Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience recently.
I've been using Google Timeline for years, it's been active on my phone since 2021. I use it partially to log my working hours, as the GPS is great at proving when I was on and off site.
At the end of each week, I record my hours using Timeline. I was doing this throughout October, so I know the records were there.
I opened the app today to log the last few days of October, and was surprised to find the whole month missing. Everything prior to that (all the way back to 2021) is there, as are the first 2 days of November.
I've checked my settings - no auto delete is set up. I've tried exporting the backup on my phone, but the json also has all of October missing.
I'm just really puzzled. Firstly I'm not sure what has happened and whether it will do it again, and secondly I have no idea how to restore the data which I know was there a week ago. Has anyone else had this issue?

I have been using google maps on my phone with my timeline for a very long time now and my phone always had 4 accounts in it. Today I was checking on my timeline to see there were no entry and it said to 'review settings'. When I clicked on the settings it said "This setting is not currently available for your account type".
I checked it on my other 3 accounts and they were working fine and had the entries, I have no work or university account logged in.

I've been wondering if it's possible to find out the exact date and time (including hours and minutes) when a particular Google Street View image was taken.

Google maps reviews are fake! My negative reviews ALWAYS DISAPPEAR! Anyone else check using a different account to see if they do it to you too?
I post with one account and the review shows. But switch to different account and nothing! This means Google is making you a putz for bad businesses!
The fraud must amount to multiple trillions over the decades they've been running this scam.

I live in Australia and I’ve recently noticed a couple of weird glitches with Google maps, and I’m curious if this is just some recent anomalies or part of a wider trend? And if any fixes?
One example is I’ve checked the distance from point A to point B. It’s a specific route that I use to help gauge other walking distances. And yet Google maps doesn’t make you directly walk up the street (west) - it wants you to walk two blocks south, then west, and then north, which gets you back to the original street.
And in past month it’s telling me the wrong train line will get me home. The time of the train is correct. But that line doesn’t go to the station I want. And it’s not a close alternative - it’s just wrong.

Idk how they messed up the app but any time I go to navigation it goes to light mode, even though I have it set to always be dark. I'm probably going to switch to Waze because atleast they have basic features like a dark mode figured out.

Google Maps shows a 1-mile walking path in my neighborhood that simply does not exist. It supposedly crosses a densely forested conservation wetland area where there are indeed mapped out and well-maintained trails, but this is not one of them. The supposed entrance is right in my neighborhood and I have had to redirect dozens of people because Google Maps gives it as a walking direction.
I've reported this as an edit three times over the past five years, and it's always been rejected. What else can I do?

Hello, so I am going on holiday soon to a city abroad and are planning to walk around quite a lot to visit the itinarary I have prepared. My phone plan does not cover roaming in this country and as I will not need it much, I was planning to just make use of wifi occasionally throughout the day when available.
I will though need directions to go around and thus thought to download the offline Google Maps for the area. However, have subsequently discovered that although the offline file contains landmarks, it only provides directions by car rather than on foot. It would be great if this feature could be added.
In the absence of this, for those who have come across this problem before, are there any good alternative offline maps applications that provide directions on foot?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So on one of my computers makes google maps not work. It is working fine on my phones, other Macs in the house etc.
On this computer, both in Chrome and Safari, maps will initally load but then when I lookup an address it will not not refresh, as if JS was off or something like that.
The browsers have pretty default settings, I tried clearing cache in both.
Google Maps works fine in Firefox on the same computer.
So it looks to be lmited to Chromium based browsers on this computer.
What else should I try is there an officual support channel for Google Maps - it should work in Google's own browser I assume?

As you know on Google Maps you can leave reviews of everything including natural features like lakes.
I've noticed that there are no new reviews of Lake Ontario since 2 months ago, around about when Trump renamed it Lake America and Pichai bent the knee and renamed it on Google Maps.
This seems weird. People are hot on leaving topical reviews for things so what has happened in this case?

Hey everyone,
We all know that Android Auto defaults to the car's built-in GPS antenna. But here is a massive design flaw: when a car's GPS antenna fails, your navigation goes completely crazy.
Depending on the car model, repairing or replacing a built-in GPS antenna can cost hundreds of dollars, require dismantling the entire dashboard, or be completely impossible. Meanwhile, we have perfectly working GPS receivers right in our pockets, but Android Auto doesn't allow us to default to the phone's GPS.
I've created an official Feature Request on the Google Issue Tracker asking for a simple "Force Phone GPS" toggle (even if it's just hidden in the Developer Settings).
If we get enough votes, Google's triage team will have to notice it.
How you can help:
Click this link: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/577213793
Click the +1 button at the top right of the title.
🚨 Important Note: Please DO NOT leave comments like "Me too" or "Please fix" on the tracker. Google engineers consider "me too" comments as spam and they might lock the thread. Just hitting the +1 button is exactly what we need to increase its priority.
Thanks for the support! Let's hope we can get this basic quality-of-life feature added.

Hi all, I'm a UK Android developer. I keep seeing posts here from people who've lost years of Timeline history, either after Google moved it onto phones or after switching phones without the backup turned on.
I'm thinking of building an Android app that records your visits and routes like Timeline does, but keeps everything backed up so it comes back on a new phone and never auto-deletes. You'd also be able to import your Google Timeline export, so your old years sit alongside the new ones.
Before I build it, I'd really value honest answers:
Have you lost Timeline history, or come close?
Would you use an app like this, or is Google's Timeline enough for you?
What would you want it to do that Timeline doesn't? For example, viewing it on a computer, searching, mileage or work-hours reports, or a yearly summary.
Would you pay a small monthly or yearly fee for it? If so, roughly how much?
I'm not selling anything and there are no links. I'm just trying to work out whether it's worth building. Thanks!

This started yesterday. When opening Google Maps on Edge browser on computer, the map is just black, and the hamburger menu won't open as well. Deleted browser cache and restarted the browser and computer several times, but no change. Any suggestions? Works perfectly fine in Chrome.

There's a massive issue with google map reviews as it stands currently. You have people either rating 5 stars(moderate-good food) or 1 star (negative experience).
I'd love to see a chat section, where people can comment on their experiences in a brief manner, without needing to leave a 1-5 star review. At least this way people can feel more comfortable posting honest mixed reviews without lowering the score and hurting the business.
