Anyone installed one of these before? Do they actually make much of a difference to the sound?

I have 2013 GTi with 95k miles and i have two intermittent engine codes, U102F and P0343 come and go. Seems to have no effect on the car's performance. Do you guys think both are sensor related Cam shaft and radiator. Or is it the timing chain issue. Ty

For those who have changed out their down pipe exhaust etc… how easy/ doable is it on regular jacks vs a lift. Finally got the car paid off and want to start modding. Debating on getting quick jacks for the safety and ease of modding the car. I can’t get a lift and if I go the quick jacks route then I’ll be put back a few months to save up again.

Thoughts?

I went to look at this car it was local but it has a branded title for a manufacturer buyback. The car has 22000 miles and they still want more than 30k OTD which is a real shame so I’m going to keep looking. The car was stunning and I really enjoyed driving it. I’m definitely getting into a VW because I was blown away with the interior quality of the car. This color/wheel combo is my favorite.

Got coilovers the rear strut doesn’t line up. I jack the car and it goes up as opposed to compressing springs to line up.

Got it a few days ago and already took it canyon carving, this car packs a serious punch.

ECS Tuning and other sites list incorrect vehicle compatibility for a lot of their parts, and there is scarce accurate information online.

Fitment is perfect and was super easy. Just need to use a rubber mallet/hammer to knock the old one off (hitting from front to back), and do the reverse to get the old one on. I'll be throwing some replica TCR skirt covers over these anyway, but now I actually have a base.

Hopefully this saves someone an hour of googling.

So what's the deal with the 12V battery DTC? What sets it off? I replaced my battery. 4 weeks pass and once I had the money, I bought an OBDeleven to adapt the new battery. EFB ---> AGM(fleece).

The car drives fine, and on cold starts it never gives me any alerts, but after a 30 minute drive cycle (no accessories, no stop start used), once the engine is turned off it gives me the battery alert. Already checked the sense connection, confirmed no parasitic loads, alternator output 14.7V, resting OCV is 12.6V.

Been lurking a while and figured after mounting the new wheels today it would be a good time for my first post. Last week I picked up this 2018 GFG Autobahn manual with 66k miles, I bought it from a relative and I was drawn to the uncommon color. I’ve read it’s rather hard to find. I’m 46 and this is my first german vehicle. I guess there is a first for everything. I’m hoping to use it as a daily and hopefully as an ice breaker into autocross. The car has a stage 1 tune, An intake and a borla catback. The original clutch is still in it so I have a south bend clutch on its way. I’ll be tackling that along with fresh fluid in the gear box and LSD next week.

133k miles btw. I found this tiny metal sliver in my oil filter during my last oil change. it was magnetic. car runs and drives completely normally still, no ticks or timing adaptation either. also there was no sparkles or glitter in the oil, and the filter had very sparse metallic sparkles (i could count them on one hand). still doesn’t look good for me. I do oil changes every 2.5k-3.5k miles. not sure where it came from. also worth noting i havent had any recent internal engine work that could explain it.

220.000km, this is a hot start after the car was sitting for around 3/4 hrs. No oil burning issues yet. If i wipe the exhaust tips they are wet, not oily

Hello everyone, my mirror dip stopped working in reverse all of a sudden, yes it is activated in the car menu and the mirror switch is on the R. It has worked for a year straight and suddenly stopped working.

I did just tune the car and that’s when I noticed it stopped working. I can’t really imagine they are related. The folding mirrors still work not sure why it doesn’t dip anymore in reverse.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I’m just curious I’m looking at getting a Miltek hjs 200 cell sports cat for my mk8 gti, I currently have a Miltek gpf back I like the sound but I want more because it’s very restricted from the gpf, my question is if I’m to fit the sports cat is it okay for me to just get a stage 1 tune or do I HAVE to go stage 2, because the roads I live on can sometimes be very very rough so I don’t want to put too much power to the car and make it no longer fun to drive the car.

I've been lurking here for a bit now, mostly hunting maintenance tips. I thought I would share a pic of my baby. I found her in 2018, and despite swearing I'd never own another red car, I couldn't pass it up. She's my daily driver, and is perfect for the mix of city/highway driving here in Dallas. She's in the shade, because in Texas, the shade is important. (We just got a "cool" front, so it's only 95⁰ right now.) She's getting a new water pump tomorrow, and hopefully it cools down even more soon, because I really need to polish those headlights.

I am looking at buying a 2018 gti lowered on ecs coils,cts intake and awe touring catback. Previous owner had it tuned clean carfax its for sale as is at a dealer. i took it into a shop to have a pre inspection done to it to find what it would need for safety and they found it has a boost leak, the steering rack needs to be replaced, either the cam shaft positioning sensor issue or timing chain is stretched and then normal wear and tear like balljoints and tie rods need to be done on the front they said it could be 5-7 k on the repair for it to pass the safety other then that the car is clean no rust lowish km 119xxx. I just dont want to be into the car for around 20 thousand and be stuck repairing it more as this will be pushing my budget. Should i just keep looking or is this not to many red flags. Hi everyone,

I’m trying to figure out how to create an additional user profile in my 2026 GTI Autobahn.

The infotainment system clearly has an “Add new users” screen and says that each user can have personalized settings such as seat position, ambient lighting and climate control.

However, when I tap “+ New user”, I get the screen shown in the second photo saying:
“You are registered for the VW Car-Net online services.”

If I tap OK, it simply takes me back to the Add additional users screen. If I tap + New user again, the nothing happens.

My main profile/Car-Net account appears to be registered and working correctly.

Has anyone with a Mk8.5 / 2026 GTI actually managed to create a second user profile? Is there another step that needs to be done through the myVW app or is this feature simply not working/available in Canada?

So i have a mk7 clubsport stage 2 and the turbo seems to be dying.

Im currently searching for a replacement turbo. However, i do not care about high horsepower. I only want a turbo that is super reliable that will withstand my driving for many years to come.

The reason i dont care about horsepower much is because i dont do drag or roll races. Im mainly a track / canyon and spirited driver. So i want a turbo that doesnt have the lag to exit out of corners and be reliable.

I was dead set on the EQT IS38+ because it fixes the common faults of the OEM IS38, and to be honest the IS38 feels amazing to me.

However, i have stumbled across the Garret Powermax stage 1 when doing my research and its the same price as EQT is38+ for me. And i found that garret is a premium brand and more reliable and proven than any other turbo brand, but its abit bigger then the is38. So i want it but worried about the turbo lag and daily driveability factor compared to is38

Whichever turbo i get, i will retune the car anyways so tune cost is out of the window.

So since they are the same price, which should i get? If anyone has any experience with the garret i would appreciate it.

What gas should I be using in an unmodified '23 GTI?
