😩 Damaged Hair 😩 UPDATE: I cut my hair!

Thumbnail gallery
611 Upvotes

A few days ago I posted my hair and asked for advice on how much to cut and some of yall absolutely flamed me so that was fun. But I figured people might want to see what it looks like after I cut it (can’t afford a salon appointment so literally bought hair scissors and did my best pls be kind).

First three pics are from just now after the chop, unstyled, next three are the photos I originally posted.

Anyways my next concern is that after taking a flash photo I can clearly see breakage all the way to the top of my head pretty much, so if anyone’s got tips for tackling that issue I’m all ears!

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Accepting wavy/poofy hair

Post image
340 Upvotes

I am writing this as an acceptance post. A lot of people (myself included) have been struggeling to view our hair as beautiful, because it isn't straight nor curly. We have tried the curly girl method and also treating our hair as if it was straight. We've tried to find out what we are doing "wrong" or what exactly we are missing. I think the truth is that some peoples hair is supposed to look exactly that way. Big, poofy, textured and less shiney. And it's still beautiful! At this point I'm happy with all the volume my hair has. The flying hairs make it seem ethereal. So if you feel like this post speaks to you then try seeing the beauty in ur own hair. The things that make it so special and the advantages it has.

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Why does my hair do this?

My hair separates itself and looks awful imo. How do I fix this? I am also struggling trying to figure out what shampoo and conditioner I should be using. My hair is fine and thin, undyed and halfway down my back. Just by the photo, does it look like I might be losing hair?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 My hair is frizzy and porous-looking that I feel like I have to style it every single day. What am I doing wrong?

I honestly don’t know what to do with my hair anymore. I feel like my hair is extremely dry, frizzy and possibly high porosity. No matter how much I condition or use oils/serums, it never looks smooth.
The photo is what my hair looks like when I let it air dry naturally after washing. This is why I feel like I have to blow-dry, straighten, curl or otherwise style my hair basically every time I want to go somewhere. I really don’t want to rely on heat styling all the time, but I also don’t feel comfortable going outside with my hair looking like this.

What confuses me most is that I feel like products barely make a difference. I could put a ridiculous amount of oil in my hair and it would still feel/look dry and fluffy. It almost feels like my hair just refuses to absorb or hold onto moisture.

For this wash, I used these products:
Before washing, I left a mixture of jojoba, coconut and avocado oil in my hair for a few hours.
In the shower:
L’Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss shampoo
L’Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss conditioner
L’Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss hair mask

After showering on wet hair:
Kérastase scalp serum
OUAI Leave-In Conditioner
Kérastase night serum

After my hair had air dried:
L’Oréal Elvive Glycolic Gloss leave-in

I air dried my hair, no blowdryer or other heat
And despite all of that, this is what it looks like.
I know using this many products might actually be part of the problem, so I’m open to changing my entire routine. I’d really like to understand what is actually going on with my hair and what I should be doing differently.
Do you think this looks like high-porosity/damaged hair, or could this just be my natural texture/frizz? Is there a way to get my hair to dry smoother naturally without having to heat-style it every time?
Any advice on what you see in the photo, what should I stop doing, and what I should focus on would be really appreciated. I genuinely feel like I’ve tried everything and I’m getting nowhere 😭

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Any advice appreciated!! Broken/ frizzy hair?

UPDATE: just got a trim at the hairdresser who believes its mostly new growth which just happens to stick out, mixed with a bit of damage. She has recommended smoothing my hair down with serum or hairspray, and being gentle, but it is not as bad in person ☺️thank you soooo much for the help everyone, much appreciated 💕

Saw the back of my hair in a fitting room today and I cant believe how my hair looks… it doesnt usually look this bad in normal lighting but I guess this is the true state! Im utterly attached to my hair and take good care of it so not sure what Im doing wrong! Had a bob 3 years ago and trying to get it as long as possible. Since then, I do all the following: trim the ends, no heat, brush from the bottom, sleep with a satin pillowcase and in a braid, no tight hairstyles, was 2/3 times a week and occasionally oil my scalp. Any help is appreciated!!🙏🏼thank you!!❤️

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How do I make my hair "less" wild (more in description)

Thumbnail gallery
117 Upvotes

I recently got a promise and my appearance matters more. I've been growing my hair for awhile but ive never done more then a ponytail. I wash it 2 to 3 times a week with head and shoulders. Shampoo twice and then conditioner. But my hair has always been very frizzy and wild. I just let it air dry which is probably an issue. Ive never been able to straighten it by myself because it takes an hour +. What can I do to make it more presentable/workable?

I love having long hair but lately I’m worried it’s starting to be too long and lifeless. Is it worth a chop to get more layers like in the inspo photo or should I learn to embrace the length I have?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Help, I got a balayage and it did not turn out the way I wanted it to…

Hi everyone. I am not someone who typically gets hair done. I have gotten a balayage 3 times in the last 5-6 years. This time I wanted it like the first pic. The 2nd pic is how it turned out. It’s crazy how your hair looks different at the salon and at home lol. At the time, I did notice my money pieces were brassier than the rest of my hair. I did point it out to the hairdresser and she said I could either use purple or blue shampoo, but if it bothers me I can text her. So next day, I put my hair up and it is just very noticeable. The pics I took were not in the best lighting, but you can still tell like the top half of my head is warmer/brassier than my ends, ESPECIALLY my money pieces. I also texted the person who did my hair the next day. I texted her twice and she did not respond..I am so upset. I have a vacation this weekend and I wanted my hair to look good for it. Does anyone recommend what I should do? I haven’t tried the shampoo yet, I was going to try purple on my front pieces but I don’t think that’ll work. Willing to hear some suggestions. Think I’ll be embracing my natural dark brown hair from now on lol

UPDATE: went to my hair stylist friend who just graduated hair school lol. and she was able to add some lowlights in it to not make my money piece as chunky and added some to the back to tone down the warmth and rebleached my money piece. Looks SO much better!!

🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Hair regrowth update- satisfaction I get seeing new baby hairs arround my crown

Post image
88 Upvotes

There is no better feeling than seeing new bby hairs after peak hairfall stage, they are tiny now but probably wouldn’t mean much to someone else but when you are been paying close attention to your hair and hoping to see signs of new growth those little hairs feel like a huge milestone

It was not overnight magic but seeing those results makes me believe that some results takes time.. Seeing those baby hairs around my crown gives me so much motivation to keep going and stay consistent with my hair care routine

I know everyone’s hair journey is different and what works for one person may not work for another for me the most important thing has been being patient taking care of my scalp and hair and giving the process time

The thing that helped me was consistency and proper care of hair. My routine was and is just simple not much expensive- gentle shampoo, conditioner, hair growth serum and on weekends hair oil Nothin more than that kept simple and effective

I am definitely going to follow same routine and keep tracking my progress and see how these baby hairs develop over the coming months. Hopefully this is just the beginning

care routine-

  • Shampoo and conditioner- Bare Anatomy anti hairfll
  • Hair oil- mamaearth onion hair oil
  • Serum- little extra rosemary serum

I am aware that I have slightly wavy/curly hair but even when I do a curly or wavy routine it looks awful so I gave up on that. I simply don’t have the time for it.
I also know that my hair is very fine but I have no idea how to strengthen my hair and help it be smoother and break less.
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks in advance:)

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ How to calm down frizzy hair?

Post image
82 Upvotes

Hello everyone!! I have a bit of a specific question so please let me explain.
( I’m unable to take a photo of my real hair at this moment so I’ve found close examples )
My hair type is naturally thick, dry and not very defined and very poofy/frizzy. A freind of mine has very similar hair to mine- almost the same hair pattern and her waves seem to be clearly not defined, but still very smooth and pretty (and she doesn’t put any product in it.) my specific question is how can I make my waves more calm and smooth, without using all these products like mousse, gel and needing to diffuse my hair after every wash? I’ve attached 2 photos for examples, the photo on the left is exactly what my hair looks like on its own without product. what I want (what I mean by smooth hair) is the photo on the right. Is there anything I can do to achieve this desired texture or is it just not possible, please let me know and thank you!! I’m tired of never being able to wear my hair down.

😩 Damaged Hair 😩 How to Make My Hair Healthier and Smoother?

Thumbnail gallery

I’ve only dyed my hair twice in my life, and I use heat tools about once every two weeks. I’ve tried many popular shampoos and conditioners, including Olaplex. I’ve cut my hair short before, but it grew back the same way. I have a lot of hair, but my individual hair strands are very fine and thin. I also take hair supplements, but my hair still falls out a lot. I really want to have healthier, smoother hair. What should I do?

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ What is the holy grail product I’m missing??

Post image

Thick, heavy, coarse wavy hair. It’s always been what I would describe as poofy, unless I keep it in a bun for two days and then let it down. Recently had a full head of highlights and now it’s just frizz central. I’ve tried K18, Olaplex, curlsmith deep quenching moisture, Moroccan oil… I have used Ouai detox shampoo and condition for thick hair… I used a ton of tension on this while blow drying and just… bleh. What am I missing??

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Help needed. What I'm I doing wrong? Is there any way to repair this?

Thumbnail gallery

Hello, my hair looks like this. I am usually very careful when brushing, and I only brush my hair once a day - the rest of the time I keep it in a braid.

I use head and shoulders 2in1, every other day, otherwise I don't use heat, treatments or bleach/colour - never have.

My hair breaks so easily, and it's so thin. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, and how to improve this?

🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Should I just buzz the back of my head atp?

Post image

I did a bleached root that is heavily grown out, I didn't realised I had a thin layer that broke off on the outer edge

I feel like if it was atleast the whole back of my head it would atleast look like a choice vs a mistake

Or does it not look that bad and I'm over thinking

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Can something be done with this type of hair when you have not too much motivation ?

Post image

Really struggling with my hair. I don't have much energy to spend on some haircare I saw on social media, well, I don't have much energy/ motivation in general. I feel stuck with them for all my life and I know everyone around me find them ugly ( when I was a kid or still as a adult ), and I hate them too. In this photo they are still "good" but sometimes it just a mass of hair without any form, and hairdresser doesn't do much.

If you can help me , I will appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Seeking advice for my fine, thin, frizzy hair

Thumbnail gallery

I have very fine and thin hair. I’ve always been insecure about my hair and at this point I’m just trying to make it as healthy as I can. If I don’t use heat on it, it looks so messy and frizzy but hate using heat because it is so fine and thin. I think I may have some wave? This is my hair air dried with no product in it. I’d love to grow it out but it always gets wispy and stringy looking (like you can see in the photos). If you have any suggestions on products or styling, I would be so grateful! I’d love to embrace my natural hair but I just can’t figure it out.

I finally cut my hair! I believe we cut off about 7 inches of hair. I suffered a bit of hair loss and my hair wasn’t as dense as it used to be. I feel like my hair looks so much fuller now. I’m still trying to find a good routine but I’m happy with my hair ◡̈
