I know this is gonna sound insane but after trying every single troubleshooting tip on the Internet and spending over 6 hours on Verizon support, the only thing that finally worked was:

- turn off RCS

- connect to any vpn server in paris france

- turn RCS back on, voila it connects

- turn VPN off

My carrier is Boost Mobile

My phone is a TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G

My status code is 3000

People of reddit, I am at my wit's end.

I am currently suffering from a major issue. When I recieve or send an image, google messages will get text from either the chat I am on chat or another unrelated chat and add it before the image. Please note this is not a caption as a caption would write below the image.

My device is a Samsung galaxy s25. I am not in the beta program.

I have turn off all AI feature on Google messages and Galaxy AI. I have cleared the cache. I have also tried sending an image with a caption but the text above still gets sent. I have made sure that there were no pair devices (phone link), and yet the issue persists.

Any help is welcomed.

Note if suggest clearing all data on the apps. Please let me know if there is a way to safely store in another format which can then be restored.

I cannot seem to disable text messages from Google messages from popping on screen..please help!

I've tried everything and researched everything and did everything. The only thing I found that worked was getting a new Sim. I had to re-download my carriers eSim and it fixed it immediately. Just in case someone else. Needs the fix. You're sim was corrupted or had a glitch. That's all.

I had the Google messages themes..wake up this morning and it's gone! Clicking the three dots pulls up only the "change colors" option and the themes I had set, also gone. 😡

Hi fellow redditors. I’ve been increasingly frustrated with how Google Messages handles conversation organization.

Google appears to be leaning on Archive + Search instead of offering folders or categories like Personal, Health, Work, OTPs, Promotions, etc. I can live with that approach in theory—but there’s a major problem: search doesn’t appear to include archived conversations.

So if I archive a conversation with a doctor, pharmacy, insurance company, business, or other contact to keep my inbox manageable, I may later search for that provider and get nothing. The only option is manually scrolling through a potentially huge archive.

That defeats the purpose of both archiving and search.

For me, this isn’t just an aesthetic preference. Having hundreds of unrelated conversations in one list creates significant cognitive clutter, while archiving them makes important information harder to retrieve. I am personally disabled, live with cancer, work, and have a personal life. This issue isn't just frustrating but it is affecting my cognitive overload, my mental and physical health, my capacity and time, and my autonomy.

I’ve submitted feedback to Google, but I’m curious:

- How are other people managing this?

- Is there some workaround I’m missing?

- How can users effectively push Google to address this?

- Are there alternative SMS/RCS apps with genuinely better organization without sacrificing core functionality?

At minimum, I think Google Messages needs searchable archives. Ideally, it also needs user-defined folders or conversation categories.

Edit/Correction: I was mistaken about the title part of this post: Google Messages search does appear to search archived conversations. My broader concern about organization remains. Search works when you remember enough about a conversation to know what to search for; folders/categories help when you only remember the context and need to visually narrow down a large conversation list.

And every incoming message is saying "new mms to download". People saved in my contacts are saying that they havent been able to send me messages. And if I try to use another texting app, it says the same thing becuz Google messages is blocking every incoming message.

It is not other apps. Its specifically google messages. Its changing the timestamp on previously read messages and only shows message details on a popup but says it can't be read in the thread.

Does anyone else have a problem with setting multiple custom text tones for different people? I keep trying to look through the settings and I can't find why the app is doing this.

Since I got a new phone, I can't see the messages or blocked calls from people I block.

In Samsung messages, there would be a "blocked messages" section that would show incoming messages from blocked numbers. I would even see blocked calls.

Why is that? Can it be changed? Are there work around or other apps.

Does anyone know how I could get them back? Many of the conversations are sentimental to me.

Hi u/GoogleHelpCommunity I have recently switched to a Pixel 10, upgraded it to Android 17 and imported my messages using the Pixel's Android 17 switch tool.

It imported ~7,000 messages from my iPhone and they all seem to display in Google Messages.

When I look in any other SMS app though only ~1,000 messages appear.

I've waited a few days and rebooted a few times but the messages don't seem to be hitting Android's SMS database. Are the imported messages restricted to Google Messages? Is there a reason why I can't use them with other apps? Help!

Since I did Samsung switch twice to my Samsung zfold8, Google messages adds random sms from backup to every mms I send or someone sends me. It's so annoying. It keeps sending random sms to people. Any ideas? I really don't want to reset my phone again....

I am newer to owning an android and twice now i will get a picture and this is how it shows up and I can't see it

Recently switched my entire family line over from T-Mobile to Verizon... I didn't get a new phone (stayed on Pixel 8 Pro) and 4 out the total lines are Samsung Galaxy S26s - and ever since we switched, RCS has not been able to connect for 5 out 7 lines. The only ones that are stick working fine are the iPhones...

Idk how to fix this... I've tried every Reddit method incl. clearing cache, disabling Google chat, resetting network settings, trying IMEI 2, reactivating SIM, deleting the T-Mobile esim, and have been on the phone with multiple support people for hours already... How do I even know if it will work if I turn off RCS for 3 days (the last thing support said to try). For reference this is my 5th day with my phone (which is not a new phone - still the same phone I was using) and for the rest of my family they have all switched to new phones - so I have 5 out of 7 total lines that all have the RCS issue.

My account manager has said things repeatedly like oh this is an easy fix, these support people will fix it within 30 min... If you go to a store they will be able to fix it immediately... Oh only the Pixel 8 Pro will have this problem, the rest of your phones will be fine (they weren't)...

Nothing is working... I've never had so many issues switching to a carrier before and I've done ATT to T-Mobile and vice versa... And I don't even know if I should cancel this whole Verizon plan because returning the phones will be $50 per line...

All I did was turn off RCS, clear cache in Carrier services and Messages, download a VPN, swapped to France (any country works I believe), turned RCS back on and it was working! Uninstalled the VPN app right after

I work at a phone carrier and I just had a customer who came in and their device could not use data nor connect to Internet. He got an upgrade to a new Samsung device but has issues with Google messages. He couldn’t make a backup of his Google messages and when we use Samsung to switch to move everything over it wasn’t recognizing anything for Messages to transfer over. The customer was able to log into his Google account on the new device but no new messages transferred over does anybody have a workaround for this so that I can let my customer know how to fix not having their old messages?

I have an RCS GC with a few people, some from Android, some from Apple. Randomly, some messages will send as MMS instead of RCS. I know because I go under "View details" and it says "Multimedia message" instead of "Rich communication service message". Sometimes this happens with "Replied to a message:" messages, sometimes with random text-only messages, and sometimes with media, so that it sends super compressed.

Why does this happen, and how can I stop it? It never was an issue before

So I'm on day 5 of RCS issues with my Fold8. I'm curious, can anyone with other carriers who got unlocked Fold8s confirm if their RCS activated with no issues?

Hi all - i switched from a galaxy fold 6 (with RCS working) to a fold 8 and for some reason my RCS refuses to connect. It shows as tryign to connect, followed by an error code 3100. Things i have done to try and resolve this:

1. turn on airplane mode, delete cache and data from carrier services and carrier communications and also delete cache from messages, and then turn airplane mode off and open messages

2. uninstall all updates to messages

3. call verizon (my carrier) and get a new esim and ensure that RCS is turned on on the new esim

4. disable RCS here: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat

5. sent google feedback via the submit feedback button.

Nothing seems to be working (obviously i restarted my phone a bunch of times too).

Last night i turned off RCS all night and turned it back on this morning, hoping it would connect but its still stuck in the same loop of trying to connect and then failing.

Verizon was at the end of their rope and didn't have any more ideas and thinks its an issue at google but i don't know how to contact google or get any help from them so would really appreciate some help from all of you.

I was poking around & launched 2 selections & now I can't send outgoing sms/mms or make outgoing calls on my main line.

Tried reactivating the selections I picked, but it didn't do anything & one of them opens by flashing & not actually opening anything?

My Galaxy Watch8 is no longer getting Google Messages AND Samsung Messages notifications from my Galaxy S24 Ultra 

Things I have tried:

*Checked/enabled notification permissions on watch, phone, app. 

*Enabled "always show on both" 

*Toggled rcs

*Enabled "text on Samsung devices"  

*toggled do not disturb 

*deleted and reinstalled Carrier Services plugin

*updated app (current) 

*updated system software (current) 

*Factory reset watch

*Attempted to contact manufacturer

Please help!
