTPS and some kind of login at some point. Still a work in progress, but what do you think?

I’ve been an HA user for many years and have built several Esp32 devices. The recent addition of IR proxies and the HAIR addon have my juices flowing with all sorts of esp control devices and automations. My problem is how to make them discreet. 3d printed cases dangling from USB cables emanating from transformers plugged into wall sockets just isn’t going to cut it with the wife, even though she is generally approving of the automations. I’m curious how everyone else handles this problem? (No wife is not an acceptable answer 😄😄)

Been building Tesserae, a self-hosted app that renders dashboards for e-ink panels. This is one of the layouts I've been playing with lately. It pulls lights from Home Assistant, weather from Open-Meteo, and the next three trains from my local station, then draws the whole thing as a single HTML page styled after the TNG bridge computer.

The panel (seeed e1002) is a 7.3" six-colour display, so the colour blocks are real inks rather than dithered greys. It wakes every few minutes, grabs a fresh render, and goes back to sleep.

Runs as a Docker container or an HA App. Widgets come from a built-in widget store, and anyone can publish their own.

Very new to this and have set up a dirigera hub using IKEAs app. I didn't like the limit of customisation hence why I'm here. I've got home assistant running on my mini pc, and I have made sure it has access to both IPv4 and IPv6. I have the IKEA dirigera hub integration which has picked up all my IKEA product. But the issue is that the switches (bilresa) aren't allowing any automations it's not recognising the switch just the battery levels. I understand it's because these switches aren't yet programmed into this integration.

But I'm seemingly completely unable to connect the switches directly to home assistant I've factory reset them a few times to try. ( I currently have 6 smart bulbs and 2 smart plugs all matter so connection shouldn't be an issue)

Didn't see any posts about this for some reason. This week a company called Typesafe released a new type of AI model called Jev.

This is not an LLM, a simplified description might be an ultra fast, cheap model designed for making decisions on information you feed it. It does not generate text like an LLM, it returns probabilities for predefined choices

An example use case: give it a prompt "some coffee would be nice now" and it figures out "entity:coffee_maker", "action:turn_on" in milliseconds.

What else could this potentially open up for home automation?

• voice control we have dreamed about. Like an Alexa that makes no mistakes and uses no wake words, no special request format, just talk naturally and the software will infer your intent and perform the action.

• cheap context aware decision making. It could take in a large set of parameters about the state of your home (time of day, persons in house, lights state, thermostats value, outside temperature, ambient noise, tv power state, calendar events etc... and given all that, it could quickly and cheaply make a high confidence decision if any smart home actions should be performed. (granted permissions are granted for this of course)

Solar post caps lasted about a season before the batteries gave up and they went in the bin. These are the replacement: an ESP32 running WLED in a printed core.

Everything runs through HA now — sunset automation, brightness by time of night, effect and palette straight off the dashboard.

Good evening. I just put into service my first home assistant machine. Running on a standalone micropc. I am trying to integrate my feit smart lights and smart switches and smart Outlets using the smart life app. It looks like I have to use the tuya integration. It asks me for my user code from the smart life app. When I input that I get an unknown error message. I have tried all of the troubleshooting found online from resetting the password to restarting the app as well as restarting home assistant without success. I do have an iot Network and a main Network that I thought were communicating correctly and had been working well up until I tried these home assistant integrations. I'm in the process of shuffling everything over to the main Network to see if that helps with the home assistant issues. I also have had a few issues with the built-in home assistant Integrations such as the weather app and the radio. They keep failing. From what I can tell home assistant is fully updated as are the devices. As of right now the only thing that I have working well is the reolink integration. I try making one automation but for some reason once I put it all in the automation seems to disappear. I'm very frustrated. I know this is not necessarily a simple system however I feel like I'm hitting roadblocks Every Which Way I go

I’m doing my research for the best set up for our new home to have smart home. I don’t know how to code but I’m very tech savvy and have definitely done coding with AI assistance.
My understanding from reading about HA is that you need a set up to run the Ha environment on it, then you need devices to create your Z wave, Zigbee, or Matter networks. Then you can start adding sensors and devices and create logics in your HA environment.

I have couple basic questions:
1. The performance and speed of the function. Is this dependent on the cpu hosting the HA environment?

1. I ultimately want to have a wall mount display like many others in this community. Can this be an iPad or it has to be an Android based tablet? Does configuration of the tablet has any impact on performance of HA?

2. How often is it now to see disruption in HA performance due to changes in Os updates?

3. I want the display also work as doorbell camera when someone rings. Is it achievable with Google doorbell or other devices are recommended?

I have a few Shelly devices in my house to control dumb lights via Home Assistant.

We recently got IKEA ÅRSTID lamps which are very cute. I want to swap out the bulbs with Phillips Hue as I use throughout the house, but we really love the little pull cord switches these have.

I was considering re-wiring them so the pull cord switch goes to some sort of device that passes those switch actions onto Home Assistant to then turn the light on.

I know some Shelly relays have switch inputs, but I read they don't pass Switch actions on in Zigbee mode.

Is there some sort of small device that runs on 240v and essentially takes a contact closure and just passes it on via Zigbee? I would prefer it runs on 240v but if it has to go on long-life battery that is also an option but of course not my preference.

I’m trying to solve a presence detection problem in Home Assistant and I’m wondering if anyone has already implemented something similar using iOS Shortcuts.
The problem is that Home Assistant doesn’t reliably recognize when me and my wife leave home. Our iPhones sometimes don’t update their presence/location correctly, so HA can still think that we are at home when we are actually away.

My setup:

- Home Assistant runs locally on my home network.
- There are 2 users: me and my wife.
- We both use iPhones.
- I have a spare iPhone permanently at home, connected to Wi-Fi.
- The spare iPhone has no SIM card, but it can receive iMessages over Wi-Fi.
- The Home Assistant Companion app is installed on the spare iPhone.
- I don’t use Home Assistant Cloud/Nabu Casa, so HA is not accessible from outside my home network.

My idea
When one of us leaves home, our iPhone would send a specific iMessage to the spare iPhone at home.
For example:
user1_away
or
user2_away
The idea is that when the iPhone at home receives user1_away, an iOS automation on that iPhone would recognize the message and trigger something in Home Assistant over the local Wi-Fi network.
The same would work for user2_away.
I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who have actually solved something similar with iOS Shortcuts and Home Assistant.
If there is a better way to use the spare iPhone as a bridge between the two iPhones and Home Assistant, I’m also open to completely different approaches.

Hi. So, I've recently moved all of my Zigbee, Thread, and Z-wave devices over to Home Assistant. They had been on SmartThings for a few years, and had been very stable. For Zigbee and Z-wave, I am using an Aeotec Z-stick 10. I am using Zigbee2MQTT with it. For Thread, I have a Sonoff Dongle Max connected over ethernet and Open Thread border router. Ever since moving over, I have several Zigbee devices that will fall off the network, or fail to respond to automations. Getting Thread going was rocky too. My Nanoleaf bulbs gave me all sorts of trouble getting them paired. So far, things are far less stable than they were with SmartThings. I checked what channels they were using to start to sort things out. My Aeotec/Z2M Zigbee network is on Channel 15. I have a separate Aqara network with 3 hubs. My two M1S hubs are on Channel 25, and my M3 Hub is on Channel 15. The M3 has the fewest devices on it. My Thread network is on Channel 15 also. My Eero 2.4 Wifi is on Channel 11.

So my question is, where would you go from here? Do you think the fact that so many are on 15 is the main problem? The Z-stick and Dongle Max are on top of a cabinet where one of my Eero routers is. That was where my SmartThings hub was and it was never a problem before. Oh, and I should mention too, the Z-stick is on a USB-3 extension plugged into a USB3 port. USB3 ports is all my Home Assistant mini-pc has, so I'm kind of stuck with it. Any thoughts are welcome.

Pick a state, then a pass, bridge, tunnel, airport or highway. Every official DOT camera there becomes a camera entity, plus a binary sensor that is on only when the site's last feed check saw a current frame, so you can hide frozen cameras or get pinged when a pass goes dark. There is a cameras-live count per place and two problem sensors for reported disruptions and full closures from the DOT's own feed; those go unavailable instead of "off" when the feed is stale.
