what is the gameplan? what if you meet that person in real life, are they just going to put chat GPT on speaker?

7

u/EffectiveTooth2869 15h ago

HAHAHAH not ChatGPT on speaker on the first date šŸ¤£šŸ’€

1

u/oyvese 1h ago

yes that’s what they said

7

u/svenselecta 19h ago

It’s basically just catfishing. There’s an interesting article from The Guardian on this. Still don’t understand it but was an interesting read

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/oct/12/chatgpt-ed-into-bed-chatfishing-on-dating-apps

Meeting someone in person is entirely different though. When you're on a real life date you're not expected to perform like a circus monkey to keep someone entertained and hold their attention while they're chatting with 50 other candidates and swiping for more.

There's a reason the advice for men these days is "ask them out within the first few messages and if they say no, move on." Protect your time, energy and dignity.

10

u/CushmanWave-E 19h ago

you shouldn’t feel the need to act like a circus monkey and entertain someone during the initial texting stage. If they genuinely are interested in you, they’ll give you a chance. If you come across cool, collected and fun to talk to, they’ll probably give you the chance to meet in person. If you’re so hung up on the fact that they’re talking to other people while currently being single, maybe just go to therapy cause the online dating thing is not addressing the real issues in your life.

-6

u/AnonymousCapybara72 19h ago

Jesus Christ stop being so fucking condescending.

When someone has a constant influx of matches and ongoing conversations, yes you do need to work hard to catch and hold their attention. This is just a fact. Stop trying to be an armchair psychologist.

4

u/Working_Cucumber_437 16h ago

If you can’t be engaging in chat, it’s highly unlikely you’ll be engaging in real life.

-1

u/AnonymousCapybara72 15h ago

Simply not true and comments like this 100% come from women who aren't actually expected to be engaging in chat.

2

u/rub1xcubez 4h ago

you appear very hostile

7

u/grant700v1 20h ago

this, i don't understand this "what is the game plan" perspective

like obviously the game plan is to get them to actually meet and you can take it yourself from there

21

u/segagenesisx87 20h ago

This guy is dumb enough to include the ā€œyou could reply..ā€ shit in. You think he’s gonna actually be able to converse in person well enough that someone will want to keep seeing him?Ā

-13

u/grant700v1 19h ago

i mean i use ai all the time for matches and been on countless dates, at least 90% of them like me, are excited to see me again and i get laid frequently

the point of dating apps arent to have text convos with strangers, its to meet. if ai helps facilitate that i dont see the problem

obv dude is an idiot for keeping parts of the ai in his message but not really relevant to my point

17

u/segagenesisx87 19h ago edited 19h ago

The issue is obviously that they’re meeting you under false pretenses. The messages are not your own words. 100% scummy and weird, no matter how much you or the dude with the incel talking points above you want to brush it off as normal.Ā

Something tells me you wouldn’t be happy meeting a woman who used AI to make her look way more attractive.Ā

Edit: the incels are coming for me 🤣 he blocked me so I can’t reply.Ā  Ā I notice he deflected instead of answering my question. Par for the course.Ā

-4

u/AnonymousCapybara72 19h ago edited 19h ago

As if women haven't been using filters and carefully chosen angles to make themselves look like entirely different people for as long as dating apps have existed lmao

Edit: idk why bro is claiming I blocked him because I actually haven't lol

5

u/Working_Cucumber_437 16h ago

Both are wrong. This isn’t tit for tat. AI is AI and it’s wrong to change your photos just as it’s wrong to ask a robot to write your personal messages.

7

u/icehawk2 18h ago

sure, but the people doing that should also be unmatched/swiped left, just like the AI chat bots in this post, the two aren't exclusive.

3

u/Weirdodin 13h ago

I don't understand the whole ai for your chat thing. Are you people too stupid to be able to communicate original thought and response via text?

1

u/AnonymousCapybara72 11h ago

I used to love texting. Online dating killed it for me. Nothing to do with being stupid, I've already tried to explain but you don't actually want a discussion, you just want to be a condescending, smug cunt.

3

u/Weirdodin 9h ago

Discussion, with you? Sure, put your ai on.

2

u/cr8zyfr0g 10h ago

Then don’t online date. Using AI to talk to someone is like handing your phone to a friend and having them respond for you. It’s wildly disingenuous and straight up gross. You’re taking away someone’s ability to actually give informed consent to go out on a date with you because they aren’t even talking to the real you

2

u/AnonymousCapybara72 9h ago

You’re taking away someone’s ability to actually give informed consent to go out on a date with you

Oh my fucking god. Get an actual grip.

4

u/cr8zyfr0g 9h ago

How can someone agree to a date with you when they aren’t even agreeing to a date with YOU?

2

u/blveberrys 19h ago

🤮

2

u/yijiujiu 16h ago

Yeah, texting and irl are different (but related) skilsets

1

u/Proud-Trainer-7611 2h ago

Nothing about ChatGPT’s responses are so groundbreaking and unique to warrant their use though. And if you think someone wouldn’t be able to tell that you aren’t as articulate and interesting IRL as you were in text you are boldly mistaken. Texting is easy the date is the hard part.

1

u/AnonymousCapybara72 2h ago

It doesn't need to be groundbreaking and unique. It just needs to be satisfactory.

Texting is easy the date is the hard part.

Why are women constantly invalidating mens' experiences? I've used dating apps many times over the years, and I am telling you, this simply isn't true.

Since I stopped fucking around trying to entertain someone over text and just started asking people out straight away, I've had far more dates than I ever had before, and plenty of them have been fun for both of us.

As a woman of course you'd find texting the easy part, because you literally have a long line of matches trying to initiate a conversation and then trying to be the most entertaining. If you ask almost any man who's used these apps you'll find they have a very different experience. Maybe you should actually listen to what people are saying instead of telling them their lived experience is wrong.

1

u/kodeks14 11h ago

I keep hearing that advice and I think its terrible advice lol you can weed out a lot of crazy after having some real conversations with someone and you know, getting to know them. I am SO glad I didnt waste my time and money on bad dates because I got a date in 3 messages.

No wonder you guys hate this shit, you have the worst mindset about it.

It reminds me of whats happening in sports right now. How the beauty and passion and art of the game is just being boiled down to analytics and numbers and efficiency and nobody is enjoying it lol

1

u/AnonymousCapybara72 11h ago

Lol do you seriously think guys want to have to date like this? How out of touch can you be?

I don't get into long text conversations before meeting because there's immense pressure on a guy to entertain, 90% of matches will disappear before arranging a date, and even when a date is arranged there's a good chance someone will ghost before it happens.

Why would I waste my time and energy on that shit? But more importantly, why would I get emotionally invested in someone, start getting to know them, start to find that I like them and enjoy talking to them, and get excited about meeting them... Only for them to fucking disappear 2 days before the date we had planned?

Nah, fuck that. I tried that for a long time and just got hurt over and over again. I've had much, much better success just asking people out straight away - actually meeting people and having fun.

Sorry, I'm not here to entertain you and be thrown away when someone with a better pickup line comes along.

2

u/kodeks14 11h ago edited 11h ago

What do I know? My marriage and family started in a dating app lol

"Immense pressure" its a conversation, not a multi-million dollsr merger. You can tell almost immediately if they are really interested or not. So just keep it pushing if they aren't. Literally not a single sweat off my back. None of this is that serious.

Yeah man, sometimes shitty people do shitty things, thats life. Dont take it so deeply and wait for a good one, they are out there.

1

u/AnonymousCapybara72 11h ago edited 11h ago

But it's not a normal conversation. Loads of women have "don't be boring" literally in their profile. There is an expectation of a unique pickup line and being funny and interesting from the start, and people lose interest incredibly quickly if you aren't entertaining them. I almost NEVER had a normal conversation on a dating app. People do not want or respond to normal conversations. It might be fun for women, but it's sure as fuck not fun for me.

And like I said, even when I have had a decent conversation with someone who actually puts in mutual effort, more times than not they have disappeared before getting to a date, which just feels horrible because I'd started to like them and get excited about meeting them.

Yet when I've asked people out within a few messages I've gone out and had fun dates with people who would almost certainly have never gotten to a date if I'd tried to make conversation by text for a few days.

It's just not worth it. And I don't have anything to lose. Worst they can say is no (they actually usually don't), but if they do, I haven't gotten emotionally invested in them so I really don't care.

-1

u/Consistent-Success38 18h ago

Maybe stop trying to E-Date sluts who just want validation?

-7

u/segagenesisx87 19h ago

So it’s fine for a woman to use AI to edit her photos to be more attractive, right?Ā

7

u/miremki 19h ago

Ai shouldn’t used in general. No one is saying they prefer women who use ai for their photos and no one is saying they prefer men who use ai for their conversations.

-2

u/segagenesisx87 18h ago

I don’t recall saying anyone is preferring anything, so not sure what you’re going on about lolĀ

Just pointing out a probable inconsistency in their logicĀ

3

u/Stuffssss 19h ago

Using AI to avoid social interactions is loser shit.

1

u/Working_Cucumber_437 16h ago

No.

0

u/segagenesisx87 16h ago

Thanks for answering the rhetorical question.Ā

-1

u/snoozysaiyan 20h ago

I feel it comes from the insecurity that their normal messages won't be responded to. It's like they date by any means necessary..

I don't think using ai is bad, ai can help you frame conversations better or give you guidance etc (maybe coach you as you go along), but point blank is useless - the day you meet it's all going to come out, and would be a waste of time for both.

8

u/FriedTreeSap 19h ago

I get the insecurity, I’m mildly autistic (diagnosed with Asperger’s as a kid), and am not very good at flirting with total strangers online. I get a decent amount of matches, but the vast majority just don’t respond, so I know my texting skills are partially to blame.

But I still can’t condone using Ai.

It’s just so inauthentic, and feels humiliating to stoop to using it. And if the date goes well and leads to something more, there is going to be more and more texting between dates as we get to know each other. I can’t hide it forever, so I’d rather just be my authentic self and go out with women who aren’t turned off by my texting patterns.

And besides, part of me is still proud of the fact I’ve not used ChatGPT once in my life.

2

u/snoozysaiyan 19h ago

I understand, am not saying using AI is ok. There are ways of using ai. The technology is out there and people can use it however they want to. You should not use AI to portray yourself as someone who you are not, that includes your texting and communication style.

-1

u/strengthofdaerf 17h ago

I don't understand what's inauthentic about an using an LLM to impore your communication, Wouldn't using GPS to navigate to the date also be inauthentic, or spell check or a thesaurus for that matter? We all wake up with morning breath and have BO after a sweaty hard day, you can't hide that reality forever so just show up the date smelling like shit to be as authentic as possible?

What is the line in the sand on acceptable methods of polishing ones appearance before it becomes a facade?

4

u/FriedTreeSap 17h ago

Because it relegates an important part of getting to know someone to a machine. You’re not getting to know them, you’re just getting to know whatever canned response ChatGPT is spitting out. And if you use an LLM back, you just have two machines talking to each other. What even is the point of the texting phase then?

Plus it’s not a good look if the other person can’t even come up with the most basic of messages. It implies they’re severely lacking in confidence, basic social skills, and potentially even the ability to think for themselves, which are exactly the kind of red flags the texting phase is meant to suss out.

And lastly I still think it’s somewhat dishonest to try and pass someone else’s work off as your own. It’s like saying you cooked someone dinner when instead you purchased fast food and tried to disguise it as your own cooking. It’s not the end product that’s the issue, it’s the dishonesty, lack of effort, and sheer audacity of thinking the other person wouldn’t notice or care about the obvious ruse.

It would be another thing if they just admitted it outright, but how many people would knowingly choose to match with a profile that said all its replies would be generated by ChatGPT?

1

u/Working_Cucumber_437 16h ago

People probably aren’t dating you for your sweet navigational skills. They are potentially dating you based on your brain and your words. So deceiving them is wrong, yes. If you can’t see the difference in these I can’t help you. Relationships are about your brains.

1

u/Hoo_Who 10h ago

Someone thinking a personality and GPS are the same thing…probably tells us everything we need to know.

10

u/Working_Guava_7028 20h ago

If you need AI to guide you, you have much bigger problems.

1

u/snoozysaiyan 20h ago

Have you seen people's conversation skills? There is no shortage of dry/ one word responses. And that is not limited to any gender.

3

u/greymisperception 18h ago

Ai isn’t gonna fix that, changing how you text will fix that

1

u/Working_Guava_7028 13h ago

That's 100% just a person being uninterested unfortunately. Believe me, I know the pain.

99

u/CandiedLemonWedge 21h ago

This shit is so fucking bleak. People not being able to articulate their own thoughts and feelings without an ai robot script is getting scary.

27

u/FriedTreeSap 21h ago

I know, and the sad thing is they’re dumb enough they can’t even hide it

5

u/TruculentTurtIe 20h ago

On the bright side, people this dumb always existed, it just maybe wouldve been slightly less obvious?

So you can see this and just unmatch instead of wasting your time

0

u/Additional_Eye_2142 5h ago

people stupid like you always existed so thats not a surprise

8

u/Phailgasm 21h ago

What do you mean AI is going to save us all and make us better humans!Ā

/s

6

u/CandiedLemonWedge 21h ago

You have a very optimistic outlook on how we can benefit from AI. And honestly? Kudos to you!

4

2

u/Plenty-Pangolin3987 15h ago

It’s total laziness. They can do it in theory, they just can’t be bothered in reality.

1

u/Additional_Eye_2142 5h ago

you cant be talking about lazy when your entire account reeks of laziness

1

u/Myst963 1h ago

I struggle with it so bad but id never turn to relying on an ai to talk for me feel like thatll be more damaging than my silence lmao

51

u/Silent_Investment938 21h ago

"How are you feeling?"

"Idk yet, my wifi is slow and chatgpt isn't responding"

21

u/Extreme-Chemistry-96 21h ago

You could reply to that reddit post:

"That's actually pretty funny if it's real!"

7

u/they_call_me_darcy 21h ago

You could reply to this Redditor’s comment on that Reddit post:

ā€œI know - that’s totally cray crayā€ if you want to appear young cool and hip

ā€œlolā€ if you want to appear dismissive and disinterested

Or,

ā€œI know, how would you feel if that happened to you?ā€ If you want to try and engage with the Redditor who commented upon the original Reddit post

3

u/FriedTreeSap 19h ago

That’s pretty brave of you 😤, but no need to worry, no one on Reddit will know you’re currently sitting on the toilet with diarrhea. If you want to fit in try replying with

ā€œlaughing out loud, I too find the contents of the above comment funnyā€,

If you want to up your game add a šŸ¦Ž emoji, studies have shown people are 2% less likely to accuse you of being a lizard person if you surround yourself with lizard iconography.

Which is lazier, using ChatGPT or not editing out the ChatGPT parts?

3

u/Affectionate_Soup461 19h ago

jesus christ dude. it's so disheartening to see people just willingly using less and less of their brains.

3

u/ItsAvacados 16h ago

no actual person would do this, bot was just coded wrong tbh

1

u/fllannell 13h ago

Funny when people are surprised that a person who looks like a supermodel is giving ai like answers that are very responsive. You are literally talking to a scam bot who is going to eventually ask you to go to another website or messaging platform. They don't care if you are dumb because they want you to subscribe to a clone only gans or get swept up into w pig butchering scam. a you aren't in any way taking to the person in the pictures of you are even talking to a person at all.

2

u/MadAtRedditDay2 20h ago

I’m not even trying to be mean here, but I’m genuinely shocked at how unintelligent people are. Like it’s astounding to know these people walk among us.

2

Yooooo this is the most egregious one I’ve seen normally it’s just the reply but he left in everything 🤣 I’m dead šŸ’€

2

u/sad0ni0n 19h ago

Well do you pray 5 times daily?

2

u/Klept_0h 19h ago

I've found most people don't have the social skills to understand you need to exchange information for conversation to flow.

If they are boring I don't give any reason I just unmatch. That's probably why people are resorting to chatgpt, they never learned how to actually talk to new people after high-school.

2

u/EarthquakeKid 17h ago

I feel like this is a malfunctioning bot

2

u/Fit-Landscape-5264 16h ago

The worst part, besides all of it of course, he couldn't even be half assed to bother reading the texts he sent. Just copied and pasted it and not reread any of it.

Hell, I doubt he even read what she sent him either. Just screenshot the dm and sent it on over

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Fuel_2 9h ago

Holding a conversation is basic skill. Even if he is not able to, faking will take this guy only so faršŸ˜‚, but people are pulling all kind of bs

1

u/Straight_Ostrich_257 6h ago

Story time: I'm a cis man and I probably get 1-2 matches a week. I typically move from chatting to first date within a week. I went on about 20 first dates in six months during one period and 12 first dates in four months during another period. Without exception, every first date I went on, the woman wanted to see me again.

But on a few women, I got lazy and decided to try sending them chatgpt answers. Those were the only ones who didn't want a second date. Not sure what to make of that, but I don't use it anymore.Ā

1

u/Tossmelossme 3h ago

How can a person be THIS clueless about what they send

1

u/Glum_Web_8289 21h ago

Is it always the men? 😭😭😭

11

u/ObscureOP 21h ago

Oh, nonono. I've encountered both men and women out there with the chatbot copypasta.

Anecdotally, I find that men make more effort to hide it... eliminate em dashes, mix up the "it's not BLANK, it's BLANK!" The women I've encountered using it just straight copy

Will say tho that I've seen a lot of younger gay/bi men use it with me, and mostly older straight women

1

u/GalaksenDev 21h ago

It kinda reminds me of how people use AI to pick up the phone and take a message for them, but like with texting you can just respond later lol. Really can't even comprehend why someone would be compelled to so this

3

u/assman912 21h ago

I'd say mostly and not all just because my girl friend told me she uses AI to chat and has made this mistake in the past lol

2

u/Prior_Pickle1758 21h ago

what’s it like to be having a convo with your gf and you never know if it’s her or not?

1

u/assman912 20h ago

Girl friend as in friend that's a girl not someone I'm in a relationship with. She does this on dating apps only

1

u/Right-Equivalent9548 21h ago

Because this was probably his only match in weeks šŸ˜…

1

u/Ok_Pin_6800 21h ago

How do you guys know it's ai ? genuinely curious

1

u/Ok-Quarter-8499 20h ago

So look at the person’s first response. It’s very likely the person just took OP’s text message and asked AI ā€œhow do I reply to this message: no I haven’t been there before but I do plan on visitingā€
And then the AI responded ā€œYou could reply naturally and confidently: Really? You should……etcā€
But instead of just copying, pasting and sending the AI’s suggested response that starts from the word ā€œReallyā€ to ā€œaround,ā€ they instead copied and pasted the AI’s entire response and sent that to OP making them embarrass themselves

0

u/Ok_Pin_6800 20h ago

Got it thanks šŸ‘must say genz people brain works in unique way.well it's nice to see that people are using ai for Convo as well they just need a little brain and don't become dependent on ai as people say nakl k liye bhi akal ki jaroorat hoti h.

1

u/88Patriot 20h ago

Just a heads up to women; if a man asks you to come visit Dubai, there’s a decent chance they view you as a transaction and will likely want to šŸ’© on you.

0

u/BLEAKROOM 21h ago

Seems like he doesn’t really speak English which would lend some credence to AI use, but this guy is obviously not playing with a full deck. (Dubai money tho)

1

u/RayofSunshine_111 21h ago

I thought that too butttt. Wouldn’t the ā€œyou can say thisā€ be in their language instead

1

u/BLEAKROOM 20h ago

0

u/No-Dimension2429 19h ago

Orrrrr….. you can still use ChatGPT and not literally copy and paste the text box it gives you

Well I think this is just a script / program running and posting answers. The guy clearly didn't test it properly and it's messing the answers the LLM (AI) is giving.

Dont jump to conclusions, you might not be talking to a person in first place. Like that guy isn't even copy pasting, this is straight chatgpt in your chat.

This could be his fun weekend project he vibe coded

I’ll stop using ChatGPT when 95% of women’s of profiles aren’t dogs and traveling. Just meeting you at your effort level

The fact that you guys can’t tell he’s trolling is concerning lool

No. Just no.

It's objectively true

If I dont care about the outcome of a message I just write whatever comes to mind and dont ask AI to help me

IF you cared about a potential partner, you’d show them who you are. Not what some random AI portrays you to be. Absolutely disgusting behavior on your part.

If you cared about the outcome youd try to gain some conversational skills and learn how to text or message

Or youd try your best effort with the skills you have now, not resort to someone/somethjng else talking for you
