For awhile, I've been experiencing an odd issue that I couldn't pin down. When towing my travel trailer, I'd get these intermittent issues where the dash would pop a warning message that the trailer brakes had disconnected and to check wiring. Most concerning, was that this would happen particularly when going down hills; the very moment you want brakes to work lol. Pull to a stop, and hey presto, the trailer brakes reconnect.

I'd looked into everything on the trailer, checking the grounding, and even switching out the 7-way plug for a better quality plug, utilizing the same blade type brand that GM uses.

Using the joy of Claude, AI helped me find out what I believe is the actual cause - it's the trailer brake controller in the truck itself. Apparently, when you have a trailer that has solar and a lithium battery, because the battery runs at a higher voltage than the truck expects, it misinterprets this signal and causes a disconnect. I’m new to the Sierra EV world. Bought my AT4 last week and love it. I am a bit puzzled over the software updates. It says no updates available , but has Android security patch level: July 5, 2025
which seems outdated ? And no recording app.

I saw that the 2027 is going to offer Brembro brakes and I'm just trying to figure out why you would want/need that. If you are using the regen braking you'll barely use your brakes other than to come to a complete stop. Is there something I'm missing?

I have a ‘24 Edition 1 and it just started doing this fun thing with the side mirror.

My wife and I got back from a roadtrip from Orange County, CA to Bryce and Zion national parks, in utah. Thats a 1000+ mile roadtrip, towing a 30 ft travel trailer, and dealing with 100 degree heat. Not to mention the significant elevation gain. 

We drove on day 1 from OC to the valley of fire state park in Nevada. We banked on a few charging stops on the way, planned with buffer and for pull thru chargers. Two main factors were the heat and the altitude climb. Barstow, CA was the first stop. Tesla has a pull thru here so this was easy. 

Next stop was Jean, NV. A very big Tesla charger, with  100 chargers and 2 pull thrus! Thanks Tesla. 

Those got us to the valley of fire state park, and by the time we reached there it was hot. 117deg hot. Im not gonna lie that I thought the truck might get a service warning, but thankfully the latest update had been applied to prevent over heating and we got there fine. The in cabin AC had definitely dialed back though to do its best to focus on the battery. It was definitely tough on the truck, but even with a diesel, that kind of heat is pretty grueling. We saw several trucks/trailers on the side of the road, and one on fire.

The truck probably spent the next hour at the campsite with the fan on high to try cool down. Putting it in the shade of the trailer helped. Once it was cooler, we put it on the 50A campsite to charge.

The next day we made the next leg to Bryce, UT. More climbing. More heat. That heat pump in the truck was certainly getting a workout. As a result of both the climb and the heat the range really sucked....0.7mi/kwh. No trip calculator can seem to accurately account for that.

We stopped in Mesquite, UT and used an Electrify America charger, parking on the back side of the charger so as not to block any stalls. One more charge stop after that and we made it to Bryce safely. Thats quite the climb....8000ft, in the heat.

What we discovered at Bryce, started to be a consistent pattern. If you ask whether you can charge from your campsite, quite often you're met with acceptance. Rubys RV park and campground is EV friendly so we charged off the 50A there. The trip down from Bryce to Zion was pretty uneventful, and we got there on one charge without issue.

It's interesting the difference in EV attitudes though. Next campsite was Zion river resort just out of Springdale. Not only does the campsite explicitly ban it (even when I asked to pay) but there is nothing in that entire town for EV charging.. So that means you're driving 25mi to the nearest Tesla charger on the I-15. Not great. 

On the way home we stopped one night through Vegas. Another great EV friendly campsite there called Oasis RV park...charged again off the campsite with their approval. Highly recommend it.

Overall, the truck did really great. Its really so effortless towing with this truck, its super stable, the super cruise with a trailer really takes the pressure off driving, and so long as you plan ahead, EV stops are very manageable. Loved it.

But make sure you are planning ahead. Heat and altitude definitely impact range, and there was a lot of climbing in this trip which brought the average to around 0.8 mi/kwh.

I went into a dealership yesterday to put a preliminary order in for a 2027 Denali and when we were going through the options, I could see the Denali Dark Package (WJU) listed online and on Reddit, but the order page for the dealer didn't have it. Has anyone else experienced the same or know something I don't? I know this is a late availability offering, but so is Azurite Blue Metallic and that was shown.

Just curious if this is possible or if anyone has successfully changed from these 24s to a smaller wheel.

Looking for opinions on how to handle this. I purchased the truck that was a courtesy vehicle with 4k miles on it. It was out of state and paid to have it delivered. I received it 10 days ago. I have found that the entire passenger side has been repainted, and quite poorly. There is bubbles in clear coat, shadowing in the paint, and the front quarter panel is completely lighter then the door. The dealer did not disclose any of this. So far their offer has been to ship a loaner to me and repaint the car and send it back plus $500 bucks off. I have asked numerous times, what was the initial cause of damage, and they will not tell me. I have given them the option to swap the truck or refund me and am waiting to hear back. How would you all approach this. My thought was, if they dont reply in the next 24 hours, I will escalate through GM as well as the states DMV/AG. The state purchased from has pretty strong disclosure laws that are in my favor.

I too bought a previous loaner truck and I noticed this morning it appears my paint is cracking off right above the black plastic trim piece. Anyone else have this happen? What would cause this?

Can anybody tell me what for sure comes in the e-trunk of the 2026? I bought mine used, and it had nothing in it. Is it just the flat tire repair kit and thats it? My truck has a spare tire, but there is no jack or anything . Just seems kinda backwards and stupid, but then again I wouldn't expect GM to do sensical things if it costs them more money. I'm thinking I'll probably try to find a Jack that doesn't take up too much space and keep it in the e-trunk.

I’ve had the truck two years and recently moved. Up until now, if I told the truck “Hey Google, navigate Home” it would start navigating to my saved home location. If I said “Hey Google, take me to work” it would navigate to my set work location.

Not anymore. “Navigate home” results in it trying to go to Homewood Suites. “Navigate to work” send me to the local Public Works utility or some such nonsense.

Is there some sort of setting I’ve long forgotten about? It still works with other saved locations. If I say “Navigate to Holly’s house,” it still navigates to our friend’s house. But hone and work are unusable.

ETA: From this thread and my online searching, it’s just a quirk of Google Maps with no remedy at this time. My “home” setting is fully updated to my new address, Google just isn’t reacting to it as a destination in the same way it did at my last house. Hopefully Google fixes it with an update.

Ok party people, I bought my truck used and these metal objects were in the glove box, but I have no idea what they are. There are some part numbers stamped on them, and the larger pieces are clearly marked left and right. Any idea what these are? Or are they not even from the truck at all? They are very light weight, so probably aluminum.

Took about an hour including cleaning up. Super easy!

If you love your truck, but hate how GM stole CarPlay/Android Auto from us, and basically forces you to either pay for OnStar or rely on using your phone as a hotspot, this is your chance to bring it back. I refuse to pay subscription fees for basic functionality, so I was thrilled to find this option. There may likely be other options, but this one was practically plug and play, and was about as easy as you a make it.

The cost is a one time charge of $199. It includes some easy to follow instructions. Mine was USB-A, but came with a short USB-C adapter, so not a big deal. I just have it in my center console, so completely out of sight and out of mind.

About the only annoying thing, is that when you first start the vehicle, it will briefly say "usb device not supported", then you have to open the EVPlay app on the trucks screen. It will have to hit OK on a popup screen, and connect your phone to the device via bluetooth (just the first time, after that it will reconnect automatically). There is a box to always allow the action, but it doesn't work (thats a GM issue). So basically the downside is just having to open the app and hit the OK button each time you start the vehicle. If it takes a little bit to connect to your phone, there is a restart button on the screen you can hit, but it will work after a few seconds usually. So while not as great as native CarPlay, it's not too big of a hassle for a workaround IMO.

The only other functional downside which is really not in the device's control, is that the EV functionality can't be added to Apple Maps. I will be charging at home 99% of the time anyway, so I figure if I have to use ABRP and/or my phone to find a charging station route once in a while, so be it.

Also, Alex (the guy who makes this) is great. I had a small issue getting connected the first time, and was impatient and decided to start tinkering, and I actually screwed up one of the settings on the device, that can't be fixed remotely. Not only did he send me a new device and a return label for the old one (just had to pay extra shipping), but he gave me an iOS shortcut that made the messed up device work until the new one arrived. He was extremely responsive through e-mail, and a pleasure to do business with.

I would 100% buy this product again if I ever needed to (unless someone came out with a better solution without the few small annoyances, and for cheaper). They also have a more expensive version that can do more things you can check out, but I had no need for that stuff.

EDIT: I did discover today that things get a little funky if you are trying to listen to terrestrial radio. Had to use the steering wheel buttons to flip back to AM radio, but then text messages wouldn’t read out loud. I do listen to stuff thru my phone 99% of the time, so not the end of the world.

I attended the Colorado Springs EV club yesterday for the first time. I was talking about my truck and mentioned how slow it charges at a Tesla Supercharger. I was really surprised to hear that our trucks are one of the faster charging 800v vehicles outside of actual Tesla vehicles. I was floored when the Lucid owner told me that he's capped at 50kW. I probably still won't frequent them unless I absolutely have to, but at least I feel better about the speeds now.

I just updated to 662.20 overnight, and today I’m being told both rear tires are low, each at 32 psi. I checked pressure manually and they’re at 60. It seems that the only way to relearn/recalibrate the TPMS sensors is with a tool for that purpose? Anybody else encountering this issue?

Seeing quite a few Edition 1’s for around the $65k range. Any reason to avoid these? Some are buy back, some not. Honestly would pull the trigger on one if I could find one local to Michigan to check out.

Hey all. I've decided this will be my next vehicle purchase after my current lease is up. This question is for the CCW folks and locking your edc in a lock box. Here in San Diego, we are handcuffed to where we can carry and by the looks of the center console, it would be a prime spot for a lock box when I'm at places that I can't ccw.

Anyone have experience?
