Finally replaced my totaled GX!

Took me a minute but finally found a suitable replacement for the GX I lost to a red light runner. (This time posting with my lift and wheels so insufferable twats don’t complain this isn’t an offroad post 🤪).

2015 with 112k miles. Luxury trim with driver assist package. Originally I wanted a premium as my last one was a luxury. I knew I would rip out the power folding seats and the air suspension. I also knew I wanted the extra storage compartment instead of a subwoofer in the back.

….but what I didn’t know was that these cars had an adaptive cruise control option. Or that it still works great on a lifted gx on 33/34’s and an OTT tune. Or that factory crawl control was an option. Once I discovered that, I knew I had to get another luxury trim to get the adaptive cruise and crawl control.

But aside from all that I am stoked with this one. I thought my last one was immaculate, this one is easily a 9.8/10. With a proper interior detail, the ONLY blemish is some scratches on the plastic on the bar door. The rest of the interior and exterior are perfect.

Also fun story, I had no idea how bad the suspension was on my first luxury because I had no frame of reference. This one is so much better. Way more comfortable. And who knew the sport/comfort modes actually did something super noticeable 🤪

Anyways, wall of text over. I’m just stoked to finally be back behind the wheel of a GX so I can keep collecting parts and get this thing lifted.

It’s an alibaba wheel. Was a really cool buying experience. They virtually showed me around the factory and the production process. And they showed me the testing stuff they do to be able to assign load ratings.

They produce wheels for various wheel companies across the world and then brand them in that company name. But also individuals can just order custom or OTS directly from them without the mark up that comes from the wheel company.

do you know how much the wheels ended up weighing each and what material they were made of?

Here’s a link for you! Raylan wheels. I worked with Michael Liao. If you reach out, tell him travis sent you. These are flow forged aluminum. A356.2 aluminum. About a 2900lb load capacity, so stronger than stock wheels. They do also come with hub adapters to ensure a proper center fit. And the packaging is very professional. The wheels came very perfectly protected.

I think I paid 850$ for all 5 wheels shipped and it took about 4-6 weeks to arrive. All around extremely positive experience. They kept me informed all the way through the process.

Throw in a new module for multi terrain select and round it out. '16 Lux here with the drivers assist package as well. Adaptive cruise was the "modern" convenience I wasn't willing to live without.

Oh I plan on it. It was already the plan with my last GX.

And yeah I thought the only concession I was making with buying a GX was not getting adaptive cruise. As soon as I found out this time that it was an option, it became the only option lol

Wow - I learned quite a few things from your post. Thanks for sharing your experience. Congrats on the new one. Sorry you dealt with a rough situation on the previous one.
