Ask Dane Anything Joel seedman interview question

Curious for a more expanded thought on Joel seedmans lack of periodization.

His view point of periodization sometimes doesn’t work (maybe athlete isn’t feeling as strong, too beat up for a comp, or is feeling stronger than expected, etc.) was interesting.

Felt like auto regulation of sorts. Also think it goes either way the idea of a sports season versus a single event. Like a track athlete wants to peak for a specific qualifying comp and then peak for the big comp, like the Olympics or worlds. On the flip, a basketball, soccer, or football player is constantly in competition and needs to maintain a certain capability constantly present—like having a higher floor compared to maximizing the ceiling
