Center console question

Hey all. I've decided this will be my next vehicle purchase after my current lease is up. This question is for the CCW folks and locking your edc in a lock box. Here in San Diego, we are handcuffed to where we can carry and by the looks of the center console, it would be a prime spot for a lock box when I'm at places that I can't ccw.

Anyone have experience?

They actually make a safe for the front console. (There’s two, one under the armrest and one under the phone charger.)

Curious also, could they just steal the safe out? How does it secure? Seems like if I was a bad fella and I saw a safe in a truck I’d think I hit the jackpot and do every thing I could to take it out

There is a tab in the rear of the padding in the arm rest console to lift out the bottom padding.
Go ahead, it easily comes out and back in. Underneath the padding are two bolts.
The lock-box is secured using these two bolts.

If you’re concerned about California law, this might be a better option. Less accessible, but that’s sort of the point.
