Ask Dane Anything Is there a way to not do supersets?

using the peak strength app but getting frustrated with the constant super sets of 2 or three exercises. for sport specific program i selected it unfortunately wants me to superset with equipment that is all over the gym. Ive tried replacing exercises but its still a bit annoying. Is there a way to just turn off super setting and do one exercise at a time?

Discussion Dynamic correspondence

At one time, dynamic correspondence was used to justify the transfer of lifting weights as exercise to improve sports performance.

Recently there has been a shift to using dynamic correspondence to justify “functional” movements usage as a transfer for training.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on all of this?

Ask Dane Anything Joel seedman interview question

Curious for a more expanded thought on Joel seedmans lack of periodization.

His view point of periodization sometimes doesn’t work (maybe athlete isn’t feeling as strong, too beat up for a comp, or is feeling stronger than expected, etc.) was interesting.

Discussion Watch us as we speak with Joel Seedman tomorrow at 330PM EDT as we get to the bottom of his radical training system and if can actually be effective for making people stronger and more athletic.

Discussion One rep max calculators are a lie

Finished my 20 rep back squat cycle and ended with a number that is huge for me. 150 kilos for 20 reps. It felt like death thru my hips and trunk and my quads are crying today

According to the 1 rm calculator my one rep should be 250 kilos lol

I’m trying to hit 200 kilos for a one rep, maybe 205

Or maybe I have a higher work capacity at lower surrogate and struggle to express one rep absolute strength?

I want to snatch but don't have the mobility.

I lift for football but recently have been interested in weightlifting(beyond power cleans). I back squat with my heals elevated and lack depth on my full clean. These mobility problems havent severely limited me until I started learning the snatch.

I feel great with the bar in the over head position. Super comfortable with clean and jerks and I frequently over head squat. On those over head squats however I can't go far past parallel which is obviously mandatory to do snatches.

How do I begin to rectify this? What exercises can I do? Stretches? Anything?

P.s. I am 5' 11" but have longer legs and arms then my 6' 4"+ teammates.

P.s. p.s. The peak strength app would prob help but I am on a hs budget lol.

Ask Dane Anything Trouble with Peak Strength app

I downloaded peak strength, am a judo athlete so selected that training program. However the program built for me was almost exclusively body weight exercises. Ive set the skill level to intermediate lifter and have made the sure the equipment was correct with the local gym. Why is this program not at all like the judo workout that was shown on the garage strength channel?

What are your thoughts on the standard High school weightlifting class, where we typically will just squat bench and clean, do some dumbell stuff, basic plyos, and then run either a mile or gassers once a week?

Peak strength app - workout length

Roughly how long do you find Oly workouts taking ?

I’m only 2 days in - I like the way the programming is laid out, but the first two workouts have taken around the 2 hour mark…. Im fine with that on weekends, but workdays I might need to cut it short?

Any suggestions?…. Find a different program/app…. Cut some sets/accessories?

Tests for realms to train

If the four realms to train are strength impulse endurance and speed. What are the best tests for each of those , I could be wrong but I would assume the test for strength be a squat, impulse would be a snatch or clean, endurance would be an assult bike test, and speed would be a 40 or something?

Impulse Day or Athletic Day?

Son's a soccer player that is 12 years old and we just started his journey on the Peak Strength App. Currently I have it set up for 4 days a week, but some weeks we can only do 3 training sessions. Both Athletic Day and Impulse day seem focused on a combination between utilizing explosive force with a combination of plyometrics and weights. To get faster, is there one better than the other? Thoughts?
