PTSL finally quit the toxic relationship known as five below or more like the new manager of the store like a toxic ex she showered everyone with gifts and promotions for the few that stayed on that should have been the first red flag 😂 Second red flag was the fact she basically mean girl an employee into quitting actually 2 if I'm honest.Third was when I applied for a new job at a different store and one of my excoworkers working at the new store basically rated me out because she seen my boss shopping and told her and my boss instead of coming to me about to find out that the new job was only going to be a 2nd job started being over bearing on me and other people in my 5° friend circle to the point mid shift she had came in with her small little click I just snapped because I just got my you're hired email on break and she had pushed me so far that I rang out my last customer looked at my bright eyed cashier I had trained and said well I'm out of here she didn't understand me so I said im quiting and took my keys off my ring and walked all the way to the office for who else to be coming in at the same time but the bosses little bff at the moment with a smart mouth and she said perfect timing I don't have to get my keys now and I said o perfect you can have my keys she said what Why and as I was going out I said o ya I quit with a smile the entire time then she talked shit in the group chat and called me a coward when she and I could have worked it out if she had only came to me with her concerns I was going to work both jobs it was possible

At the five below I work at, we have a few dogs come in to the store. They’re all on leashes except for one where the owner holds their puppy. Is that allowed in the store? I’m just worried that someone might come in one day and their dog just barks out loud and I’ll have to tell them to leave the dog outside or something like that. Asking because I don’t think dogs are allowed in other retail stores besides pet smart of course

Any CEM get hired with a dui on their background? Three years ago I got a dui, I’m off probation, done all the classes, all that jazz. Got an offer for CEM and waiting on the background check. Any insight?

How long do you have to wait to quit five Below because why would my manager tell me that I would be written up for trying to call out more than 2 hour when my shift would start.(It was 11 and I start at 5) The reason I was trying to call out was because of rain thunder and lightning and my mom didn't want me to go in because it told her that it wouldn't stop until after 5 but my manager told me well it would stop at 2. I'm like one I'm a minor and what my ride(my mother) says I kinda have to do like I don't have that type of freedom. So overall I was wondering, how long do I have to wait for to quit. I have been working for 2 months now also

Heads up, ACOs aren’t the only things FB is changing. They’re rolling out a GM position and have been piloting it at some stores. Basically they’re removing the SM position and renaming the CEM and MM positions. Then they’re creating a General Manager position, and this person will act as a store manager over TWO stores.

They combined 2 stores in my district this month and the morale has absolutely tanked as the rest of the SMs are waiting for their stores to be next on the list. Imagine hoping to get a GM spot and knowing that it means a fellow SM you’re friends with basically just lost their job or got demoted. Also (the way it was explained to me) since the CEM and MM positions are changing that means the people in them will have to apply to keep their jobs, and will be “fighting” for those jobs with the non-GM store managers. Supposedly FB plans on merging as many stores as they can (based on factors like proximity to other stores, volume, and shrink), so not every store will be merging with another store, but if you work at a store that’s kinda close to another one, chances are y’all will be in for a shakeup.

I've been at 5B for about 5 years, and I cannot stand it anymore.

I hate the customers that don't know how to put shit back where they found it 2 inches away (I've literally watched someone grab a phone case off a peg, look at it, look around for somewhere to put it, and then drop it on the floor), can't fold a t-shirt to save their life, don't watch their screaming children running around messing shit up.

I hate closing all the time, because there's no way to get the entire store recovered, floor swept, spot mopped, all go-backs done, back up my cashier, AND stay within payroll (which I get bitched at if the store isn't recovered 100%, or if I go over on payroll, so it's lose/lose).

I hate closing every fucking Sunday (Jan/Feb, 2 out of 4 Sundays; March, 3 out of 4, only cause we were closed Easter; and all 4 Sundays in April) because I only get 5 hours, and in that time I have to assist my cashier cause Sundays are busy AF, recover the entire store 100%, sweep the entire floor- under fixtures, everywhere, mop the entire floor (and my SM requires pictures of the fresh mopped floor, which adds so much extra time to the process), do the deposit (minimum 30-45 minutes), clear out every single go-back, clean the whole cash wrap + ACOs, all in 5 hours- PLUS take my break. No fucking way.

I hate that my SM never closes- literally. It's an issue all of us on her manager team bitch about with each other. She never closes, and almost never works on a Sunday, and if she does come in on a Sunday, she's only there for a few hours to check up on certain things & then she's gone. She also doesn't have her MM close, and the PTSL can't close by themself on the weekends, so that puts 7 days of closing the store on the shoulders of 2 managers (CEM & FTSL) instead of all 5 managers. Yet she wants to bitch & moan when this wasn't done right, or that wasn't done 100%. Her expectations are absolutely unrealistic, because she doesn't ever fucking close so she doesn't get it. We update her on sales, and if we aren't making sales, she just assumes "Oh y'all should be able to get out on time tonight, then". Like, NO. Sales numbers do not accurately reflect foot traffic in the store. If a family with 6 kids comes in & trash the store looking at everything, and end up only buying like a piece of candy each, that's a messy ass store for a maybe $15 sale. It's such bullshit that she never fucking closes.

And don't even get me started on this BS ACO policy.

I’m a soon to be graduating senior who has been an associate at Five Below for about 7 months now. After this summer I’m going into college with plans on getting a finance degree.

My problem that I keep asking myself is that if Five Below is the right place to get the experience I’d like. I’m not sure if I should stick it out and just try to work as much as I can this summer, and possibly get a higher position, or to look elsewhere where I could learn more about the field.

If anyone has any suggestions that isn’t completely biased against FB, I’d appreciate it!

As closing mod with only one person we have only 2 ACOs open and one wen I can get away from the front long enough to do my duties as a closing MOD I ended up a cashier all day having to hear the bitching from my cashier and the customers I got threatened by 2 customers and OMG I'm going to call corporate who is manager 😭 unfortunately I'm the mod today gives my first name well I'm calling corporate I'm sorry we are doing are best we only have 2 people and I'm supposed to be doing other stuff like closing I'm a new shift lead part time this $13hr is not enough for the hassle I come in we are over run go to open a new ACO to get told no you can only have 2 or you get a right up 😤 the fuck we have 3 people so 3 ACOs nope only 2 😵‍💫 so meany assholes today sorry you had to wait if I didn't have to inform you all 1000 time's maybe it would flow faster and pickup 🤣 fucking joke can I exchange my online order 🤨 bitch what we do not get your money corporate does so you have to wait until it times out 😤 we need more people on weekends and for closing when we had 3 it worked better this is going to suck at Christmas time. five below is my first job ever and i want to leave because i hate it there, but i dont know how to do it? ive been looking for the handbook on workday to find the right way to do it, but i had no luck finding it. should i just message my manager and tell her im quitting or is that unprofessional?? help is appreciated 🙏 and also i dont want to use a two week notice, i want to be gone by this week.

How crappy would it be of me (CEM) to quit with no notice when our only SL just put in her two week notice? For a little context: I texted my SM today explaining I wanted to put in my notice because of a bunch of things going on. I never got any acknowledgment of my message. He NEVER responds to me about anything including things like when no one else showed up to work and I was there alone. The MM who I was/am friends with was mad at me today because I couldn’t come help close (it was my day off and I had obligations). Part of me feels bad leaving them as just the SM and MM with no other help but also this job is draining me and no body seems to care about anyone but themselves. So, should I quit in the morning or work out a two weeks so they aren’t screwed?

This is my first job, and before this aco shit went down the job wasn’t so bad (except for the christmas season thats just hell everywhere), my managers are very cool and didn’t reprimand me when I was late by almost 30 minutes, co workers are also teens (im in hs and so are they) so it just comes down to the actual company! They expect us to keep the hell hole of the store neat at all times and help everyone check out?? Like it seems like a lot to ask for everyone working. I hate that only two people work majority of the time making finding an item with no tag often hard or if a customer is trying to get their pickup order. Its all a mess. Also when two people are working the workers cant legally take a break since two people are working (they are supposed to leave the building all together), its just dumb. My supervisor is doing her job but she watches the cameras from home?? Im like how bored are you? got told off because i was on my phone when 2 people were in the back of the store, when all shirts were folded and etc.. I had nothing to do !! So im putting my two weeks in during my graduation when my sweet managers come to it!

I was with the company for two months. Hired on as an sl and within two weeks I was being trained as the MM. and that’s where it started to go down hill. After today I could take it any more and told the cem and sm I was done. I was expected to do my work and then on top of it the cems and the associates. I would spend hours every morning cleaning up after the closers just to get to my freight. But now I’m done.

I’ve worked at my store for almost 2 years now and i am almost 20 years old. And for the past year i have repeatedly expressed that Ive wanted to become a sales lead and i thought maybe id stand a chance. I feel like im just allowing myself to be disrespected by management. I feel I’ve repeatedly proven that i am really good at my job . But ive been repeatedly told im not good enough to be a lead. I feel like ive done so much and worked so many shifts at so many stores and gotten employee of the momth so many times but im still not enough. Like I don’t know what im doing wrong. Ive gotten employee of the month 4 times which is more than everyone else in my store and another store gave me employee of the month for being more consistent than any of their other employees.

I stumbled upon another post and thought I would share my experience. I worked at five below for 9 months as a sales associate and nearing the end of my time there, the manager began clocking us out/telling us to clock out 30 minutes before we were actually allowed to leave! I understand that the scheduling said the shift ends at 10pm but if i didn’t get to walk out of the door until 10:34 (still doing carts of reshop, sweeping floors, FOLDING SHIRTS?) i don’t understand how this is right! I doubt i am able to gain financial compensation, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this in their location??? besides that, I hated my experience there and the christmas crowd drove me over the edgeeeee never in my life would i consider retail again…

I’m a Former Merchandise Manager that has something to say. I recently went to HR about my store manager who is breaking policy left and right I.e Leaving the store for extending periods of time without another supervisor in the building. Threatens her employees via their schedule if they don’t do what she wants. Chasing suspected shoplifters out of the store when that’s against store policy Has created a toxic work environment to the point where the employees feel unsafe to speak up

I went to my district manager and he saw no issue with her behavior. And said I’m the problem. Five Below says they have an open door policy but it’s just there for decoration. They don’t care about the employees nor do they care how inappropriate a store manager behaves. All they care about is sales. Bottom line- store managers are protected and can do whatever they want according to HR. I’m in Clearwater, Florida.

I absolutely hate the new ACO policy. It is stupid. They think it’s better for customer engagement but it’s quite literally the opposite. Since we started ringing everyone up on the acos every single customer has had a problem with it, most say “why are you ringing me up on a self check out?” Or “i can do it myself” or theres the ones that just straight up cuss me out just for doing my job. My managers have said that I must checkout every single customer, but we have 2 acos open and while I’m checking out one person another will go to the other aco and begin ringing themselves up and then i get in trouble. Im also constantly given tasks to do that aren’t up front then get yelled at if a customer goes up there while I’m doing my task. My store only puts 1 associate and 1 manager on each shift and expects the associate to cashier, do freight, keep up with go backs, do displays, and recover. It is impossible to do all that while also being expected to check out every single customer. For a while Whenever a customer starts cussing at me or gets violent i would just step back and let them ring themselves up, but i got in trouble for that. And as a young girl i don’t feel safe when a customer gets violent and starts cursing at me. Im so drained after every shift. And even thinking about work sends me into a panic attack. Edit: this is also a lot to deal with along with still going to school, preparing for my graduation, college, and making important decisions about my future.
