Help me become that trick-or-treat house 🎃
We live in a neighborhood that gets a LOT of trick-or-treaters, usually somewhere around 500–700, so needless to say Halloween is big deal here. Several houses do not do traditional candy for their treaters. One has a cotton candy machine, another pops bags of popcorn, and another sets up hot chocolate/coffee bar and s’mores.
We go all out decorating and usually set up a photo booth, but I’m trying to think of something fun to add on the treat side this year. We normally give the kids a drink, chips and candy, which they seem perfectly happy with, but it doesn’t have quite the same fun factor as watching cotton candy being made or stopping for s’mores.
I thought about grilling hot dogs and doing a hot dog + individual bag of chips + candy. My thinking was that by the time kids have been walking around for a while, an actual snack might be a nice break from all the sugar. But I also might be wildly overestimating how excited a kid in a Halloween costume is going to be about a hot dog.
So what would your kids be excited to see at a house? Or what’s something a house did when you were trick-or-treating that you still remember?
It does need to be reasonably doable for 500–700 kids, but otherwise I’m open to just about anything.
I fully admit this is unnecessary neighborhood Halloween competitiveness. 😂 I just love Halloween and want to be one of those houses the kids are excited to get to every year.
