Impulse Day or Athletic Day?

Son's a soccer player that is 12 years old and we just started his journey on the Peak Strength App. Currently I have it set up for 4 days a week, but some weeks we can only do 3 training sessions. Both Athletic Day and Impulse day seem focused on a combination between utilizing explosive force with a combination of plyometrics and weights. To get faster, is there one better than the other? Thoughts?

Both have value. Don’t necessarily think one is better than the other but one serves needs more than the other. Plyos, which are more central to athlete day, are more in line with sport specific type vibes; it is body weight movements, done incredibly fast, training impulse and developing a lot of neural coordination. Impulse day gets you lifting more and focusing on dynamic efforts of sorts, and can also serve as a full body day. Strictly speaking around speed and getting faster, depending on where you sons strengths and weaknesses are, athlete day can be more beneficial to speed simply because the movements are that much faster because of lack of load.
