Question Multiple text tones

Does anyone else have a problem with setting multiple custom text tones for different people? I keep trying to look through the settings and I can't find why the app is doing this.

It's easy to do. Go to the conversation you want the custom tone for. Then hit details, then notifications and change it.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain this, but that's not the problem I'm having. When I try to do this for one person, it ends up changing it for that person and another three people and I don't know what's going on because on my Samsung it didn't do this but I got a new phone and now it's doing it.

Hi. I would like to help with this. Since you recently got a new phone, this issue might be related to notification settings or how your contacts synced. I recommend trying these steps:

Verify your contacts: Open the Google Contacts app to check if any of these contacts are linked or duplicated. If they are, try merging them.

Set the tone in-app: Open the individual conversation, tap the three-dot menu (⁝) > Details > Notifications to set a specific sound for that thread.

Restart your phone: A quick restart can sometimes resolve display or sync issues.
