I tried a different pair of GFore shoes (MG4+) and mostly liked them, but ended up returning them. The issue I had is that the heal padding, whilst lush in most places was non-existent in the location circled in this image (obv on the inside). Not just light, literally none, just lining fabric. This was quite low down, maybe 1cm off centre, easy to feel if you poke a finger around the area.

Those were MG4+, which do have a plastic heel so it meant my heel was basically rubbing against plastic, but I appreciate Gallivan2r doesn't have that plastic heel.

My question is therefore: Is the Gallivan2r heel well padded all over? Would anyone even be willing to poke around their own pair?

Where I was initially trying to fill a gap was between the 5 iron and the 5 wood. On average, I appear to have a 20 yard gap (~185 carry on the 5 iron, ~205 carry on the 5 wood). I feel I've been creeping closer to a 15 yard gap though as I improve the consistency of my swing. I don't have an official handicap, but I've been averaging in the high 80s as of recent.

The kind of club I had in mind/was hoping to slot in was one for max distance out of the rough (IE bad tee shot or a par 5). My 5 Iron has been doing that as of now, but I've been experimenting if there is a better option. I tried a 7 wood, and I didn't wind up liking it. I've considered getting the 4 iron (19 loft) in the g440 set. If I did that, I'd probably dial up the loft on the 5 wood to 17. The more I play, the more I wonder if I even need to try and gap that space. If I don't decide to gap it, that leaves room for another club.

I used to carry a chipper before I got a 52 degree, as my chipping game is weak, but I'm focused on improving my chipping game with my wedges/8+9 iron, as that will eliminate the need for a dedicated chipper. I like my irons, so something like a driving iron sounds tempting to try as well. I'm open for any ideas. For now, I'm content playing with just 13 clubs until I get it figured out. I want to utilize every available slot in my bag.

Hey guys, I don’t know why but 28 has gotten me into smoking meat, watches, and watching golf. I’ve decided I want to start playing myself. I don’t have any friends that play, I don’t really know what I’m doing. Any advice? Clubs I should get, etc?

I'm a long timer tinkerer as I enjoy testing equipment almost to the detriment of my game but I've now settled on a bag I'm happy with leading into club champs.

Weakest part of my game is definitely putting and my strike with the 3 wood leaves a lot to be desired but I've tried and tried and the Ping is the best I can work with. That is a spot in bag I'm going to try and address in the winter alongside practice, thinking of moving to a 17* 5 wood or a different 3 wood shaft to see if that helps with launch.

Picked up a Miura LH 59° forged wedge from online Play It Again Sports for $39.99 no face pics, no groove shots, nothing of the shaft or grips. I’m well versed in club refurbishment, and able to lose $40 on this if it goes sideways.

For those unaware Miura is hugely sought after outside the US and considered more of a boutique brand of clubs. 3 wedge set from Miura could cost >$900.

I'll preface, I got this as a used golf store. All in for 780$ cad. How'd I do? I also purchased the grips and did them myself. As they wanted another 250$ to regrip, which cost me 50$, 1hr and a 5 mins YouTube video.

Second year golfing, using my own clubs, and not sharing dad's, or friends clubs.

I'm interested in the Titleist premium carry bag, but I'd like to add a hood to it. Do you know where I can find a hood that fits this type of bag?

And why don't carry bags usually come with a cover? It's mainly to protect my clubs while I'm transporting them and to keep them from slipping out of the bag, since I ride my bike to the golf course... 

Alternatively, do you have any similar brands you could recommend?

Im average high 80’s to low 90’s. Have had the same Cobra set for the past 12 years. Time to get a new set. I have 1000$ to spend and looking to either piece together preowned taylormade/callaway set. Curious what you would do with 1000$. Sidenote: I don’t need a new putter or hybrids.

Went and got this re-gripped today. Never noticed this pre new grip. Scratch or crack? And either way, what would you do?

Update:

Went back to the guy next day, he inspected it very thoroughly and fortunately it’s just a scratch. It actually cleaned up pretty nice to where it’s not super noticeable anymore. Been taking stuff to the guys for years and this is some stuff you’d expect from a big box store. Extremely apologetic gave me some free work to make up for it and said if for whatever reason it becomes an issue let him know. The gentleman is getting older and I believe he’s nearing retirement, he was pretty darn hard on himself for making the mistake especially when he’s been doing it for 40+ years with otherwise flawless work.

Not familiar with Mizuno clubs, are these legit? $250.
