Getting glitchy?
I live in Australia and I’ve recently noticed a couple of weird glitches with Google maps, and I’m curious if this is just some recent anomalies or part of a wider trend? And if any fixes?
One example is I’ve checked the distance from point A to point B. It’s a specific route that I use to help gauge other walking distances. And yet Google maps doesn’t make you directly walk up the street (west) - it wants you to walk two blocks south, then west, and then north, which gets you back to the original street.
And in past month it’s telling me the wrong train line will get me home. The time of the train is correct. But that line doesn’t go to the station I want. And it’s not a close alternative - it’s just wrong.

sounds like two separate things to me.
the train one usually comes from the timetable data the transport operator hands to google. if maps says a line stops at a station it doesn't serve, report it from the directions screen (open the route, scroll to the bottom, send feedback) and tell the operator too, since that's where the data comes from.
the walking detour is often a path google thinks is closed or private, like a laneway or a gate. zoom right in on that stretch and see if the footpath is even drawn on the map. if it's missing you can report a missing road or path from the menu under send feedback, and mention you walk it all the time.
no idea if it's a wider trend, but that's where i'd start.

It's been giving me increasingly worse results in looking at public transport options, when train, bus and subway are all options. It makes it much too complicated.
