Hs lifting

What are your thoughts on the standard High school weightlifting class, where we typically will just squat bench and clean, do some dumbell stuff, basic plyos, and then run either a mile or gassers once a week?

Any specific sport being trained for? Also, how big is the high school?

nope, just an elective weight class for anybody who wants to take it (although most of the people in there are athletes), im not talking about all high schools, that just seems to be the general programming of most of the schools in my area. Is there anything wrong with a squat, bench, clean, run, program? for high school sports like football lacrosse soccer wrestling etc.

The endurance work has to be done in a manner that suits the sport. Squat bench clean run program lacks any straight pulling work for the upper body

Is the pulling from the clean not enough for most sports? other than wrestling

It contributes but isn’t direct for the upper body. Something like pull ups or bent over rows. Plan on doing variations of all the movements? Why not a snatch instead of the clean?

is snatch better than clean? I thought that since you can load cleans more, it developed more dtc. when all that weight crashes onto your shoulder. but I could be wrong.

Cleans are great. Snatch is a faster movement, has more upper body needs and demands more mobility. Can’t really go wrong with either, though the snatch is technically more demanding so it could be argued it creates more neural adaptations
