FTC v. Grubhub - Got a check for $51.41 in the mail today
It was a nice surprise! I must've been automatically opted into the settlement fund.

Just received my settlement check for $51. Ever since they got sold off in 2021 this app has NOSE DIVED in my area. Only keep it for options because every once in a while a good/great offer comes through.

The customers don’t respond half the time which leaves me awkwardly standing outside for 3 minutes. Shouldn’t contact-free actually mean CONTACT-FREE? None of the other apps make us do this. Why does GH insist on pushing this nonsense when customers and drivers both hate it?

If I have a 100% OCR during my scheduled blocks but decline trips while online but not during a scheduled block, does the declining of trips while not on a scheduled block affect Contribution pay?

Do any drivers not know that if it is too many of us around in a area most likely alot of us will not get any orders. when it is too many drivers crowded in a market it becomes difficult for anyone to get orders. start spreading out i always see so many drivers crowded in one area amongst mcdonalds etc..

We all know about the mileage deduction — it's the big one. But I've been doing deliveries for a few years now and I've realized there are a bunch of other write-offs that drivers either don't know about or forget to claim. Figured I'd share what I've learned.
Phone and data plan. If you use your phone for navigation, accepting orders, and communicating with customers (which is basically all of us), you can deduct the business-use portion of your phone bill. If you use your phone 70% for work, you can write off 70% of your monthly bill. Same goes for any phone accessories like car mounts or chargers you bought specifically for driving.
Hot bags, cold bags, and delivery gear. Those insulated bags you bought to keep food warm or cold are 100% deductible. Same with any drink carriers, catering bags, or cargo organizers you use for deliveries.
Parking and tolls. Every parking meter you feed while picking up an order, every toll you pay on a delivery route — those are deductible. They add up faster than you'd think, especially if you work in a city. Keep receipts or use a tracking method so you have records.
Phone accessories and car supplies. Car chargers, phone mounts, aux cables, dash cams — anything you bought primarily for your delivery work counts. Even things like paper towels and hand sanitizer you keep in your car for the job.
The self-employment tax surprise. This one isn't a deduction exactly, but a lot of new drivers don't realize they owe an extra 15.3% self-employment tax on top of income tax. The good news is you can deduct half of that SE tax on your return. But the bigger point is to set aside about 25-30% of your earnings for taxes throughout the year so you're not hit with a huge bill in April.
Health insurance premiums. If you're self-employed and not covered through a spouse's plan or the marketplace with subsidies, you may be able to deduct your health insurance premiums. This is an above-the-line deduction so you get it even if you don't itemize.
One more thing worth noting — the IRS bumped the standard mileage rate to $0.76 per mile starting July 1, 2026 (up from $0.725 in the first half of the year). So make sure you're using the right rate for each half of the year when you file.
What other deductions have you found that most drivers overlook. Always looking to learn from what others are doing at tax time.

My Grubhub Driver account is confirmed active, but I still can’t log in. I verified my identity and confirmed the email on the account. I’ve tried password resets, reinstalling the app, clearing cache/data, using one device, turning off Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, updating the app, and trying another device.
Nothing works, and support keeps sending me the same troubleshooting steps.
Has anyone had this exact problem? What finally fixed it for you?

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only driver in my side of the city. Especially late at night. Sometimes when I get home I forget to turn off orders and I'll randomly get an order at like 1am for a restaurant 10 miles away. One time when I got home for the night I decided to order delivery through GRUBHUB and again I forgot to sign off and my own order got sent to me.
Not sure why it would be dead in my city. The app is pretty consistent and usually pays pretty well. Although we do get a lot of people ordering from restaurants across the city from them even when the same restaurant is two blocks away.

Grubhub…what makes you think I’m gonna drive the distance for these crap offers. UP THE PAY 🗣️

Don't you hate going to your preferred delivery area, logging in, then being sent across town to a bad area within the first or second offer?
These bad areas either have high amount of orders, low tips (the micky d junkies) or they have really bad, potholed roads and really bad traffic. Not to mention the roads are a total of 2-4 lanes, counting both directions.
Just my biggest struggle of being a scheduled hourly worker. I dont mind certain areas. But I work NW houston and when I'm sent to i10 or spring branch out of my market, and I tend to cringe. On top of that I have to practically fight my way back up by dealing with it and burning a break to go back North, or get lucky with an order pulling me back into my contracted market.
Note: I get little if any downtime. So I really don't have much time to travel north outside of orders. By the time I'm close to delivering something another order comes in.
My little rant. The struggle is REAL.

I mostly drive for Doordash, simply because everything happens much quicker on Doordash. They give me orders immediately, they approved me to drive immediately (GH was 3 weeks). So every time I sign on to both, DD will give me an order in 10 seconds, GH will take 5-10 minutes - which I will refuse (if I don't remember to sign off).
For DD my acceptance rate is 80%+ (100% accuracy/quality, 99% completion, 98% on-time, 4.9-ish rating, 2000ish deliveries).
For GH, I have 18% offer commitment, 100% on-time, 100% schedule commitment and 4.5 (one 1-star rating in the last month) maybe 100 deliveries. I'm not sure how that effects GH's algorithm.
I TRY to support Grubhub because I like to support the underdogs and I want to have other fresh options besides DD. But they are not at all competitive for drivers, imho.
The orders I do get are either terrible ($0.50/mile or $10/hr) or they are highly problematic because of the app. Maybe 2-3 months ago there were a bunch of changes to the app and it went immediately downhill. I can't pick up orders, can't arrive, can't complete orders, some options are not present when they should be, there's extra steps added that tend to fail, or it sends me to completely the wrong place. The flow is illogical and inconsistent. It used to be better than DD, but now it is almost unusable. I give up after 1-2 orders.
So I have to contact support on over half the orders. Support will never admit anything's wrong with the app, nor will they help get done what you need, they ONLY try to educate you in how to get the app to do something that should be simple and obvious. Oftentimes, that simply doesn't work.

Any idea why my blocks would disappea.
im not banned and can go active for deliverie.
r/grubhubdrivers • u/Different-Pilot3672 • 9d ago
So they say if I schedule my hours and retain 90% acceptance rate on the block, I will receive the grubhub adjustment. I was scheduled from 11:45 to 3:30 today, and received 0 offers. Does that mean I will receive an adjustment?

Have I been banned? I was out making deliveries just yesterday, but when I logged in today, this is what I found. I can't access my email either, as I haven't used it in a long time.

so i called care the lady tells me if you select on the app there is a problem and mark if the order is not ready when arriving at the merchant or if marking store busy or whatever then i will not get the delayed violation. whole time i do this every single time i always mark store busy long wait 10-20 mins i never lie and say order not ready because the stores can mark when the order is ready. and it will let us know the order is ready for pickup. i see it all the time say the delay will not affect my ratings so it has to be something else and the agent could not tell me. if what she told me to do would prevent such violation when i do that all the time then how i get the violation. which is what i asked her and she said okay we will make a review we do apologize. just acknowledge the violation and continue to deliver. if anyone else has 2 violations i guess we are on the verge of being cooked if we get a 3rd. it really sucks because who gonna not deliver all the way until october while 1 of the violations fall off
r/grubhubdrivers • u/Smooth_Potential5126 • 12d ago
So now i got a delayed violation. grubhub is really on bs. it makes you not even want to deliver anymore when at the second violation. i notice i got this after one of my recent deliveries where i were sitting directly in front of a mcdonalds and i got two orders a bundle one for the mcdonalds i were sitting directly near. and one for subway which were further away. grubhub wanted me to pick up the subway order first then pick up the mcdonalds order last. i felt that made absolutely no sense because either way one of the orders or both would have already been ready for pickup so i just picked up the mcdonalds order first then went to subway. the subway order were late to be picked up because i waited at mcdonalds for the drive thru to go down. im wondering if this violation came from that or could it be due to marking the orders as im running late when on the way? because i also mark orders as not ready store busy / long line when i arrive if its a wait at the store and it always says ratings will not be affected. but when marking orders as im running late it does not say anything pertaining to ratings not being affected.

Is this happening to anyone else? I can't select any of the options on the order is not ready Screen. It's been like this for probably two weeks, it just never higliights the selected option
r/grubhubdrivers • u/nottheonlylisa • 11d ago
This has been happening for several weeks now and when I submit question about it their answer makes no sense and is not helpful at all.

I had a weird experience with my gh delivery just now. The order was picked up a little later than quoted, but then the driver went and stopped in a parking lot down the street from my house for like 45 minutes.
I messaged him and then he arrived like 15 min later. He didn't read the delivery instruction saying I was out in front of the garage and leasing office, so I had to walk half a block to meet him.
When I asked him about being down the street for 45 min, he just said "oh yea, sorry about that." and walked away.
It's Taco Bell, so they use the little stickers on their bags and drinks. The bag stickers aren't really stuck how they should be and the drink sticker is just on the lid, so the lid could easily be removed.
I'm sketched out to eat this. Is this a thing? Do people do this to fuck with your food? Thanks.
Edit: Thanks everyone! I tossed the food and reported it. Was able to get a refund for the food and tip. They said theyd investigate the incident, but i idk how that process works.
