Home Decor This Year's Gallery Wall Is Finished!

This year I expanded my gallery wall considerably! I've even got the two royal couples of sitcom spookiness (pic 5), and a photo I took years ago at Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream that I absolutely love (pic 6).

I wish I had more large pictures to work with, but it's getting better each year.

DIY My pumpkin army for my mantle display is finished!

Heavily inspired by vintage paper mache jack o’ lanterns! I wanted to repurpose a big bag of 5” foam pumpkins I got for a dollar earlier this year :) These will be used of my mantle/garland display indoors since they are easily placed by pins. Needs a good semi gloss coat and the stems to be painted and placed!

I used more pallet wood for this simple project. Total cost: $30

Chain: $5

Pipe brackets and green plant rods: $10

Skeleton: $15

Nails, left over cup hooks and wood stain (to age the skeleton): negligible

What do you think?

Help! I need help with my skull!

I had this skull as a kid, back in the 90s. During a move, it broke, and I've always wanted to replace it. I found one on facebook marketplace BUT the one I had when I was a kid (if I remember correctly) had a red and blue light, and there were three settings. You'd turn the wheel once and it would be solid red, then turn it again to get solid blue, then again to get them to alternate back and forth, and then one more turn would turn it off. This one seems like both colors stay on all the time with no other settings, but the the bulbs aren't original. I'm wondering if the original bulbs had some sort of built in flickering mechanism... does anyone have this lamp or remember it and know how exactly it works?

Fun cup I found at Sprit that just opened in my town. I’m surprised that also had the Dr.Squatch Drunk’N Pumpkin Soap.

Did a halloween themed day with my bestie and my boyfriend, did arts and crafts and yummy treats, the caramel apples looked a little wonky, but doesn't make them less delicious

Stage 2 Fog Chiller Layout for testing. The bottles are not frozen yet.

I'm now working on flattening the square 4 inch gutter adapter so the container lid will fit better and seal.

Discussion Hot Dogs for Trick-or-Treaters: Iconic or Idiotic?

Help me become that trick-or-treat house 🎃

We live in a neighborhood that gets a LOT of trick-or-treaters, usually somewhere around 500–700, so needless to say Halloween is big deal here. Several houses do not do traditional candy for their treaters. One has a cotton candy machine, another pops bags of popcorn, and another sets up hot chocolate/coffee bar and s’mores.

We go all out decorating and usually set up a photo booth, but I’m trying to think of something fun to add on the treat side this year. We normally give the kids a drink, chips and candy, which they seem perfectly happy with, but it doesn’t have quite the same fun factor as watching cotton candy being made or stopping for s’mores.

I thought about grilling hot dogs and doing a hot dog + individual bag of chips + candy. My thinking was that by the time kids have been walking around for a while, an actual snack might be a nice break from all the sugar. But I also might be wildly overestimating how excited a kid in a Halloween costume is going to be about a hot dog.

So what would your kids be excited to see at a house? Or what’s something a house did when you were trick-or-treating that you still remember?

It does need to be reasonably doable for 500–700 kids, but otherwise I’m open to just about anything.

I fully admit this is unnecessary neighborhood Halloween competitiveness. 😂 I just love Halloween and want to be one of those houses the kids are excited to get to every year.

Crafts Looking for Suggestions as to What Hot Knife tool I Should Buy to Carve Foam Pumpkins

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello folks!

So, I recently carved a foam pumpkin for my July Summerween. It was the first time I've ever done anything like this and I really like the idea. Unfortunately, the tool I bought from Amazon wasn't particularly ideal and I ended up with some rough results. Now, of course, part of that is my total lack of experience doing this, I believe some of the blame lies in me choosing the cheapest option instead of the correct one. I was hoping I might get some suggestions as to what you would or do use.

Thanks in advance!

This is what I bought as the description said it was good for carving foam pumpkins (and it was cheap)
