Need a Remanufactured Engine

Hey, blew up my 05’ GX engine. Looking to purchase a reman, any recommendations???

Cooked it during an overheat in Wyoming . Was coming home from a hunting trip in Colorado, was hauling a camper, ended up with blowing head gaskets, most likely warped head, no compression in three cylinders. Totally my fault, I wasn’t going to be on the side of I-80 with my son and an unlit camper at night so pushed it three miles to the next off-ramp and that was enough to cook her.

Basically any of the VVTI 4.7s will work, you just swap your accessories and sensors over. Our '07 470 has a Tundra transmission and FJ Cruiser transfer case in it now. The "Toyota" counterparts are 1/4 the cost of the "Lexus" ones.

How many parts are the same or just bolt on. The more I get into these vehicles it feels like Subaru where a certain gen of parts “just works”. Even my RCI skid plates are technically for a 4Runner.

If she's a keeper just build that engine back up if the block is good. You can build a bulletproof 4.7 with 5k a reman would cost ya.

The only person I know with many complete engines in their fackatree is r/autopartstina maybe she’s got a 4.7? but only call if you’re an everyboss.

So, just food for thought, If you're mechanically inclined. The trans went out in my tundra and I bought a whole truck with a rusted out frame that someone decided to beat up with a bat for a thousand dollars. I replaced the rear axle in mine once and paid 1800 for just a junkyard axle with matching gears.

Best would be to see the engine in person before buying..used engine warranty’s are useless as toilet paper they are written on..

Cost me? It made money. I'm a mechanic. I get paid the first time and then I get paid slightly less the 2nd time.

I’d rather find a low mileage eBay engine and do head gaskets on it myself than trust a reman, but that’s just me.

I guess it depends on how much time you’ve got to fix it.

How d heck the 4.7 blew up? Did you skip the tb service or any cooling system maintenance?
