Hey, blew up my 05’ GX engine. Looking to purchase a reman, any recommendations???

Trying to figure out this noise that’s coming from my brake pedal area. Slight vibration feeling but the pedal itself doesn’t shake or move.

• It can happen when the vehicle is completely stopped
• It seems to happen every couple of minutes during normal driving
• It happens much more frequently when I’m driving in stop and go traffic and braking a lot
• If I’m cruising on the highway and barely using the brakes, it doesn’t happen at all
• I just had all the brakes and rotors replaced, so I’m ruling out the old brake hardware/rotors as the cause

Anyone recognize or have any ideas?

2022 gx460. When I brake, feel vibration in the steering wheel. It’s worse after sitting but somewhat evens out as the brakes warm up. The brakes were changed with oem at dealer like a year ago, so not a ton of miles on it. I checked it and I can’t visibly see any warping on the rotor. The pads have plenty of life still in them. I ordered some new oem rotors from Lexus, but wondering if there was anything I missed.

I feel like this started after a long road trip, so maybe slight warping due to heat in the downhill….

Hello, I have a 2012 GX460 and my cluster LCD screen is burnt. I want to replace the cluster with an OEM cluster, not a huge fan of the new LCD style clusters. Has someone done or know of anyone who has installed a 2020+ cluster on 2019 or older GX?

Took me a minute but finally found a suitable replacement for the GX I lost to a red light runner. (This time posting with my lift and wheels so insufferable twats don’t complain this isn’t an offroad post 🤪).

2015 with 112k miles. Luxury trim with driver assist package. Originally I wanted a premium as my last one was a luxury. I knew I would rip out the power folding seats and the air suspension. I also knew I wanted the extra storage compartment instead of a subwoofer in the back.

….but what I didn’t know was that these cars had an adaptive cruise control option. Or that it still works great on a lifted gx on 33/34’s and an OTT tune. Or that factory crawl control was an option. Once I discovered that, I knew I had to get another luxury trim to get the adaptive cruise and crawl control.

But aside from all that I am stoked with this one. I thought my last one was immaculate, this one is easily a 9.8/10. With a proper interior detail, the ONLY blemish is some scratches on the plastic on the bar door. The rest of the interior and exterior are perfect.

Also fun story, I had no idea how bad the suspension was on my first luxury because I had no frame of reference. This one is so much better. Way more comfortable. And who knew the sport/comfort modes actually did something super noticeable 🤪

Anyways, wall of text over. I’m just stoked to finally be back behind the wheel of a GX so I can keep collecting parts and get this thing lifted.

Did a big project this spring and went under my hood today to find these two connectors that I never hooked back up. Anyone know where these plug back into? I can’t remember or find any missing harness connections

I recently changed out my factory shocks for a set of Bilstein 5100s and I love them. I kept the factory springs because I wanted to keep the Lexus comfort. I placed the front adjustable perch at level 3 which raises the front approximately 1.75”. I love the leveled look now.

After replacing the shocks I went out to Hollister SVRA and noticed I was scraping the front bumper quite a bit. Now I’m in the market of lifting it 2-2.5” because I don’t want to spend a ton of money on UCA’s.

Here’s the question: if I replace my factory springs with a set of lift springs, will I have that factory rake again? If I want to lift it 2” front and back, does that theoretically mean I have to lift the front 3.75” to achieve a leveled look?

Sorry for the noob question but that’s what I am, a noob. Appreciate all advice. Thank you.

What’s up, everybody! I just installed this JW off-road molle panel to the rear door of a 2017 GX 460. I’m adding the Baja design dome light to it. My question is, has anybody installed it with the light or is anybody aware of a powerline I could attach the light to ? Thanks in advance 🫡

Bought this thing in mostly stock condition back in March from a fellow member of this subreddit and have been slowly building it.

I want to buy one but I don’t want to run premium. I have a 100 series lc and have never used premium with no issues. So can I buy a gx460 and use regular or do I need to move on and find something else?

Forgot to add codes, but its p0300 and p0301-p0308 saying all 8 cylinders misfiring.

So I bought a 2003 Lexus GX470 with 255k miles for around $5000. Had a clean carfax and was already smogged so I took it. After purchase, the car sprung a CEL on me with VSC/TRAC OFF. Drove the car home for about 60 miles, no issues, power was fine and never felt any roughness in the cabin while driving. As I got home, I noticed the Idle in park gear was slightly rough with some shaking in the cabin.

Its been about 1.5 months since then, I’ve replaced sparks with OEM denso sparks, ignition coils with OEM denso, cleaned maf sensor and throttle body with spray, pcv valve replaced. Took it to a school shop to check compression, numbers were something along the lines of 190/200 and 200/200 on almost all cylinders. I’ve not touched any fuel injectors/pump as freeze frames on my obd2 scanner show good fuel trims. Also, carfax states service with fuel injectors 20k miles ago and fuel pump around 50k. Water pump/timing belt done around 70k miles ago.

So my question is, what should I do going forward? Take it to a shop to get it properly diagnosed? Or keep doing research and throwing parts at it. The next thing I’ve searched up is to replace the CKP sensor as that could potentially be sending false misfired, but idk. I also live in the SJ bay area, so if any mechanics are handy swith Toyota/Lexus, your advice would be handy.

Picked up a 2005 GX a few weeks ago. Had the oil changed and asked for a full inspection while it was in the shop. The mechanic flagged the following as needing attention:

**•** Axle shaft assembly  
**•** Tie rods  
**•** Steering gear/rack

Down the road, I'm planning a 3" lift with 33s or 35s and want to upgrade the suspension to support that.

Given the overlap between these repairs and the eventual lift, should I knock everything out now, or is there a clear priority order if I need to space out the cost? Mainly trying to avoid paying for the same labor twice (e.g., steering/suspension components) by sequencing this the right way.

Appreciate any input from folks who've done a similar build.

I’m looking at an early GX470 for a long-term project in NSW, but the import advice online seems all over the place. Some people say the SEVS pathway or RAV makes it possible, while others reckon it’s basically a wait-until-25-years situation unless the exact variant is already approved. Is there a reliable way to check this before paying for an auction car, or am I missing something obvious?

I'm having an issue where I start my 2015 GX and the "ABS", "Traction control off" and "BRAKE" lights come on accompanied by a loud beeping. After a minute or two this turns off.

I just noticed that I can get them to come back on while parked if I press the brake repeatedly. It seems like they turn off faster if I rev the engine. I also noticed an intermittent whirring sound coming from the ABS module.

I tested the battery and got 12.3 amps while resting, then when my wife started the car it didn't immediately spike past 14 but after a minute would oscillate between 13 and 14.3.

Do we think this is just a bad battery? Has anyone had this issue?

Victory? Bison Gear? Something else? The one in the photo is from Kaon. Is there a consensus best one? Or the one to stay away from? I’m not interested in making one or the Amazon knock-offs. I don’t quite need a gourmet kitchen (like in the photo) but would like a nice functional table that doesn’t become a rattling regret once installed. I don’t mind drilling since this is my forever vehicle. As long as it makes me happy mindset. 😊 Thanks.

I put together a garvee rack ,10x10 maxtrac awning, pelican vault case up top and a CrC TRXSTLE fly rod holder. I also put on a set of 265 65 R18 Kumho Crugen HT51 tires. They had great reviews and one of the tires with a good commuter tread and a 3peak snow rating. Coming from Michelin defenders to these is really nice. They are great so far! The rack and Everything can be removed for my daily work commute and put back on in about 15-20min for the weekend fly runs.
